Jiayu had already passed the age to argue for the sake of face, so even though today she could have shut Su Wan up with just a few words, what would it matter?
She had still lost.
Sitting on the sofa for a long ti, Jiayu got up slowly and walked towards the bathroom.
She had been out for a long ti today, and a layer of sweat covered her body, making her uncomfortable.
She filled the tub with water and added a few drops of essential oil, then threw herself into the bathtub.
Her head hit the edge of the tub, and Jiayu closed her eyes, her mind uncontrollably replaying scenes from the day and the days she spent with Xin Ke.
She had confessed to Xin Ke, but was directly rejected. It was then she knew that Xin Ke had a close childhood friend he was emotionally attached to.
Later, she and Xin Ke established their relationship when Su Wan had gone abroad to study. At that ti, Xin Ke got drunk, and with a bit of selfishness, Jiayu stayed with him. She admits she had her own little plans, hoping that her companionship would win over Xin Ke’s heart.
She succeeded. After that day, Xin Ke asked her if she still liked him, if she wanted to be with him.
Without hesitation, she said yes.
Even though she knew he had soone else in his heart, even though she knew he didn’t really like her, being young and reckless, Jiayu always felt that as long as she was willing to wait, Xin Ke would eventually see her worth.
As a woman, Jiayu actually didn’t think much of Su Wan.
Not because of jealousy as a rival, but out of a rational judgnt.
Su Wan wasn’t as pretty as her, didn’t have as good a figure, and more importantly, Su Wan had a vanity stronger than most girls. Such a woman is easily tempted by material things, which is sothing Xin Ke could never control. So she always thought, as long as she was willing to wait, willing to cater to all of Xin Ke’s preferences, she would eventually have him fall in love with her.
The fact proved that during the earliest days of their marriage, her relationship with Xin Ke was actually quite harmonious. Although it couldn’t be described as very happy, at least they were sowhat like a couple.
But those days did not last long, breaking apart with Su Wan’s return.
What followed was a continuous barrage of slander from Su Wan.
Jiayu didn’t believe she couldn’t defeat that woman; in her eyes, Su Wan’s petty tricks were really insignificant.
But it was of no use; even when she presented evidence in front of Xin Ke, that man always sided with Su Wan, for no other reason than that he loved her.
And all her efforts, all her sacrifices beca "conspiracy and slander" and "wishful thinking."
Jiayu’s lips curved into a mocking smile as she slightly opened her eyes, looking at the crystal chandelier on the ceiling, her gaze turned blurred.
Unknowingly, she had spent over an hour in there. With high temperature and no ventilation, Jiayu felt her head growing heavier.
She frowned, realizing sothing was wrong. She tried to get up, but her body wouldn’t respond. Gradually, black dots appeared in her eyes, and then she knew nothing more.
When Jiayu regained consciousness, it was completely dark outside, and the water in the bathtub had turned cold.
Frowning, Jiayu struggled to get up, her head heavy and her body light. Her foot slipped, and she fell heavily, her forehead hitting the tub, a sharp pain accompanied by dizziness surged.
