When the Side Character Gets a System and Travels through Difference Worlds Chapter 219: Lu Wen 6
"So what if we fail? You can’t guarantee success in everything you do." Tan You was unconcerned. "We’re just ordinary people. I can face any failure in my life with grace, as long as I know I did my best in the mont."
"Besides, less than a tenth of the people who go on this show actually complete the course. So we’re just there to make up the numbers. As long as we have fun, that’s all that matters."
Ji Mingxi said, "Okay, then let’s go to this water park tomorrow. We don’t have a show like this back ho. But we do have that... shaky bridge..."
As he spoke, he pulled out a video to show Tan You. She leaned in to take a look and imdiately made up her mind. "Looks fun. I’ll have to try it when I visit your neck of the woods."
Ji Mingxi chuckled. "It can get really embarrassing... and lots of people will be taking pictures..."
Tan You waved a hand dismissively. "I don’t care about keeping up an idol image. I just want to have fun."
She smiled as she spoke. "And as for pictures, I’m not ugly, am I?"
Ji Mingxi studied Tan You carefully for a mont. "You’re very beautiful. Beautiful in a way that’s hard to describe."
He smiled. "None of your features are perfect or exceptionally striking on their own, but together, they create a look that’s very pleasing and beautiful. Even if a plastic surgery clinic wanted to use you as a template, I doubt they could replicate it."
Tan You raised an eyebrow slightly. ’A max-level beauty stat is nothing to scoff at, of course.’
They naturally chatted over dinner, and after leaving the restaurant, they walked to the music festival. The festival was already bustling with all sorts of musicians and audience mbers, and the atmosphere was electric.
Ji Mingxi had sharp eyes. He looked surprised when he saw the band on stage. "This is a foreign band I really like. I was even planning to go abroad to see them perform. I can’t believe they’re here today."
Tan You smiled. "We can try to get a photo with them later."
Ji Mingxi didn’t say anything else, just quietly watched the performance on stage. Tan You didn’t mind at all. In fact, she was secretly glad he was quiet. She’d already talked more in the past few hours than she usually did in a week.
It wasn’t unusual for celebrities to show up at a music festival, and since both Tan You and Ji Mingxi were dressed inconspicuously, very few people recognized them. They just blended in like any other fans, quietly watching the show.
Ji Mingxi was completely absorbed. When the music got exciting, his body would sway to the rhythm. He was a pretty good dancer; after all, the competition between groups in his ho country was fierce. Even though Ji Mingxi wasn’t the lead dancer, his skills were still impressive.
Tan You was much calr. She wasn’t that interested in music, so she had the leisure to pay attention to other things. When she saw that the band Ji Mingxi liked was about to leave the stage, Tan You tugged on his arm.
Ji Mingxi was surprised. "What’s wrong?"
Tan You gestured. "The band you like is leaving. Didn’t you want a photo with them?"
It dawned on Ji Mingxi instantly. He grabbed Tan You by the wrist and started pushing his way out of the crowd. The caraman, trailing behind them, suddenly felt like he was filming a scene with a runaway princess.
After successfully catching up to the band and getting photos and autographs, Ji Mingxi was in an excellent mood. Looking through the pictures, he suddenly made a suggestion. "We haven’t taken a photo together yet."
Tan You was easygoing. "How do you want to take it? I’m ga for anything."
As a star, Lu Wen had a clear understanding of how to look her best in photos. And Tan You herself had once been in front of a major director’s cara, so she had been trying to get back into that mindset these past two days.
So Tan You had her own ideas about how to take a good picture. As the two of them posed for their photo, the caraman kept filming, thinking that the two of them looked especially beautiful together in the fra—perhaps because both were so good-looking.
In any case, Tan You and Ji Mingxi’s first eting was very pleasant. Ji Mingxi, in particular, was in a great mood. He felt taken care of the entire ti, and he found being with Tan You very relaxing.
She had a strong sense of boundaries, never prying into his private life or trying to trap him with her words. All in all, he found his ti with Tan You incredibly pleasant.
There weren’t any romantic sparks, but that was fine too. Just as Tan You had said, as long as they had fun together, that was enough.
「The next morning」
Tan You and Ji Mingxi boarded a plane to Province A. By eight o’clock, they were on the ground there. They were coming to participate in an obstacle course show, so the program’s director and the TV station had naturally been in contact.
The TV station was, of course, thrilled. Their obstacle course show was mostly attended by students or ordinary people; this was indeed the first ti celebrities had co to participate.
So when Tan You and Ji Mingxi arrived, the station even assigned two staff mbers to accompany them. There were spectators on site, but they were mostly elderly. As for young people, Ji Mingxi glanced around and saw hardly any.
Ji Mingxi was happy for the peace and quiet. A life where crowds followed you everywhere you went might seem nice at first, but over ti, it beca exhausting—and that was the kind of thing you could never say out loud.
After all, it was an easy way to lose fans.
Tan You said, "There are separate courses for n and won here. Since neither of us has done this before, we can watch from below for a bit to see how other people do it, then give it a try ourselves."
Ji Mingxi, of course, agreed. He was competitive and definitely didn’t want to fall into the water the mont he got on the course.
The two of them sat down in the audience section, next to a few old ladies. Seeing them sit down, the ladies very enthusiastically pressed small fans into Tan You’s and Ji Mingxi’s hands. "It’s so hot today. Use these to block the sun, you don’t want to get a tan."
"These two are so good-looking."
"Aren’t they? Young lady, are you two here to be on the show too?"
Tan You smiled. "Yes, we ca to have so fun. But it’s our first ti, so we wanted to watch how others get through the course first."
The old lady’s floodgates opened. "Ah... Let tell you, there’s a trick to getting through this course..."
The old lady chattered on and on. Tan You understood it all and started translating for Ji Mingxi. She only gave a direct, word-for-word translation for the first couple of sentences, then switched to explaining the rest in English.
Ji Mingxi understood as well. Combining her explanation with the movents he’d just seen from other contestants, his brow slowly unfurrowed. After seeing soone successfully complete the course, Ji Mingxi’s confidence gradually grew.
One look at his eyes told Tan You that he was ready to take on the challenge, and a smile touched her eyes.
Ji Mingxi said, "I’m ready. What about you?"
Tan You stood up. "Then let’s give it a shot."
As they walked toward the high platform, the hosts saw them. They had just received a last-minute notice from the director, so they were both quite excited to see Tan You and Ji Mingxi.
