As soon as Luluwo approached, she sensed an ominous aura, causing her to make a swift judgnt.
"This person is infected with Mad Fire!"
Mad Fire, a thing tied to very unpleasant experiences for her, sothing she would rather not recall.
And yet, an unexpected person carrying Mad Fire suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Is it really that thing? I heard it caused chaos in the Warrior Country." Fenagri mused, stroking his chin.
That chaos seed to have so connection with ... Luluwo kept that thought to herself.
A strong sense of confusion welled up in her heart.
"How could soone in the Capital be infected with Mad Fire? Surely Sain Dungeon couldn’t have opened a portal there, right?"
This baffled her endlessly, and even after interrogation, they couldn’t determine how the spy got infected with Mad Fire. The spy was clueless, and even after being told about the dangers of Mad Fire, he appeared very frightened.
"I- I feel like I’ve been controlled these days, my body doesn’t feel like my own. Could it be because of this thing?"
The spy’s stamring words caught everyone’s attention.
"You an your infiltration of Hepa Town as a spy wasn’t voluntary?"
"I wouldn’t dare! Only after being captured here did I feel like I regained control of my body!"
After careful interrogation, they learned this spy was a re mudfoot hanging around in the slum until one day he unknowingly got exposed to Mad Fire, then started working for the Skebek family as a spy until being captured now. It wasn’t until the Mad Fire within him erupted uncontrollably that he felt as if he awoke from a long dream and regained control of his body.
It sounds incredible; if true, the Mad Fire even has the ability to affect ntal states, akin to high-level Spirit Manipulation Magic.
But when asked about matters in the Capital, he showed a gap in mory, unable to rember how he ca into contact with Mad Fire or even know it existed.
"Soone intentionally erased his mory, even magic can’t retrieve it." The mage among the rebel army shook his head, indicating helplessness.
"Then, what should we do with him?"
Hevi showed a thoughtful expression.
"Since we know the dangers of Mad Fire, this guy is like a bomb. We can’t risk whether he still carries Mad Fire or not, and we don’t know the level of contagion."
"Those injured by him have already fully recovered after taking Mad Fire Moss dicine," the mage tily reminded.
"This reduces the risk, but it’s still not negligible," Hevi nodded and said, "I think we can’t keep him."
"Should we execute him directly?" The interrogator beside eagerly asked, holding a giant pair of pliers, causing the spy in the cell to loudly cry for help.
"No, I want to let him go back."
Luluwo and Fenagri both looked up at him.
Hevi plans to send this ticking ti bomb back to the Capital, so that even if it explodes, it won’t affect the rebel army?
This plan is fine, but.....
"From what I know, once Mad Fire breaks out, it’s hard to control. I still don’t understand why there would be Mad Fire in the Capital; it doesn’t make sense." Luluwo said, frowning.
"What if Mad Fire could create sorceries similar to Chaos Fla?" Fenagri suddenly suggested.
If that could happen, perhaps humans could also harness Mad Fire?
After all, once taken out of Sain Dungeon, Mad Fire can’t infect others, and it isn’t contagious. It just causes severe discomfort, but one can generally recover in a few days, even the professors at the Magic Association can’t find a way to preserve Mad Fire outside for long.
So Fenagri’s suggestion seems quite reasonable.
"From the spy’s reaction, the user of Mad Fire is likely within the Skebek family. We’re still unsure of his stance, so I want to try reaching out first."
Hevi set his gaze on the spy and said:
"I know a magic spell that can leave so information on living beings, which can then be shown to intended targets. Add so ntal control magic and send him back; once he contacts the mysterious figure again, perhaps we’ll know their stance."
He wants to leave contact information on the spy; if the other side sees it and reaches out, they can probe further.
If there’s no response in a set tifra, or if there isn’t a true Mad Fire user, then he’ll announce the Mad Fire presence in the Capital.
Hand this big trouble to the Holy Light Church, let them fret over it themselves; they’ve already received a humanitarian warning from us.
"And pass along my greetings to that old turtle of the Skebek family too," Luluwo couldn’t resist saying.
Faced with an assassin targeting her, she was quite furious, feeling underestimated.
But she couldn’t just rush to the Capital for a decapitation strike on the Skebek family now, so she could only work through the spy for now.
"Should we give him so counteracting abilities too? So if the other side harbors ill intentions, he can retaliate."
"Certainly, let research it."
With that, Hevi instructed the nearby mage to start designing magic, ignoring the constant struggles of the spy.
Before they could send this troubleso spy from Hepa Town, he’d stay on guard here.
"This investigation of scouts across regions could beco quite massive, making it hard to keep supporting your adventurers; sorry about that."
He spoke sincerely to Luluwo and the others.
After all, the rebel army essentially served as the landlord here and had continually supported the adventurers’ endeavors. Though doing so also served to secure certain benefits, it was genuinely helpful.
"It’s fine, your matters are the real priority," Luluwo replied casually, glancing at the sky outside the window, noticing it was already nearing night.
She ventured inside the Demon Relics as an adventurer for two whole days, just erged without rest to attend this eting; realizing it’s late brought a wave of fatigue over her.
She wanted to say she was heading to rest, but rembered so things she hadn’t ntioned to Hevi.
"Take this, hold onto it."
Suddenly, she pulled out a transparent container, about the length of a forearm, its grimy, dark green mist inside reflecting like Nagor’s toy.
"What is this?" Hevi asked, puzzled.
"Bioweapon, highly infectious."
Upon hearing this, he nearly dropped the container.
"Wait a minute, isn’t this thing from Sick Village?" Fenagri was shocked too, "Why did you bring it out!"
Because the dark green mist is actually the venom sprayed by the Egg Carrier serving the White Spider.
Yes, it’s that creepy substance which causes heads to grow eggs upon contact!
Just seeing it makes one’s scalp tingle.
"I happened to find a way to carry it out, besides its threat is sowhat potent yet manageable, so..."
Luluwo revealed a wicked grin to Hevi and said:
"For , deliver this to the Skebek family."
"Achoo!"
Simultaneously, far away Todd sneezed unexpectedly.
"I wonder if the warning I sent to the rebel army was received..."
