Sheng Jiayu’s body stiffened slightly, quietly listening to Mu Ke’s words.
His voice was sowhat heavy, and it wasn’t difficult to discern the suppression and grief in his speech. Sheng Jiayu felt sowhat annoyed, yes, his loved one had just passed away, and she was bringing up such topics as if to comfort him, but it didn’t really help much.

She is a mature woman, and Mu Ke is also a mature man. They aren’t looking for intense passion, nor for vows of eternal love. They want to be grounded.
Maybe in the future, she’ll find that she likes Mu Ke but doesn’t love him as much. If Mu Ke can accept that, they can live their lives calmly together.
Maybe in the future, she’ll fully fall in love with this man again, and walk hand-in-hand with him through life in a steady, mature way.
Anything is possible, who can say for sure?
Not everyone is like Tang Yanqi, going around and around, having the boy who first moved her beco her lifelong partner.
Not everyone can be that fortunate.
Mu Ke obviously understood. Before leaving, he respectfully kissed Sheng Jiayu’s forehead, "No need to learn how to be a qualified girlfriend. For Mu Ke’s girlfriend, there’s only one requirent: to be you."
Such words from a cool man seed sowhat out of place, but he spoke them frankly, leaving one unsure if they should feel touched or amused.
When Mu Ke left, it was already late. Sheng Jiayu had intended to have him stay directly, as he had before.
But sensing their status had changed, bringing up such a suggestion again would seem even more ambiguous. Mu Ke seed to think the sa and didn’t show any intention of staying. Despite the late hour, he left decisively.
The living room returned to quietness. Sheng Jiayu looked at the flaming red roses on the coffee table, her lips unconsciously curling into a smile.
