Wedding, huh...
Sheng Jiayu’s thoughts drifted slightly. She had always been more mature and sensible than her peers, but there was a ti when she indulged in the fantasies of a young girl.
What were those fantasies like back then?
She imagined herself on a lush green lawn, her beloved holding her hand, walking slowly towards the stage amidst the blessings of the crowd, then they would exchange rings, and then they would kiss.
Petals would fall from the sky...
Sheng Jiayu couldn’t help but laugh. Thinking back, those thoughts were quite cliché.
"As long as it’s not indoors, I don’t like indoor spaces."
Mu Ke’s eyes lit up: "Alright."
Sheng Jiayu didn’t ask Mu Ke what happened when he went back. They took a yacht tour and returned to the hotel to shower and rest.
Mu Ke booked a flight for nine-thirty the next morning. By seven o’clock, the two of them were awake, their luggage packed. They quickly freshened up and left.
As soon as they got to the hotel lobby, Sheng Jiayu saw Su Chen leaning against the car door outside, clearly here to drive them.
Over the past couple of days, Sheng Jiayu had learned that although Su Chen and Mu Ke grew up as childhood friends, Su Chen’s family wasn’t as happy. His parents were busy with their careers and rarely paid attention to him, so he grew up with his grandparents. After their passing, he was pretty much on his own.
The Su Family was well-off and never denied him material needs, but there was a lack of love.
Su Chen often stayed with the Mu Family, so he had a very good relationship with them.
Su Chen dropped them off at the airport. Just as he took the luggage out of the trunk, his phone rang. Su Chen answered it, and his expression imdiately changed. He then looked at Mu Ke.
Sheng Jiayu suddenly had a bad feeling, and sure enough, she heard Su Chen say, "Mu Ke, your mom fainted and was taken to the hospital."
Mu Ke’s face darkened, and Sheng Jiayu was briefly stunned before quickly urging Mu Ke: "Go quickly."
Mu Ke, with a grim expression, reached into his pocket to check his phone, only to hear Su Chen say, "Your phone wasn’t on."
Sheng Jiayu rembered that they had packed everything last night, including the charger in the bag, so they forgot to charge the phone.
Mu Ke paused for only a second before tossing the suitcase back into the car and pulling Sheng Jiayu in with him.
Su Chen’s driving was no longer steady, speeding out like the wind.
They headed straight to the hospital. Thanks to it still being the Lunar New Year holiday, the roads weren’t too congested, and they soon arrived at the place Mu Xin ntioned. Mu Ke strode forward to see Mu Xin with red eyes: "Brother..."
"What happened?"
"I don’t know, mom got up this morning, was eating breakfast just fine, then suddenly fainted. The doctor is still in there."
Mu Xin’s voice had a touch of sobbing, and Mr. Mu sat on the bench, unable to hide his anxiety.
Soon, a doctor in a white coat ca out, and Mu Ke imdiately rushed over.
The doctor first spoke in dical jargon that only Mu Ke understood, then quickly explained in layman’s terms.
"The patient has high blood pressure and experienced a significant shock, causing temporary fainting. There’s no major issue, but she must not be exposed to further stress."
Ms. Wang had always been healthy, but age was catching up, and she inevitably had so problems. Her biggest issue was high blood pressure, which Mu Ke was well aware of.
