But empty words couldn't hold back the Calamity Shadow, determined to escape. With a few leaps, it vanished into the forest's depths, beyond Leon's reach now that he had blocked the shockwave.
A wolf's howl echoed from the forest, and the bushes rustled. Several Ancestor Spirit people erged to investigate, blowing horns as soon as they saw Leon, unleashing a swarm of small animals.
"Damn it!"
Seeing that the number of small animals wasn't high, Leon thought for a mont before charging forward with his sword to battle them.
From the previous battle, he was now entirely certain that the Calamity Shadow he faced wasn't Blaze. Apart from its appearance, this individual shared nothing in common with Blaze.
Because based solely on Blaze's performance in the Battle Festival, it was impossible for that person to be the type to flee mid-battle!
No matter how powerful the Calamity Shadow, or how well it wielded cold energy, it wouldn't turn into the true Blaze.
But then again, the actual Calamity Shadow had no use of cold energy, rely swinging a greatsword around. The Calamity Shadow's 'Wolf Attack' combat skill on the royal greatsword and use of cold energy were specifically added by Gong Qiying to better mimic Blaze and provide a slight enhancent.
Although the Ancestor Spirit people of the forest weren't everywhere, the distances between them weren't too great either.
At least, they could certainly rush over for support upon hearing their comrades' battle cries.
While enduring the dark arrow assaults, Leon exterminated all the driven animals at the scene. But glancing back, he saw a new group of flashy-looking Ancestor Spirit people making an entrance, each aiming their bows at him.
