###Chapter 62: Hazel Hawthorne’s Counterattack
"I can’t believe Raina Lowell is that kind of person, using everyone’s sympathy to achieve her goals. Won like her are the most manipulative; most guys can’t escape her clutches."
"So this is the drama of the rich and powerful, huh? It’s way more exciting than what I’ve seen on TV. Is this what they an by ’art imitates life’? Raina Lowell seems so sweet and fragile, I never would’ve thought she was so calculating."
"Am I the only one who thinks Raina Lowell is actually smart? n have no resistance to fragile won..."
Under that comnt, netizens sward to reply, "Yes, you’re the only one. One look at Raina Lowell and you can tell she’s a total phony—a classic white lotus, a green tea bitch. n love that type, because not only are they blind, they’re also incredibly easy to fool."
n and won alike launched into a furious debate in the thread.
"Actually, I had a feeling from the start that there was a twist to this story. Back in high school, Aiden Xavier didn’t like Raina Lowell at all. He was just good friends with her brother, and since Raina liked Aiden, she constantly used her brother as an excuse to follow him around..."
This single comnt instantly blew up, and its engagent shot to the top of the list.
Hazel Hawthorne’s phone was vibrating nonstop with notifications. She had already turned them off, but during her break, she couldn’t resist pulling out her phone to check on the situation and happened to see that very comnt.
Raina Lowell’s brother was a vague figure in Hazel Hawthorne’s mory.
She tapped on the top comnter’s profile picture and saw that they had listed Kenport High in the high school field. She couldn’t help but click through to their full profile, but aside from so basic details, everything else was set to private.
All Hazel knew was that this person went to Kenport High, which made them an alum. Perhaps they were a classmate of Aiden Xavier’s, or at least soone who knew both him and Raina Lowell.
Hazel’s private ssages were blowing up. She randomly clicked on a couple of them to see what they said.
"Girl, you’re so badass! I’m in awe. You actually used your main account to post that? You’re jumping right into the mud to fight Raina Lowell yourself."
"You’ve got so much guts! I’m your fan now!"
Hazel silently closed the app. She opened WeChat and tapped on Aiden Xavier’s profile picture. She hesitated for a long ti, not knowing what to say to him, and in the end, didn’t type a single word.
Suddenly, her phone was snatched away.
Hazel shot to her feet. She turned to see that the person who had snatched her phone was none other than Chloe Lee, the very sa person she had clashed with before. Chloe tossed Hazel’s phone to soone beside her and looked down at Hazel with a provocative sneer. "Slacking off on the job, Hazel Hawthorne? You’ve got so nerve."
"Give back my phone," Hazel said coldly. She reached for it, but just as her fingers were about to touch it, Chloe Lee signaled for the other person to hand it to her instead. With Hazel’s phone in hand, Chloe turned and walked out.
Hazel had no choice but to follow her. "Chloe Lee, we’re at work!"
Chloe stopped, but she still had no intention of returning the phone. She scoffed, "You think I don’t know this is the office? Do I need you to remind ? Do you even know who I am?"
The office staff had all gathered in the hallway to watch the drama unfold. Everyone at the company knew who Chloe Lee was, so no one dared to cross her. Hazel, on the other hand, was fearless. Her daring to provoke Chloe Lee was sothing Chloe envied.
Hazel grabbed Chloe’s hand, yanked her, and shoved her against the wall. Caught off guard, Chloe was once again bested by Hazel in front of everyone. Flushed and furious, she raised her other hand to slap Hazel.
It all happened in a flash.
Without a mont’s hesitation, Hazel anticipated Chloe’s move and caught her wrist, stopping her mid-swing.
Hazel took her phone back from Chloe’s grasp, leaned in close to her ear, and sneered, "I don’t care who you are. Even if you were the Queen of England, I wouldn’t give a damn."
"You!" Chloe’s vicious expression was laughable to Hazel.
Suddenly, the crowd of onlookers fell silent. Chloe’s eyes lit up as if she’d just seen her savior, her gaze fixed on sothing behind Hazel.
Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Hazel let go of Chloe.
Chloe ran straight to Julian Sterling, clinging to his arm and whining, "Cousin, you have no idea how badly I was just bullied! This person, a re newcor, is already throwing her weight around the company."
"Chloe, I think it’s more likely you were the one starting trouble. Do you think I don’t know what you’re like? Your dad has spoiled you rotten." Julian Sterling tweaked Chloe’s nose, but when he saw the woman who had turned around, he froze.
"It’s you."
Chloe imdiately asked, "Cousin, you know her?" Before Julian could answer, Chloe’s glare on Hazel intensified with disgust. She questioned Hazel directly, "You’re a real piece of work. I knew it. You sched your way into our company just to get close to my cousin."
"Let tell you sothing. My cousin would never like a woman like you. And soone like you isn’t worthy of him anyway." With Julian there to back her up, Chloe’s voice was filled with renewed confidence. "So stop getting ideas about him."
Hazel scoffed. "That’s the funniest joke I’ve heard all year." She didn’t even spare Julian Sterling a glance. "Tell , are all you rich people delusional? Do you really think everyone is trying to get with you?"
Julian Sterling’s gaze never left Hazel. He was about to speak, but Chloe cut in angrily, "Delusional? I’m telling the truth! I’ve seen plenty of won like you. You have no skills whatsoever and think you can just seduce rich n everywhere because you have a pretty face."
"And won like you can only take advantage of your youth for a few short years."
Julian couldn’t help but laugh as he looked at Hazel. He let go of Chloe’s hand and walked over to stand in front of Hazel. "Chloe’s just a spoiled brat. Don’t mind her."
Hazel was taken aback for a mont. "I’m surprised. For soone so unreasonable to have a cousin who’s actually quite reasonable."
Julian Sterling’s secretary shooed away the onlookers. Not that they needed much encouragent; no one would dare to openly gawk at the boss’s personal drama anyway.
"Hazel Hawthorne, what’s that supposed to an!" Chloe fud.
Julian shot a glare at Chloe over his shoulder before turning back to Hazel. "If there’s a problem, we can resolve it in my office."
"There’s no problem." Hazel already knew from Sharon Winters that Chloe’s cousin was Mr. Sterling, the head of the company. So, the mont she heard Chloe call the man "cousin," she knew he was her boss.
She couldn’t bring herself to muster a friendly smile for Chloe’s cousin, but seeing as he was her boss, Hazel remained polite. "I still have work to finish, Mr. Sterling. If you’ll excuse , I’ll get back to it."
Hazel turned and walked away. Gritting her teeth, Chloe followed Julian into his office, intending to complain. But before she could utter a word, Julian, his face a mask of cold fury, slamd his hand on the desk. The sound made Chloe freeze, and she stared at him in terror, not daring to even breathe.
