Jiayu walked straight into the community until she reached the entrance of the building. Only then did she stop and look back outside. Her eyes were already swollen, and tears continued to flow.

Xin Ke’s car was no longer in sight. Jiayu could no longer hold back and slowly squatted down, hugging her knees with her hands, and began to cry audibly.

Sowhere outside, fireworks were being set off, montarily lighting up the dark sky. Jiayu had no idea how long she had been crying before she finally felt a bit better. She slowly stood up, and her legs felt numb from squatting for too long, causing her to stumble slightly.

Jiayu nearly fell to the ground. Suddenly, a force wrapped around her waist, stabilizing her. Her legs were still numb, and Jiayu blankly turned her head to et a pair of clear, deep eyes.

Mu Ke?

How could he be here?

When did he appear behind her?

Jiayu stared in a daze. Once again, fireworks rose in the sky, with a "bang" they blossod, adding a touch of brilliance to the man’s eyes.

Mu Ke slowly released her, then took a small handkerchief from his pocket, gently wiping away the tears on Jiayu’s face.

"Why...are you here?"

Mu Ke’s expression was sowhat somber. He didn’t speak but instead adjusted Jiayu’s coat around her and said, "Shall we go up to talk?"

Jiayu licked her dry lips and nodded.

The two took the elevator upstairs and entered the apartnt, where they were imdiately ward up. Jiayu took off her coat and noticed Mu Ke was dressed in casual sportswear, even his down jacket was a sporty style.

But didn’t he go to the departnt’s Christmas party? Dressed like this, doesn’t seem like it, right?

"I heard from Su Chen that you had an event today, didn’t you?"

Mu Ke poured two cups of hot water, placing one in front of Jiayu, and only after taking a sip did he speak, "I didn’t go."

Jiayu didn’t like that idea. Hearing Mu Ke say he would cook, she quickly got up, "I’ll help you."

But Mu Ke paused, then suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms, "Just let hold you, just for a mont."

Jiayu was stunned, belatedly rembering that Mu Ke’s experience during this return to S City hadn’t been pleasant.

Her delicate arms lifted and wrapped around Mu Ke’s waist, she turned her face slightly, resting it against the man’s chest.
