Chapter 62: Truth Society, I’m f***ing here!

Outside the laboratory, seeing this scene, Guido silently left.

He had thought these spies would be tough. Turns out? Just this?

Back in the lounge, he found Yulia already there, staring expressionlessly at a photo of Bai Fu hanging on the wall.

He curled his lips, saying nothing to Yulia.

Yulia had an extrely poor reputation within the Truth Society.

On one hand, it was because she was aloof and arrogant, always wearing a sullen face as if she looked down on everyone, which made many people hostile toward her.

On the other hand, her identity was quite special. She hadn’t truly joined the Truth Society of her own volition; rather, she had been forced into it after being captured by the President. Because of that, few within the Truth Society tried to build any sort of relationship with her.

But one had to admit, Yulia's actual strength was terrifyingly formidable.

Her abilities were classified as forbidden-level within the Truth Society.

Even just the ones she had shown—enslaving others, creating doppelgängers, wide-area bombardnts, levitating mid-air, forming psychic fields—any single one of these would make others skyrocket in standing.

This was why Guido believed that with Yulia on their side, they could eliminate Bai Fu.

“I heard Bai Fu is here?”

Suddenly, Yulia’s voice sounded in the room.

Guido was stunned for a second before replying, “That’s right.”

“Perfect. I was just about to go find her. Didn’t expect she’d deliver herself.”

Yulia licked her lips, her ice-blue eyebrows relaxing with excitent.

She didn’t want to go crazy like this, but ti wasn’t on her side.

Once the Truth Society figured out the full extent of her powers, she would lose all value.

She had to break free of this cage as soon as possible.

Hopefully, Bai Fu wouldn’t disappoint her.

Guido ignored the seemingly unstable Yulia.

After sitting down on a chair, he imdiately transmitted the events at the Bagaros Base back to Headquarters.

Upon receiving the ssage, Minister of the Combat Unit Bernardo’s heart skipped a beat. He imdiately sensed trouble.

Trembling, he went to find the President, who was in the interrogation room executing soone. Seeing that the person inside had already stopped breathing, cold sweat stread down his forehead.

“P... President, Guido just sent a report.”

“What, he and Yulia already killed Bai Fu?” The President turned around, wiping his hands with a tissue.

Bernardo said, “No, they haven’t even set out yet. Bai Fu and the Gene Primordials were drawn over by the bait we set at Bagaros and then...”

The President’s face darkened. “Don’t tell the operation to kill Bai Fu failed again?”

“That’s not it.” Bernardo swallowed hard. “It’s much worse. Just now, the Bagaros Base captured one of Bai Fu’s lackeys...”

He recounted what had just happened.

No explanation was needed.

After hearing everything, the President imdiately understood that the reason Li Cheng’s identity had been exposed was 99% unrelated to an internal traitor.

It was because Bai Fu’s lackey nad Wolong Fengchu had a resurrection-type ability.

So...

He turned around, looking at the high-ranking mber of the Truth Society he had just killed under the pretense of an internal purge.

No wonder that person had stubbornly insisted, no matter how much torture he endured, even with Yulia’s abilities involved, that he had nothing to do with Bai Fu or the Gene Primordials.

It wasn’t that he had a tough mouth, but rather that... he really wasn’t the mole.

He had simply embezzled a large amount of money.

“Bai! Fu!”

The hoarse voice was forcibly squeezed out from the depths of his throat.

Bernardo was drenched in sweat.

After a long while, he finally heard the President say, “Today’s incident must not leak out.”

Bernardo wouldn’t dare say otherwise, imdiately agreeing.

On the other side, as one of the main combat forces of this operation under Division Four, Bai Fu was attending a pre-war eting hosted by the military arm of the Gene Primordials.

For this assault on Bagaros Base, the Gene Primordials had mobilized quite a number of personnel.

Perhaps in retaliation for the Truth Society’s disgraceful defection of Li Cheng, even the Intelligence Bureau had dispatched both Division Three and Division Four.

From the military’s side, they had also sent individuals who held significant sway within the Gene Primordials.

However, this led to a problem—

Too many people. Too many opinions.

As soon as the eting began, it devolved into a shouting match.

