When the Side Character Gets a System and Travels through Difference Worlds Chapter 85: Chi Mo 39
Tan You had no idea the entire production crew had descended upon the teahouse, and Brother Chuan, the only one in on the secret, didn’t dare say a word. He was afraid Chi Mo would bail on them.
His reasoning was that once Chi Mo was on stage and saw the huge audience below, out of respect for the stage, she would have to see the performance through no matter what.
To maintain secrecy, the teahouse owner had even had the curtain in front of the stage drawn shut. This way, Tan You had no clue what was happening on the other side, and the all-knowing Beauty System certainly wasn’t going to speak up and tell her the truth.
Zhou Wenwen, Lin ng, Gao Jing, and Song Haomin’s ex-wife were sitting together. Gao Jing nudged Zhou Wenwen’s arm. "You know, the last ti we saw Little Chi dance in person was when we went to N City. I didn’t expect we’d get to see her live so soon."
Zhou Wenwen said, "I’m so excited, too. Momo said her dance troupe is going on tour after this show ends. I’m definitely going to see her perform live then."
Gao Jing replied, "Of course. If she cos to S City, I’m definitely taking my whole family to see her perform."
Lin ng said, "I’m so jealous. I feel like she glows when she’s on stage."
Hearing this, Song Haomin’s ex-wife felt a little bitter, but she didn’t say anything. After all, she was also trying to make it in the entertainnt industry, so she knew better than to offend people to their faces or speak ill of them.
Besides, Chi Mo had so many fans. If she really said sothing, it could harm her career if it was ever dug up later. It was better to keep up a peaceful facade like this and not offend anyone.
Tan You was in a good mood, which only improved after she changed into the "battle armor" the choreographer had brought her. Since the dance costu was more like casual wear, Tan You’s hairstyle was kept very simple.
Her hair was simply tied back in a half-up style, accented with two red hydrangeas by her ear. As for her makeup, it was even more understated. Just a light touch of eyeliner was applied, which reduced the round, youthful look of her eyes and gave them a more alluring and charming air.
The makeup artist clasped her hands to her chest. "This face... it’s just too perfect. And her skin is so good! I’m so envious."
Tan You smiled. "Are we about done? I’m planning to run through it one last ti."
The makeup artist nodded. "All done. Ms. Chi, you’re truly so beautiful! Break a leg!"
Tan You looked at her dubiously. "Break a leg?"
The makeup artist quickly tried to cover her slip. "Yeah, break a leg! I hope Ms. Chi can film an even better piece."
Tan You narrowed her eyes slightly. ’Sothing feels off,’ she thought. But she still strode onto the stage. After the musicians had taken their positions to one side, just as Tan You struck an opening pose, the heavy curtain, which had been drawn tightly shut, suddenly parted to the sides.
Tan You was standing right in the center of the stage. She watched as the interior of the teahouse was revealed before her, bit by bit. Right in the middle were the guests from the show, and behind them were the teahouse patrons.
All three floors of the teahouse were now packed with custors. So were even leaning over the railings.
The mont she saw the scene, it only took Tan You a second to figure out the production team was up to sothing. She was the type to stay composed, and after a brief mont of shock, Tan You gave a small nod to the musicians.
Soon, a lodious tune began to echo through the teahouse, and Tan You started to dance gracefully to the music. Her every movent looked simple, yet they possessed an unparalleled beauty.
Her figure was exceptionally graceful, and paired with her faint smile, it was hard to say if she was "slaying" the n, but all the female patrons here were completely srized.
Gao Jing murmured, "The moves themselves don’t look that hard, but to dance so beautifully must be incredibly difficult."
Zhou Wenwen said, "I used to despise those hedonistic emperors, but now I envy them and want to be one. If I had a beauty like this dancing for every day, who would even think about attending court?"
Lin ng’s eyes were glued to the stage, and she didn’t hear a word anyone next to her said. It wasn’t just her. The entire teahouse was exceptionally quiet, everyone’s eyes fixed on the absorbed dancer on stage.
Even the most beautiful dance must co to an end. After just five minutes, Tan You began to thank the audience. The mont she bowed, everyone suddenly snapped out of their trance, and thunderous applause quickly followed.
So people even started shouting for an encore. Exasperated, Tan You looked toward the director at the side of the stage, giving him a look that said, "Aren’t you going to get this under control?" The director rubbed his nose, raised a small gaphone, and said, "Ms. Chi, how about you dance it one more ti?"
He was just a pot-stirrer who loved the drama, and he was taking full advantage of the "safety in numbers" ntality.
Resigned, Tan You could only ask the director for the microphone. "Well, I’ll have to trouble the musicians to play it one more ti, then. This dance was just choreographed today, so it’s still very rough at the mont. I’m sorry to show everyone such an unpolished performance, and I hope you can all bear with ."
"You call that rough? That was absolutely beautiful!" a girl on the second floor shouted loudly. "Momo, you’re being too modest!"
Tan You smiled in her direction. "Thank you, miss."
"So pretty!"
It was one thing when she wasn’t smiling, but the mont she did, a collective gasp went through the teahouse. Tan You toned down her smile slightly, handed the microphone back to the director, and perford the dance one more ti. This ti, she refused to do any more, no matter what.
The director didn’t dare actually force her, so he took the opportunity to back down. The production crew and the cast quickly left the teahouse.
Tan You didn’t make a scene or get angry with the director. After all, filming for the show was already nearing its end; why cause a fuss now? The calr she was, the happier the director felt. After all, not everyone was so understanding and tactful.
Although the second day’s shoot had a small, unexpected twist, Tan You didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until she woke up the next morning and saw the trending topics that it began to sink in.
"Is it this easy to get on the trending list nowadays?" Handing the phone back to Gao Jing, Tan You was a bit baffled.
She rembered from her life as Han Tingting, it was incredibly difficult for actors and celebrities to get on the trending list. They even had to pay for it. But since Tan You ca to this world, it seed like every ti she released a dance video, it would start trending.
"You really don’t know how good you have it," Gao Jing said, scrolling through the comnts. "Everyone already found their way to your account. They’ve even figured out what show you’re on."
"The director must be ecstatic, then. All this publicity, delivered right to his doorstep," Tan You said, her face covered in cleansing foam, completely unfazed by the cara angled above her.
"He’s definitely ecstatic," Zhou Wenwen said, leaning against the doorfra with her arms crossed. "Even a face full of foam can’t hide your stunning looks."
"Yesterday, when you danced the first ti, probably not many people were filming. Everyone was too stunned. But during the second ti, I saw a lot of people with their phones up. They’re probably the ones who uploaded it."
Lin ng ca over too. "The director is the slyest one of all. He really knows how to ride a trend. He posted the full version directly on his personal account, and even included the show’s air date."
