Of course, most people only make it halfway, or even not at all.
"Actually, Count Bed already sent a batch of true limited edition items ahead of ti," Selene glanced at the small sculpture she placed by the bedside and couldn’t help but smile, "But thank you anyway."
The top of Ancient Dragon Peak has recently beco popular for an unexpected reason, that is, the number of souls obtained by killing a Monster.
The number of souls a giant snake man can provide is almost the sa as those from the giant guards in Painting World, Yanor Londo, perhaps slightly less, and Ancient Dragon Peak can be entered in teams.
Thus, so adventurers began using giant snake n to accumulate souls, and the number split evenly among the teammates is quite decent. Even a day’s inco here could make a wolf smile.
Accruing souls isn’t necessarily for upgrading; consumption at rchants like Curry constitutes one major destination for souls—that is, souls cannot circulate among adventurers, or soone would definitely use souls as currency.
"Jingling!"
The sound of armor collision is heard, and upon closer inspection, several heavy-armored adventurers pass behind Fingerley and them, wearing armor that looks awfully like Havier Warriors!?
It’s not just similar; it’s an imitation!
"These guys are imitators of Havier Warriors; recently, quite a few heavy armored warriors have transitioned into this style."
Fingerley lowered his voice and whispered, "To be honest, this bunch has been so demoralized by the Havier Warriors’ beatings that they resorted to this."
What kind of people dare to start imitating the attire of an enemy that has humiliated them dozens of tis? Do they probably hope to disguise themselves as comrades?
Selene wore an expression of wanting to laugh but fearing to draw attention, unable to laugh out loud; adventurers are indeed intriguing.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
A knock sounded, and in a second, she swiftly put away the transmission device, re-attached the necklace to her neck, and tidied everything up.
It seems so magic power still remained in the transmission device, but that’s alright; the image is turned off, waiting for the residual magic power to dissipate naturally.
"Princess, the King has fallen asleep; you can proceed with the visit now."
"Hmm."
Selene responded indifferently and, when she arrived at King Ainz III’s bedchamber, she was accompanied by four fully ard knights and two attendants.
The doors to the King’s bedchamber slowly opened, the air blowing from within carrying an indescribable beastly scent.
The attendants dared not light lamps, guiding the Princess to Ainz III’s resting bed.
At this ti, Ainz III maintained a human form, lying exhausted on the bed, breathing unevenly, sounding unpleasant like a broken bellows.
Today was a rare day of peace for the King, and on such days, Princess Selene usually visits.
"Princess, please."
The attendants brought hot water and towels, Selene accepted and ticulously cleaned Ainz III’s body, stained with miscellaneous hair, depicting a scene of parental warmth and filial care.
She lowered her eyes to look at the weary Ainz III, her eyes full of sympathy and a hint of resentnt.
She hadn’t yet communicated with her father; visits like today aren’t the first, and this action was initiated by her.
Selene felt that her insignificant visits and care weren’t due to affection, but rather a similar feeling of shared plight, feeling that both were trapped in the Royal Palace.
The difference was she remained relatively clear-minded.
The visiting ti wouldn’t be long, as the knights and attendants feared the awakened King might be detrintal to the Princess.
Yet, just as it was about to end, a crisp voice echoed.
"Everyone, leave."
Upon hearing the voice, Selene shuddered and turned to look.
Eliphas was smiling at her.
Why was he here at this ti!?
A bad on climbed to the peak, seeing the attendants obediently leaving, even kindly shutting the door, she forced a smile and said, "Lord Eliphas, we should also leave... Ah!"
She let out a suppressed scream as Eliphas suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"What, what are you doing?"
Eliphas remained silent, only drawing closer to Selene, his gaze playful as he looked at her.
Behind Selene was the King’s bed, cornered unless she collapsed onto the King.
She nervously watched him; Eliphas never gave off such an odd feeling, and she didn’t know what to do.
anwhile, Eliphas contemplated her, but his mind focused on another man—Griffith.
Gazing at Selene, pondering what kind of ntality Griffith had when committing such actions against the Princess, leading to a series of subsequent tragedies.
For days, he had been studying Griffith’s psyche without any particular reason, just feeling there was sothing worth learning.
And now he visited Selene to dive deeper, more comprehensively imrse himself into Griffith’s role.
Eliphas furrowed his brow, unable to imagine it.
Why not simply emulate the initial action like that predecessor?
He’s not interested in won, but not repelled either.
The mont he considered this thought, Selene seemingly sensed it telepathically; she gasped, never expecting he’d dare contemplate such deeds!
Especially here, in the King’s bedchamber!
Those attendants seed to be his people, thinking this way, he indeed possessed unruly authority here.
Deep powerlessness enveloped Selene, watching Eliphas steadily firming his resolve, she bit her lip.
Should she use the [Return to Hotown] to escape?
This thought arose, with no retreat left, her skirt brushed over the King’s body.
"Selene..."
Eliphas seized her hands, his eyes still reflecting thought, as if the girl before him was rely a tool aiding his reflection.
Selene made up her mind.
"I—"
"Ahhhh!"
A roar resonated; Eliphas rapidly retreated, yet his face was marked with three deep scratches!
Selene, thrown aside hitting the ground, disregarded pain, but stared at the soaring figure in astonishnt.
It’s Ainz III!
The abruptly beastified figure stood between Eliphas and Selene like a towering wall!
Eliphas touched the scratches on his face, his gaze suddenly icy, drawing the dagger from his waist.
Just then, the door burst open violently.
He thought the guards ca and imdiately rebuffed, "Get out!"
However, responding to him was frantic, semi-human, semi-beast roars!
Several Alien figures lunged at Eliphas; they appeared beastified, but the degree seed more relaxed than the King’s!
Moreover, judging by their attire... these Beastification n were precisely the knights and attendants who just left!
Eliphas revealed a surprised look for the first ti.
On the Princess’s necklace, the transmission device, impacted, showed a reaction.