Regarding whether the Intelligence Bureau should first scout and then launch the main assault, or whether the military should initiate the attack while the Intelligence Bureau seizes the opportunity to infiltrate Bagaros Base, the attendees were locked in a heated argunt.

Lu Yuelin, who usually preferred slacking off, surprisingly beca one of the main debaters this ti.

Even when facing threats from military representatives, he showed no fear.

"You might think Boss Lu usually acts all nonchalant, but when it cos to facing external threats, he really steps up. Otherwise, how could all those well-connected folks in Division Four be willing to follow him? Who wouldn’t like a leader who doesn’t ddle internally but is always willing to take the heat from the outside?"

Xu Hong whispered to Bai Fu.

Bai Fu nodded.

Her impression of Division Four was actually quite decent.

Except for that bastard Li Cheng, no one else had really made things difficult for her.

Recently, whenever they saw her, they’d call her Sister Fu or Sister Bai, sweet-talking nonstop.

Bai Fu glanced around the room, and just then, she suddenly received a ga prompt.

【Due to your indirect influence, the Truth Society has suffered a certain degree of damage】

What the heck?

Bai Fu was a bit confused.

She was just sitting here attending a eting, doing nothing at all—how did the Truth Society end up damaged because of her?

She quickly opened the plot quest 【Truth Unknown】, which had been triggered after she eliminated the second wave of assassins sent by Li Cheng.

After dragging Li Cheng out, the quest progress had gone from 0% to 0.13%, and it hadn’t moved since. But now, she saw the progress had sohow jumped to 0.28%.

What the hell, was this a bug in the ga?

Bai Fu was baffled.

She scrolled through the ga prompts for quite a while but still couldn’t figure out what had happened.

Still, since the quest progress had increased, that couldn’t possibly be a bad thing, so she decided to let it go.

“Is the eting over?”

She asked Xu Hong and Xia Shi beside her.

Xia Shi said, “The final decision is that our Intelligence Bureau will scout first. The actual operation will begin in half an hour.”

Bai Fu had no objections.

Not that her objections would’ve changed anything anyway.

While she and Xia Shi were chatting, the military representative Bask suddenly walked over.

“You’re Bai Fu, right? I’m Bask from the Gene Primordials Combat Strategy Office.” Bask wore a gentle smile. “I heard it was thanks to your Division Four that we managed to catch that traitor Li Cheng. I’m looking forward to your performance in this operation.”

He just gave a brief greeting before leaving.

Bai Fu didn’t think much of it and instinctively cast a Psionic Vision on the stranger she had just t, but the returned data was quite interesting.

【Favorability】: Hostile (-31)

“Was he close to Li Cheng?” Bai Fu asked.

Xia Shi shook her head. “Never heard of any connection between them.”

That made no sense.

What she had done didn’t affect him—could it be that he was also a spy for the Truth Society? Or maybe he was just jealous of her beauty?

Bai Fu maintained a calm expression, planning to assign a Player to keep an eye on Bask in case sothing went wrong.

She had brought over so many Players—if she didn’t make good use of them, it would be a total waste.

Once she stepped outside, she saw Excavation‑Princess rushing over.

“This is bad, Fu‑fu, sothing terrible happened!”

“What is it?” Bai Fu was slightly taken aback.

Excavation‑Princess glanced at Xu Hong and Xia Shi a few tis, then showed a troubled expression.

Bai Fu instantly understood and took her aside. “You can tell now.”

Excavation‑Princess said, “Just now, Sword Qi Soaring and the others snuck off to Bagaros, and then they got caught by people from the Truth Society. Our movents are now exposed. The only good news is, they managed to transmit the location of Bagaros Base.”

She handed Bai Fu a hand-drawn map, with a large red X marked on it.

The mont she saw the red X, Bai Fu’s eyes glead sharply.

The location of Bagaros Base indicated by this red X was entirely different from the one marked on the military’s map presented during the eting.

So Bagaros really was a trap set by the Truth Society. They had constructed a fake base, while the real one was located several li away.

Too bad, no matter how cunning the Truth Society was, they could never anticipate the existence of sothing even more cunning—Players.

Bai Fu looked at the more than one hundred Players who had co with her.
