Chapter 125: The Extraordinary Charisma of Bai Fu, Main Storyline Begins
After issuing the mission to investigate the Truth Society and the Gene Primordials, Bai Fu returned to her residence.
The corpses of the assassins and the damage caused by the battle would be handled by Sean and the others. Having just finished a fight, she took a comfortable bath, then lay face-down on the bed, letting Tiny Hei Fu massage her shoulders and feet.
In terms of massage, Tiny Hei Fu wasn’t exactly a professional, but due to its petite body, the strength of its kneading was just right for Bai Fu.
“This is the life.”
Bai Fu let out a relaxed sound.
Tiny Yulia, lying on the bedside table, couldn’t help but complain, “You really don’t mind letting such an adorable thing massage your feet, huh?”
Bai Fu chuckled softly, “If I don’t let it do it, should I let you? Plenty of people want to do it and don’t get the chance.”
Not that she would mind either.
Tiny Yulia, in the end, didn’t voice her true thoughts.
She had already made Bai Fu wary of her. Now was absolutely not the ti to give Bai Fu another scare!
Of course, she wasn’t lusting after Bai Fu’s warden physique—what was even the point of that?
What she craved was Bai Fu as a whole. From their first eting, she’d wanted to know how Bai Fu managed to break her control.
After spending ti together, watching Bai Fu go from being unable to defeat even her initial doppelgänger to casually slaughtering a high-level esper, her craving for Bai Fu had only deepened.
This wasn’t sothing that could be explained by re recovery of strength—there had to be a tantalizing secret hidden within Bai Fu!
It was only because she was currently a doll and couldn’t move that she hadn’t rushed over to fling Tiny Hei Fu aside and ruthlessly work Bai Fu’s feet to harvest a few cells for proper research.
Just as Tiny Yulia was imagining her future prospects, Bai Fu, lying on the bed, suddenly made a curious noise.
“What is it?”
Bai Fu didn’t answer Tiny Yulia. Just monts ago, while browsing the Community, she realized her recent performance had inadvertently beco a massive advertisent for Psionic Classes.
Now, many Players were treating Psionic Classes as a blessing for newbies. While calling her the [True Cyber Goddess of rcy] and [Savior of the Clumsy-handed], they began flocking to Bai Fu Town in droves.
Not only were external Players affected—even those from the Garden of Silence were moved after watching her elegantly use the Void Energy Orb to thrash the assassin.
Many Players who had previously been uninterested in Psionic Classes bought a Profession Knowledge Book for the Psionic Prayer-user, and picked up two skills at the store. After all, it only cost 2,300 XP total.
This wave of enthusiasm netted her over a million XP in a short ti.
Bai Fu: “……”
Was this supposed to be good news?
In the short term, these Players would undoubtedly bring her massive XP gains, but over ti, they’d realize Psionic Classes weren’t as simple as they thought.
Still, the problem wasn’t that big on further thought.
She could just put Psionic Shield and Psionic Protection for sale in the Pre-Battle Loadout Shop.
Even the weakest Psionic Class Players could secure a place in Player squads with those two shielding skills alone—way more comfortable than output roles.
Moreover, she could keep expanding the Hei Fu Factory, letting Tiny Hei Fu produce more Combat-type Prayer Cards to sell in the shop. That way, all Psionic Class Players could fight just as elegantly as she did.
What? Not as elegant as her?
Clearly, they just hadn’t spent enough money. If a Player spent another seventy grand in her shop, would they still look like this?
Bai Fu was in an excellent mood.
This alone showed her influence and appeal had grown truly massive. She had to harness this popularity and keep pressing forward so she wouldn’t be left behind once the ga officially entered the interstellar era, reduced to a relic of an old version.
Tiny Yulia observed Bai Fu’s changing expressions the whole ti. Even though Bai Fu hadn’t said a word, she was certain soone was about to have a very bad day.
Despite Bai Fu’s polished and glamorous appearance, and her gentle deanor in front of others, she was in truth quite vicious. In comparison, that silent Hei Fu looked far more well-behaved.
Lately, she’d heard the Undying Ones say that Bai Fu and Hei Fu together embodied the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night. Supposedly, Bai Fu represented the gentle and kind side, while Hei Fu embodied the cunning and deceptive half.
She could only say—if Bai Fu Hei Fu really equaled the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night, then their roles were absolutely reversed.
Better not speak of this aloud—otherwise, Bai Fu might kill her.
“By the way, you really don’t know where you’re being held?” Bai Fu suddenly asked.
Tiny Yulia paused for a mont and replied blankly, “No idea.”
Her tone turned slightly gloomy. She craved Bai Fu so much, but the question remained—would her real body ever have the chance to et Bai Fu?
Bai Fu nodded.
If, after sending so many Players out and posting a bounty on the Dark Web, she still couldn’t uncover the Truth Society’s true hideout, then she might have no choice but to shift her focus toward the Gene Primordials.
……
While Bai Fu was cheerfully accumulating XP, the major factions were receiving intel from Bai Fu Town and the Dark Web.
Half a day ago, Bai Fu had been attacked by soone claiming to be an assassin from the Truth Society. That assassin was a high-level esper, yet Bai Fu had utterly crushed him.
What Bai Fu’s true strength was had now beco a full-blown mystery.
Just how deep and unfathomable was this woman?
The Old Republic and Railway Guild were closest to the Goli Desert, so they received the news first.
On the Railway Guild’s side, Su Li imdiately contacted Bai Fu to express her concern, while the Old Republic took a more complex stance.
