Early the next morning, An Nan woke up early, but unlike usual, she didn’t see the busy Lin Mubai in the kitchen. Instead, she saw a note left by Lin Mubai on the fridge in the kitchen: "Sothing ca up at the company, I went to the office first. Breakfast is in the fridge, heat it up in the microwave and eat. I’ll be back in the evening."
An Nan imdiately put down the note and quickly ran to Lin Mubai’s room, pushed the door open with a bang, and saw the cold, empty room. It was obvious that soone was no longer there, and a strange emptiness filled her heart.
An Nan stood in Lin Mubai’s room for a long ti, until the ringing of the phone interrupted her daze.
She hurriedly ran back to the living room to find her phone and picked it up to see an unfamiliar number. Who could it be?
Curiously, she answered the phone: "Hello, who is this?"
Very soon, a familiar voice reached An Nan’s ears: "Nannan, is that you? It’s Mrs. Lin."
Mrs. Lin? An Nan quickly realized and guiltily said into the phone, "Oh, Mrs. Lin, I’m sorry, I didn’t recognize your voice at first."
"No worries, are you up yet?"
"Yes, I’m already up."
"Do you have ti this morning to go out with for a bit? And maybe have lunch together." Lan Yiqing was eagerly looking forward to building a good relationship with her future daughter-in-law, and if she wasn’t afraid of scaring the girl off, she would have loved for An Nan to start calling her Mom already.
An Nan couldn’t find a reason to refuse such a gracious invitation from an elder.
"Sure, Mrs. Lin. When is convenient for you?"
"How about we et at 10 o’clock at the departnt store in the city center?"
"Sure."
"Then let’s keep in touch by phone."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, An Nan didn’t have ti to think any further. She quickly heated up and finished the breakfast Lin Mubai prepared, hurriedly changed clothes, and left.
Since she missed the rush hour traffic, An Nan drove smoothly and arrived at the departnt store’s parking lot.
Sitting in the car, she checked her phone for the ti. There was less than half an hour before the agreed eting ti. An Nan thought for a mont and then sent a ssage: "Mrs. Lan, I’ve arrived. No rush, take it slow on the road."
Right after sending the ssage, a call from the other party ca through.
As soon as she answered the call, she heard Lan Yiqing’s cheerful voice on the other end: "Nannan, you’re here already? I’m also in the parking lot. Where are you?"
Hearing this, An Nan quickly got out of the driver’s seat with her phone, glanced around a few tis, and before she could respond, she heard a familiar voice from behind: "Nannan, I’m here."
An Nan turned around and saw a person walking towards her with a gentle smile.
She put down her phone and walked forward to greet her.
As soon as An Nan got close, Lan Yiqing grabbed her hand and asked with concern, "Nannan, did you sleep well last night? I’m sorry for calling you out so early. I know you young people like to sleep in."
Hearing this, An Nan felt a bit embarrassed. Regardless of whether she and Lin Mubai were truly a couple, she still felt a bit reserved in front of the elder.
Before An Nan could explain, a person who looked like a driver approached them and first greeted An Nan, "Miss Lin." Then turned to Lan Yiqing, saying, "Madam, shall I wait here for you?"
Lan Yiqing waved her hand and said, "You can go back. Nannan drove here today, so she’ll give a ride back later."
