Sheng Jianan’s office had a new carpet that had been changed at so unknown ti, making it so quiet and soft that no sound could be heard when stepping on it.
Tang Yanqi slowly walked to the edge of the desk and put down the coffee cup.
She then heard the man with his head lowered speak, "Have the finance departnt send up the latest reports."
Tang Yanqi didn’t move, instead reaching out to take the cigarette from the man’s fingers, which caused Sheng Jianan to move and look up.
There was so impatience in his eyes, but when he clearly saw who was standing in front of him, the impatience turned to astonishnt. In the next mont, Sheng Jianan quickly extinguished the cigarette in his own hand and stood up promptly, pulling Tang Yanqi to the side.
His hand occasionally waved in the air, as if trying to dissipate the smoke sll.
Tang Yanqi chuckled softly, "Want to hide it now? It’s too late."
Sheng Jianan ignored her, leading her to the lounge. He had smoked quite a bit today, and if he hadn’t just gone out, the office wouldn’t have aired out—otherwise, she would have been greeted by a dense cloud of secondhand smoke upon entering.
Tang Yanqi was pregnant; how could she sll the smoke?
Once they reached the lounge, Sheng Jianan turned on the humidifier, finally allowing himself to relax.
"Why... why are you here?"
Tang Yanqi slowly sat down by the bed, looking up, "Why shouldn’t I co?"
Sheng Jianan’s lips tightly pressed together, silent, quietly watching her. Only heaven knows how much he had missed her.
But he was afraid. He was the son of her enemy, and if she were to say, "It’s impossible for us," or "Although I love you, I can’t accept everything your mother has done," what would he do?
Reasons like these, excuses like these, he definitely couldn’t act as he had when she had first co back, ignoring everything to keep her by his side.
So rather than hear words like that, it was better to hide first. At least he could put it off for another day. At least for a day, she was still his wife.
Tang Yanqi lowered her gaze, opening the ultrasound slip she held, "I went for a prenatal check-up today. This is the printout; the doctor said our child is doing well. It’s a boy, just as you wished."
Tang Yanqi spoke softly, and Sheng Jianan listened numbly, instinctively following her cue to look at the thin piece of paper.
Sheng Jianan’s eyes gradually relaxed, unknowingly sitting down beside Tang Yanqi, and the two of them looked at the ultrasound slip together, with Tang Yanqi explaining it to him little by little.
She almost repeated what the doctor had said.

Sheng Jianan’s lips were tightly pressed, his eyes shut, yet through the narrow slit of his eyelids a slight hint of wetness appeared, and his body trembled gently.
Tang Yanqi clearly felt it, letting out a long sigh, "Jianan, co ho. Xiao Yi always talks about you. She keeps asking if her dad doesn’t want her anymore. And I miss you too."
Sheng Jianan’s hold on her tightened, and after a long pause, he spoke in a low voice, "You don’t hate ?"
Tang Yanqi curved her lips, "What do you think?"