Due to previous conflicts between Bai Fu and Behim, the Old Republic had clapped in celebration upon hearing that Bai Fu had been attacked by the Truth Society. Finally, soone else was suffering besides them—better still, it was Bai Fu.
But after learning that Bai Fu ca out unscathed and had even destroyed the assassin, their expressions turned as ugly as if they’d swallowed a fly.
Damn it, there’s no need to report this kind of news in the future!
Soon after, the Truth Society also received the news.
“This is a conspiracy!” reported Bernardo, Minister of the Combat Unit of the Truth Society. “Soone deliberately sent an assassin to kill Bai Fu to completely provoke a conflict between us and her.”
“Bai Fu is powerful, and she has so many Undying Ones under her command. If she really latches onto us, we’ll be at a severe disadvantage.”
Others chid in.
“How did she even ta those Undying Ones? We used Modification Technology and still only recruited a tenth of what she did.”
“Maybe she has a charm-type esper power, or maybe the Undying Ones just like how she looks.”
The voices in the eting room were low and the faces grave.
The President of the Truth Society, listening to the report, also didn’t look pleased. But it wasn’t because Bai Fu had reacted strongly to their organization—it was because he had severely underestimated her strength.
If he’d known Bai Fu was this formidable, he would have made a much more sincere effort to recruit her.
As for now... one could only say, what a pity.
If he had the chance, he still wanted to et Bai Fu again, to see where exactly Bai Fu's extraordinary charisma ca from.
The President swept his gaze across the room. “No need to worry. She doesn’t know where our main base is, nor does she know our operational plans. Once we initiate our operation, even if she receives the news imdiately, it will be too late. And once our plan succeeds, she and those Undying Ones will never be able to threaten us again.”
These words brought a slight sense of relief to everyone in the eting room.
True enough.
They began executing the President’s orders, preparing for the final assault on the Gene Primordials.
For a mont, the entire main base of the Truth Society was abuzz with activity. Even Players like Tai’er Zhenren, who had been pulled in as test subjects, were temporarily extracted from the labs to carry out heavy lifting.
“What’s going on?”
Tai’er Zhenren asked the NPC next to him with curiosity.
The NPC snapped impatiently, “Don’t ask questions you shouldn’t!”
Tai’er Zhenren curled his lip and kept moving crates. After half an hour of manual labor, he unintentionally overheard the NPC who had scolded him complaining to another NPC.
“I haven’t left the main base in ages. Now they’re suddenly drafting us... sigh, I just hope everything goes smoothly.”
“Don’t worry. You still don’t trust the President’s capabilities?”
Tai’er Zhenren froze on the spot. He couldn’t even register what the two NPCs said afterward.
What had he just heard?
Main base!
This place he was in was the Truth Society’s main base?
And to think he’d been scheming all this ti on how to locate the Truth Society’s base—turns out he had been living in the treasure trove the whole ti, just unaware. Still, finding out now wasn’t too late.
Jackpot. After laboring undercover for an entire version, his mont to strike had finally arrived!
Tai’er Zhenren forcibly suppressed his excitent. He didn’t want a single misstep to blow his cover and ruin all his efforts.
He pretended as if nothing had happened and continued lifting crates, secretly ssaging Digging Girl in the process.
【Digging-Digging, I’ve got sothing super important to tell you. Ping back as soon as you see this.】
……
On the evening of the day following the assassination attempt, Bai Fu received a ssage from the Iron Rain Guild.
A Player from the Iron Rain Guild had successfully contacted Xia Shi. After earning her trust, Xia Shi asked the Player to deliver sothing for her.
“It’s a dossier. Xia Shi said it’s related to the origin of psionics on Origin Star. Because the file is extrely important, we haven’t opened it. We’re figuring out how to get it back safely,” reported Old Dog, a senior mber of the Iron Rain Guild stationed in Bai Fu Town.
Bai Fu’s eyes lit up.
Could it be that the mission she had received back at the Lynn Settlent—【Source of Psionic Power】—was finally about to be completed?
She asked, “How is Xia Shi doing now?”
Old Dog replied, “She’s now the lab supervisor. Seems to be doing pretty well.”
Bai Fu nodded. “Get that file back as soon as you can. It might be related to the truth of how Origin Star ended up like this.”
Old Dog’s pupils contracted. Was she implying this dossier might be tied to one of the main storylines?
Perfect. If they could successfully deliver the file, their mission performance would definitely crush that of the Loyalty Hall next door!
Old Dog left overjoyed.
For Bai Fu, the good news had only just begun.
After two full versions of cultivating her popularity, she was finally reaping the rewards in version 1.2—both in XP and intelligence.
Following Old Dog’s departure, more Players ca to deliver fresh intel on the Gene Primordials. Half of these tips ca from Players aligned with the Gene Primordials faction. After seeing how well the Garden of Silence treated its mbers—and how beautiful and strong Bai Fu was as its Palace Master—these Players betrayed their faction and spilled secrets.
This... was the allure of a true popularity-harvesting Princess!
In just half a day, without even leaving her ho, Bai Fu had learned the specific locations and responsible personnel of multiple Gene Primordials laboratories and arms factories. She had also gained a rough understanding of their high-level espers and even discovered that the Gene Primordials had secretly used technology developed at the Marine Biology Research Institute to produce nurous Artificial Humans.
“What the hell are these guys trying to do? Secretly building an army of Artificial Humans?”
Bai Fu was deeply intrigued.
Just as she pondered the situation, Digging Girl, there to interview her, brought even more explosive news.
“Fu-fu, we’ve found the location of the Truth Society’s main base!”
