The bedside lamp still cast a soft yellow glow. Mu Ke returned to bed, lying down and gently pulling Jiayu into his embrace, unable to resist lowering his head to tenderly kiss her forehead again and again.
This was the woman he had loved for so many years, now peacefully asleep in his arms. Was there anything more beautiful than this?

The next morning, Sheng Jiayu woke up groggily, finding the spot next to her already empty. She moved slightly, feeling sore all over.
This was a sensation she had never experienced before. Sheng Jiayu turned her head to see her plush loungewear neatly folded on the bedside table, clearly the work of a neat freak with obsessive-compulsive tendencies.
Recalling the events of last night made Sheng Jiayu’s cheeks flush. She slowly took the clothes to wear, her feet finally touching the floor as she stood, her legs trembling.

After washing up, she found Mu Ke just as before, cooking breakfast in the kitchen. His tall figure was upright and well-proportioned.

But before she even reached the kitchen door, Mu Ke’s phone, placed on the dining table, rang. Sheng Jiayu was the first to turn around to look, and the caller ID showed: Su Chen.
Mu Ke also turned around, and their eyes t for a mont. Sheng Jiayu’s face instantly burned.
"Um... Su Chen’s call."
Averting her eyes, trying to shift her attention, Mu Ke raised his flour-covered hands, since he was in the middle of wrapping dumplings and unable to answer the call.
"You answer it."
With her mind montarily foggy, Sheng Jiayu obeyed his suggestion and answered the call: "Hello?"
The person on the other end clearly hesitated upon hearing her voice, remaining silent for a long ti.
At that mont, Su Chen was seated in a spacious and bright office, lowering his phone to ensure he hadn’t dialed the wrong number before continuing, "Miss Sheng?"
