Jiayu was sitting diagonally opposite the nurse’s station, uninterested in the gossip of the young nurses. However, the conversation naturally drifted into her ears.
"What’s the big news?"
"The beauty of our departnt is going to confess to our aloof Doctor Mu."
Jiayu’s finger paused on her phone, and then she heard a couple of "tsk tsk" noises from that direction.
"Really? Doctor Mu is extrely aloof, exuding an ascetic vibe, and he’s so accomplished at such a young age. I guess he’s focused on his career. Would he really like won?"
"Why wouldn’t he? After all, he’s a man. There are many eyes in the hospital on Doctor Mu. He’s practically a sight to behold in our City First Hospital. Besides, as the saying goes, it’s easy for a girl to pursue a man."
Jiayu glanced over at them. Apparently, soone had pressed the bell, and the two people who were chatting just stepped out and headed towards the ward.
Jiayu looked back down, and after a while, footsteps echoed in the hallway again. The footsteps sounded familiar, and Jiayu looked up to see Mu Ke approaching with a girl in a nurse’s uniform.
Mu Ke still looked as aloof as ever, while the girl beside him wore a beaming smile.
Whether it’s because won can see through each other or not, Jiayu’s first instinct was that the person now by Mu Ke’s side was the one being gossiped about just now.
Over there, Mu Ke saw Jiayu sitting on the bench in the hallway. He quickened his pace and reached her in a few steps: "Have you been waiting long?"
Jiayu slowly stood up: "No, I just arrived."
"I was in a eting just now, I’ll change clothes and be right out."
Mu Ke said as he took the keys to his office from his pocket, about to unlock the door, when a crisp voice ca from behind: "Doctor Mu, who is this...?"
Jiayu turned to look and saw the young nurse from earlier approaching, scrutinizing her with wary eyes.
Mu Ke casually replied, "A friend."
He said nothing else, just opened the door, went in, tossed his white coat aside, grabbed his jacket, and ca out—all in less than ten seconds.
"Let’s go."
Jiayu nodded slightly. The young nurse’s unfriendly gaze still lingered on her, but Jiayu didn’t mind and followed Mu Ke towards the elevator.
"What do you want to eat?"
Mu Ke pressed the elevator button and asked sideways. Jiayu smiled softly, "I’m not familiar with this area, anything’s fine."
"It’s cold today, how about hot pot?"
"Okay."
Mu Ke took Jiayu to an elegant hot pot restaurant nearby. Here, each person had their own pot, which made it less lively but more hygienic.
Mu Ke seed to be in a particularly good mood today, even having a slight smile while ordering.
Although faint, for a man like him, it was already remarkable.
After ordering, Mu Ke looked at Jiayu: "How’s the progress with the bookstore?"
"It’s going well. We’re planning to open on Christmas Day."
Mu Ke asked, Jiayu answered, not saying a word more. Given Mu Ke’s naturally reserved nature, the conversation quickly beca sowhat awkward.
Even though the hot pot in front of them was bubbling away, the two of them remained quite reserved.
Mu Ke’s earlier exuberance gradually faded away as well.
