A smooth air wall?
As a warrior, the assault captain naturally possesses a sense of danger, but this ti he didn’t detect any threat.
So, could this be so kind of trap?
He tapped on the air wall, feeling its hardness. He believed that attacking it would certainly feel terrible and would also accelerate the damage to his weapon.
"It wasn’t here before."
He kept probing the "air wall" as he moved forward, trying to find a gap.
"Maybe I should tell the Captain... Wait, can I use this as an excuse to persuade the Captain to retreat for now? I’m really tired."
The assault captain smiled, suddenly finding the air wall sowhat endearing, and looked up.
An enormous floating eyeball appeared out of thin air, staring intently at him.
"Hmm!"
Before he could be surprised, sothing long and slimy coiled around him!
————————————
The atmosphere around the bonfire of the three corpse warlocks was tense within the Light Eagle Group.
Usually, at monts like these, Eliphas, known for reading the room well, would step up, inspiring everyone with a rousing speech full of ambitious dreams.
But this ti, he was lost in silent thought, preoccupied with the matter of Overlord Vonier, which was closely tied to his dreams, leaving him with no ti for the other rcenaries.
With him not speaking, others like Sali, even if they wanted to encourage the others, seed unqualified to do so.
After an unknown amount of ti, Eliphas finally snapped out of his thoughts, and the rcenaries looked up at him.
He glanced at his loyal subordinates, intending to announce a retreat for today and to restock supplies for tomorrow’s battle, when he suddenly noticed sothing and asked:
"Where’s Gulen?"
Gulen was the assault captain’s na.
The rcenaries looked at each other, and Sali said, "He went out for so fresh air earlier; I’ll go find him."
The bonfire only protected this small area; stepping out of it ant losing its protection and possibly being attacked by monsters.
But Gulen wouldn’t have gone too far, and with his strength, he wouldn’t fear the nearby monsters.
So he must be fooling around outside.
Sali grimaced, stepped out of the bonfire’s range set by the three corpse warlocks, and gradually disappeared from everyone’s view.
Once he left, he never returned.
The remaining people started questioning, what’s going on here?
Even the slowest person would by now realize sothing was amiss, and the spear cavalry captain volunteered to take a few rcenaries out to check, but Eliphas refused his request.
"I’ll go myself."
Sain Dungeon exudes eerie vibes, and he feared that the spear cavalry captain might also vanish, turning this into one of those horror clichés of ’multiple rescues’.
Under Eliphas’s lead, the rcenaries all charged out.
The magician used Tracking Magic on the item Sali used, revealing his footprints on the ground. They hurriedly followed them, however...
"Gone?"
The footprints abruptly ended, showing that he encountered an unknown event within two hundred ters after leaving the bonfire and losing the trail.
Eliphas signaled everyone to be on high alert and reached for his sword at his waist, only to find nothing.
"Hmm?"
His waist was surprisingly empty, what’s happening?
Perhaps he lost it while fighting the Overlord, so he took a thrusting sword from a rcenary, barely making do.
Eliphas squinted, scanning the surroundings, seemingly looking for traces of sothing, but the next second, he suddenly thrust his magic wand into the ground.
In an instant, waves of water expanded outward, rippling upon hitting objects. He was using this thod to detect if there were invisible enemies nearby!
But the water surface showed no anomalies, and then he used the Anti-stealth Technique against Invisibility, which still had no effect.
What on earth was going on? Everything seed bizarre.
Perhaps they had stayed here too long and attracted the dungeon’s spawning chanism, as a large number of skeleton warriors approached, forcing the rcenaries into battle. Eliphas also faced off against an enhanced Casas Warrior, and although he crushed it, he seed to be taking out his humiliation on the Overlord’s followers by indulging in a vendetta.
Humans, as creatures, often focus on the enemy in chaotic battles, reducing their sensitivity to their surroundings.
A rcenary, unfortunately, got slashed by a skeleton warrior’s weapon, causing a massive spurt of blood from his chest, the wound deep enough to expose bone. As he retreated under the cover of teammates, he recalled he still had a healing potion and was briefly happy, reaching for his pocket.
However, it was empty.
"Where’s my potion?"
He froze for a mont, unable to think in such a critical mont, so he intended to borrow from his comrade nearby...
"Where did he go!? How did he disappear!?"
In just the mont he bowed his head, how did the comrade who was covering him vanish?
The ground bore only the perpetually steaming boots of that comrade, but he was nowhere to be seen.
The next second, the rcenary was cut down by an approaching skeleton warrior.
When he resurrected at the bonfire, he was utterly confused, because the vanished comrade hadn’t returned to the bonfire either!
On the other side, Eliphas, done venting his rage, turned his focus to the chaotic battlefield, preparing to cast a spell to annihilate the remaining skeleton warriors all at once.
But sothing in his peripheral vision caught his attention. As he turned, he saw the Arrow Captain’s quiver instantly lose half its arrows, disappearing into thin air?
