Jiayu’s thoughts drifted far away, back to those tender years when she liked Xin Ke. It was the kind of secret crush that most girls have had. During that ti, she put in a lot of effort and energy just to beco Xin Ke’s friend.
Back then, she really wanted to confess her feelings to Xin Ke, but she was afraid that if she did, they couldn’t even remain friends. So, she kept it bottled up inside, feeling anxious and conflicted.
Although the feeling was different, it was akin to now, in that they both were sentintal.
Jiayu tossed and turned in bed for a long ti before falling asleep. It was a very restful sleep, and when she opened her eyes again, it was already past ten in the morning.
The sky, which had been overcast all day yesterday, didn’t clear up today, but thankfully it wasn’t raining anymore. It was still cloudy and looked rather gloomy.
Jiayu rolled out of bed, reached out to press the switch on the bedside lamp, and the light turned on, indicating the electrical circuit had been repaired.
After freshening up and going out, the living room was empty, with the quilt and pillow neatly placed on the sofa.
On the dining table, there were sandwiches and fruit, and the coffee in the coffee machine was still warm.
The candles that had filled the room last night had been tidied up, and those unevenly burned white candles had already been thrown into the trash can.
Looking at those remnants, Jiayu recalled last night’s scene. The two of them during the power outage, dining and watching a movie by candlelight, occasionally eting each other’s eyes, seeing the flickers of candle flas in their eyes.
One has to admit, it was a little romantic.

She ate breakfast and drank a cup of coffee, feeling refreshed and invigorated.
Jiayu rembered she still had things to do today, so she changed clothes and went out. The water outside had mostly drained away, at least not affecting traffic anymore.
Jiayu drove to her bookstore and parked in front. It was her first visit since the bookstore was fully completed.
The bookstore is very large, and in such a pri location, having such a big space really shows a form of affluent willfulness.
The shop has two floors. The lower floor is designed to be open and elegant, with the cash register and order counter set on the first floor.
The second-floor decor is completely different, with various oddly shaped bookshelves partitioning the space into small, cozy areas.
There’s no complete separation, but it looks much more private.
Jiayu looked around, very pleased. The decoration’s blueprint was sothing she collaborated on with professionals, and the effect was even better than she imagined.
After checking out the shop, Jiayu went to et the person she had scheduled to discuss business with.
Although her dream was never to be a business powerhouse woman, many years of experience had made Jiayu more efficient and decisive than the average person.
After finishing her business discussions, it was already past four in the afternoon. She happened to be near Xue Lu’s company, so she decided to swing by and visit her friend.
Xue Lu and Chen Xueli had started a company of their own. Although it wasn’t large, it had always been quite profitable, and Jiayu had visited here many tis. The receptionist recognized her and greeted, "Miss Sheng’s here? Sister Xue is inside."
Jiayu nodded with a smile and walked straight in.
Just as she reached the office door, she heard a voice of argunt from inside: "Why are you helping him? A person like that deserves it."
Xue Lu’s voice was a bit sharp, clearly agitated.
"I just think you were classmates, after all. I’ll only help once."
