She seed to hear the Brass Woman mumbling sothing under her breath, but she couldn’t make it out. When she turned her head again, the other had returned to her cool deanor.
So be it then.
Following the route suggested by the Brass Woman all the way up, the scene opened up again, and under a twilight-like glow, she took the elevator all the way down.
The central castle of the Royal City, seen earlier from the lookout, appeared before her. A straight boulevard stretched forward, but it didn’t connect directly to the castle. At the end of the road, there was a chanism resembling a rotating elevator.
Standing at the edge of the mainland, she took a closer look and understood why the rotating elevator chanism existed. The castle was simply too tall and massive, so much so that it required such a device to connect the various roads.
Elsa had a hunch that she would get dizzy because of this chanism. Just looking at it from here felt troubleso enough.
Still, you have to give credit where it’s due. Sain Dungeon is as advertised; you can eventually reach any place you can see.
More troubleso was the fact that a glaring Stone Statue Ghost patrolled the road ahead. Just one glance and she could tell this creature was much stronger than the ones that appeared in the swampy areas earlier. This one was several sizes larger, matching the heroic Stone Statue Ghost of the Magic Ring.
And along the edge of the road, there was another Stone Statue Ghost crouched there, waiting to ambush.
Elsa’s tightly clenched fist relaxed again.
"Why can’t I use magic..."
At this ti, having an Invisible Body and sound emission would have made the exploration a lot easier. She missed an episode with Roger the most.
Perhaps she should try persuading the Brass Woman to help her fight the Stone Statue Ghosts together?
Honestly, the giant guards earlier already made her not want to fight anymore. Now, adding two more Stone Statue Ghosts...
Elsa suddenly noticed sothing and walked toward the edge of the road, muttering to herself, "You can actually jump down here."
The sides of the road weren’t completely "cliffs." At the initial stage, there was still a place to stand. She jumped down and promptly set her sights on those beams above.
The buildings of Yanor Londo were crowded together, and between each rooftop were narrow beams just enough for one person to pass.
"Perhaps I can bypass the Stone Statue Ghosts via the beams?"
With this thought, Elsa stepped onto the nearest beam and finally reached another castle. Throughout the journey, she was wary of sothing.
Because Sain loved placing knights wielding big bows in such narrow spots.
Fortunately, there weren’t any here, and she made it over without incident.
"Thank goodness, thank goodness."
"Bang—"
Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief and take a look around, the glass window she was leaning against suddenly shattered. An enemy clad entirely in white robes suddenly sprang out, grabbing her and pulling her inside the building.
At that mont, she was sure her heart rate shot past one hundred.
Driven by instinct, Elsa swung her sword to counterattack, but the white-clad enemy seed remarkably agile, performing a backflip to avoid the Sword Corpse Greatsword’s sweep and even threw a few flying knives like a ninja.
"Such agile moves!"
Elsa did her best to dodge, but she was still grazed by the flying knives; luckily, the blades weren’t poisoned.
The enemy appearing here was called a Painting ssenger.
This type of agile opponent had always been a headache for Elsa, but if there was only one enemy, it would be manageable.
"Clang!"
Just thinking that, she suddenly heard a whooshing sound from the side and instinctively spun her sword, blocking the flying knife that was attempting a sneak attack on her.
"Are there more enemies?"
When she got a clear look at the scene before her, Elsa’s words ca to an abrupt halt.
There was more than one Painting ssenger, and not just two.
She was located at the top floor of a spacious hall, surrounded by countless beams, where even a slight misstep would result in a deadly fall.
And on these complex interwoven beams, standing at each intersection was a Painting ssenger. Looking around, they seed like white waves.
So Painting ssengers even showcased their skills by repeatedly jumping back and forth on various beams.
"..."
Elsa took a deep breath, her hands slightly trembling, muttering to herself:
"No wonder Yanor Londo went into decline. Who would want to live in such an underworld-like place?"
