"My dad must have been cursed for eight lifetis to be born into your family."

Ji Rongsheng coughed a couple of tis, finally collecting himself. Tan You’s words had really shaken him. "But you’re their granddaughter. You have an obligation to be filial to your grandparents..."

"Filial piety?" Tan You laughed, amused. "In that case, let’s start by getting out the compensation money from my parents’ car accident. Let’s hash out every bit of suffering I endured over the past few years, and *then* we can talk about filial piety."

"But... but you can’t put a number on all that..." Ji Rongsheng’s mind worked quickly. He had always been exceptionally skilled at scheming for his own benefit.

"So your brilliant idea is that since it’s too hard to figure out, we should just forget the whole thing?" Tan You scoffed. "Ji Rongsheng, don’t take everyone for a fool. I know exactly what you’re thinking."

"What did you say when you signed the agreent? You said you’d be responsible for them for the rest of their lives, through sickness and old age, and that my father Ji Rongchang’s family would have nothing more to do with it. Have you forgotten so soon?"

"Or did you simply not expect that I’d turn out to be more successful than my dad was?" Tan You took another sip of tea. She’d said more in the last few minutes than she usually did in an entire week.

Shen Yu rested his chin in his hand, watching Tan You dominate the conversation, his eyes sparkling with admiration. ’Man, his sis is incredible,’ he thought. ’With just a few sentences, she’s left them completely speechless.’

Glancing absentmindedly at the viewer count, Shen Yu suddenly shouted, "Sis, we’ve broken twenty million viewers!"

Tan You rely arched an eyebrow, but the Ji family had a much bigger reaction.

Ji Peng shot to his feet. "You’re livestreaming? Why are you livestreaming? Did you ask for our permission?"

Shen Yu rolled his eyes. "We livestream at this ti every day. Who’s to bla for you all barging in? Besides, the cara isn’t even on you. What are you getting so worked up for?"

Tan You shrugged. "Shen Yu’s right. You’re the ones who showed up here. If I were to end the stream now, it would just make look like I have sothing to hide."

She shot the old Ji couple a knowing look. "You two were heartless enough to ignore completely for years, but I’m not quite so devoid of conscience. Since you want to talk about filial piety, let’s get straight to the point and talk about responsibility."

"According to the law, the obligation of support only passes down to the grandchildren when there are no sons. Your son and daughter-in-law are alive and well, so I find it hilarious that you’re coming to about your support."

"After all, judging by age, it’s not like Ji Rongsheng is going to die before you two, is he? And even if that were to happen soday, there’s still Ji Peng. If you want to share the sa obligation as Ji Peng, then first, bring out all of my parents’ compensation money. Then we can talk."

"After all, that compensation money was supposed to cover all your expenses for the rest of your lives."

Granny Ji started wiping her eyes. "But... but we don’t have any money... We gave it all to your uncle and his wife..."

"No money?" Tan You smiled, and this ti, the smile reached her eyes. Granny Ji froze, stunned that Tan You could look so delighted.

"Then let give you a little advice," Tan You said with a grin. "Go ask your younger son for the money. If he won’t give it to you, take him to court. Just treat them the sa way you used to throw tantrums and make scenes to get what you wanted from my parents."

"In this world, nothing’s worse than being broke. You get that compensation money back, and I won’t haggle with you over any of this. That will be your retirent fund. How much of it you can get back depends on your own skills."

Tan You made no attempt to hide her intentions. She laid it all out, completely ignoring the fact that she was live on cara. "That compensation money was supposed to be for your retirent, but it’s not in your possession now, is it? So, you should go ask for it back from whoever spent it."

Ji Rongsheng imdiately tried to stop her. "Ji Li! It’s not that we don’t want to support your grandparents! Aren’t you just trying to sow discord in our family by saying that?"

Tan You scoffed. "You’re supporting them? By bringing them here to my place? Speaking of support, how much money do you give them each month? How many new outfits do you buy them each year? Do you take them for regular dical check-ups? Have you done any of that? And you have the nerve to talk to about providing support?"

Granny Ji imdiately understood the new dynamic. "That’s right! You have to give us money every month! The compensation for our eldest son was over four hundred thousand, and you’ve siphoned it all away over the years! With this... what is it..."

"A livestream," Tan You supplied casually, having completely grasped Granny Ji’s way of thinking.

"Right! With the livestream as a witness, you’ll sign an agreent with us about how much support money you’ll give us each year..."

Old Man Ji tried to speak, but Granny Ji imdiately started her tirade. "Are you still taking his side? They clearly don’t want to support us anymore! They just want to kick us to the curb..."

"If we don’t secure so money now, what’s going to happen to us later?"

"If our eldest son and his wife were still alive, would we have had to live like this all these years?"

Old Man Ji fell silent. He, too, could now see the situation clearly. ’Our younger son’s family likely planned this all along,’ he thought. ’It won’t be that easy for them. They agreed to support us in exchange for that compensation money, so there’s no way they can shake us off now.’

"Oh, my eldest son..." Seeing that Ji Rongsheng wasn’t responding, Granny Ji opened her mouth to start wailing. A teacup suddenly shattered on the floor in front of her. She froze and looked up to see Tan You’s face dark with anger.

"Ma’am," Tan You’s voice was cold. "If you’re going to ntion my father like that, I won’t be as lenient as I’m being now. What, he slaved away for you his entire life, and now that he’s dead, you’re going to drag out his mory just to line your own pockets?"

Granny Ji’s eyes darted around before she imdiately changed her target. "Ji Rongsheng, you ungrateful wretch! I raised you for nothing! If you don’t sign an agreent and give us support paynts today, your father and I will sue you!"

Tan You shifted in her seat, watching the dog-eat-dog spectacle with great interest. ’Ji Rongsheng never imagined this, did he?’ she thought. ’That the parents who were once so completely subservient to him would one day turn on him like this?’

Eager to add fuel to the fire, Xu Liang chid in, "I’ve already contacted a lawyer. He’ll be here soon."

Tan You clapped her hands. "Excellent. Let’s wait for the lawyer to arrive before we discuss anything further."

Unsurprisingly, Tan You’s livestream blew up. In fact, from the mont the Ji family appeared on cara, it had captured everyone’s attention. This sudden broadcast was hitting all the right keywords: a top strear, the private affairs of the notoriously mysterious top strear Ji Li, no less.

Then there was Ji Li’s tragic backstory, followed by her outrageously dysfunctional family—the Ji family—and finally, the glorious spectacle of that sa family turning on each other. After the lawyer arrived, the viewership skyrocketed even further.

Once the lawyer arrived, Tan You had little left to do. At the end of the day, this was a matter of filial support between Ji Rongsheng and the old Ji couple. Furthermore, Tan You had clearly stated that she would not shirk any of her own legal responsibilities, leaving her completely unimpeachable in the eyes of the law.

The Ji family certainly wanted Tan You to end the stream, but at this point, how could she possibly grant their wish? Besides, they were the ones who had co knocking on her door. ’Since I have to deal with them,’ she thought, ’I might as well take care of everything at once. Settle it for good.’
