Mu Ke was montarily startled, quickly regained his composure, and realized why Sheng Jiayu had such an expression. His face also beca a bit uneasy, and he coughed lightly: "I’ll be outside; call if you need anything."
Jiayu blushed, pursed her lips, and remained silent as Mu Ke turned and left.
As the door closed, both people let out a sigh of relief but also felt sowhat embarrassed.
Mu Ke sat on the sofa and casually turned on the TV. He initially didn’t feel much, but just now, seeing Jiayu’s appearance forced him to recall what he saw yesterday...
Jiayu’s skin was fair and delicate, her back lines graceful, and her slender waist enticingly easy to hold. Mu Ke felt his blood rushing.
Throwing the remote aside, he stepped towards the balcony, hoping the cold air outside would calm him down.
In fact, yesterday, when he picked Jiayu up and put her on the bed, then dressed her in clean clothes, he did all of this with a clear mind, without any improper thoughts at all.
At that ti, he was too worried about her to think much.
But now, recalling it, Mu Ke felt a bit parched. He stayed in the cool air on the balcony for a long ti, yet the fire in his body wouldn’t subside.
Inside the room, Jiayu sat on the bed for a while before getting up and heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Looking at herself in the mirror, her fair face carried an unusual tinge of red. Jiayu held the toothbrush, feeling increasingly uneasy.
Jiayu didn’t think it was a feeling of falling in love, perhaps because she hadn’t had close contact with a man for a long ti, which made her feel a bit uncomfortable.
After brushing her teeth, she lay back on the bed. Having slept all day, she was wide awake, grabbed her phone intending to ssage Xue Lu, but didn’t know what to say.
She wrote and deleted, deleted and wrote again, but ultimately couldn’t write a single word.
Lying flat, Jiayu stared at the ceiling. Her mother hoped she would erge from the shadow of divorce, her brother told her there are good n out there, she just had bad luck eting a jerk, and her girlfriends urged her to give it a try.
Jiayu understood their intentions, but she no longer had the desire. Yet monts ago, as she held the toothbrush and looked in the mirror, Jiayu had to admit there was a mont when she considered giving it a try.
She wasn’t a teenager or in her early twenties anymore, lacking that vitality, yet she wasn’t in her forties or fifties like a middle-aged woman.
In fact, she had many classmates who, for career or other reasons, hadn’t married yet, but they never gave up on life’s passion. Was she really about to give up?
In the mirror, her lips were red and her teeth white; with her ponytail and youthful outfit, she could pose as a college student effortlessly. Wasn’t she capable of trying again?
Jiayu felt a bit confused inside, like she was afraid of sothing, but didn’t know what exactly she was afraid of.
She lay there for a while longer, still awake, watching the light seep through the door crack. Jiayu pursed her lips, sat up, got out of bed, threw on a jacket, and walked out.
Mu Ke was still on the balcony blowing in the wind; hearing movent behind him, he imdiately turned back and closed the balcony door.
"What’s up? Not feeling well?"
Jiayu shook her head: "I... can’t sleep, ca out to tidy things up."
Speaking, Jiayu looked at the pile of bags stacked on the sofa.
