Colby. Valentine could clearly sense the guardedness and disdain in the eyes of the Asian girl in front of him. Smart as he was, he swallowed the words that were about to escape his lips and shifted his attention to An Nan’s classmates.
"Hey folks, which school are you from?"
Colby. Valentine, master of congenial concern, managed to gather all the information he wanted about the girl in front of him in no ti. An Nan tried to interfere, but she found it utterly useless. Her classmates seed bewitched by this strange man, and no matter how she signaled or tugged at their clothes, it was to no avail. At this mont, she felt that her peaceful life might vanish forever, a hint of grievance and regret flashed across her eyes.
She kept blaming herself inwardly: "An Nan, why do you always love to ddle? Now look, he said Chinese people don’t have any musical talent, you could have just let it be. What’s it to you?"
Back at school, An Nan spent two uneasy days waiting, but when Colby. Valentine didn’t show up, she gradually cald down.
anwhile, her life underwent a trendous change within these days, leaving her deeply troubled. All the students knew about her refusal of Colby. Valentine, the piano master. So students continued to treat her as usual, but there was another group who constantly talked behind her back, saying nasty things about her, claiming she was arrogant for rejecting Colby. Valentine. These people hid away, not daring to be too brazen, yet there were others who boldly blocked her path and resorted to physical confrontation without any regard.
An Nan was not the kind to take the blows passively, she imdiately fought back against those people.
And just like that, things went south.
Even though An Nan was alone, she managed to beat them all down. This caused quite a stir, as the others were students from good backgrounds. Their parents strongly demanded An Nan be expelled.
When An Nan went abroad, she promised her family to be a good student, only then did they let her co to the United States. If word reached them, she’d surely be called back ho.
So she dared not tell her family, but the school was pressing hard on her, leaving her out of options.
Just then, Colby. Valentine arrived at the school, understood the situation, and effortlessly resolved it.
As he ca to An Nan with a smiling face, ready to accept her gratitude, little An Nan kicked him directly in the stomach and disdainfully shouted, "I don’t need your help! If the school wants to expel , then let it be. I don’t want to stay in a place so blind to justice anyway. I’m leaving right now."
And so, fifteen-year-old An Nan left the school imdiately.
Colby. Valentine snapped out of his shock but could no longer find any trace of her.
