That night Sheng Jiayu didn’t leave the old house; she stayed ho with Xu Qingru. Mu Ke sat for a while after dinner before bidding farewell.
Although Xu Qingru invited him to stay over, Mu Ke declined. Sheng Jiayu thought she understood why he refused. He wanted to give her a bit more ti to adjust and didn’t want to rush their relationship into sothing too intimate too quickly.
After seeing Mu Ke off, Sheng Jiayu initially thought her mother would nag her about Mu Ke again. Surprisingly, Xu Qingru didn’t say a word, just chatted about her bookshop and so things around her.
