"They won't let Sixth pick up anything, and if he tries, they beat him..."

Old Li remarked in amazent.

Upon hearing this, everyone felt a heaviness in their hearts.

The boy is only 14... They don't even know his real na, "Sixth" is just a nickna others gave him...

No one imagined the environnt he lived in was so harsh while he was alive!

"Why didn't they go to the police?" Liu Jin frowned and asked.

"The police? For sothing like this? Going to the police just to get scolded?"

Old Li clicked his tongue, taking another drag from his cigarette as he spoke.

Upon hearing this, Liu Jin realized Old Li misunderstood him and clarified, "I an, going to the police for a al or sothing."

If soone is truly starving and has no money for food, they can always go to the police station.

For holess people, the police would even arrange work for them.

"I just can't get through to you," Old Li impatiently waved his hand.

Liu Jin wanted to say sothing else.

But Chen Changchun stopped him; from the backseat, Chen Changchun asked:

"Does Sixth have any other enemies?"

"Not just for picking up scraps, but people who beat him so badly that he was covered in blood!"

This ti, Old Li started to seriously ponder.

To be honest, most people dislike holess individuals.

It's not that they dislike them personally, but they resent the germs, the unhygienic conditions, especially the sll.

If they washed up and stood before you, almost no one would care.

So, generally speaking, no one would purposely target the holess, much less beat them.

But...

"There are quite a few."

After thinking long and hard, Old Li suddenly spoke:

"A few school kids."

"Once, when I was collecting garbage, I saw at the school that when Sixth was picking up trash, quite a few little brats were there beating him up."

"It was only when I showed up that Sixth was able to escape!"

Recalling this, Old Li was seething with anger.

A few students...

In an instant.

Xu Liang, Chen Changchun, and the others paused.

If they rembered correctly.

At the cri scene, they made several guesses about the perpetrator.

One of the possibilities was multiple perpetrators, and... they weren't very old!

Minors!?

Chen Changchun felt his heart sink.

If that turns out to be true, even if the case gets solved, closing it will still be extrely difficult for the police...

"Why'd they beat up Sixth?" Xu Liang asked on the side.

"Is there really a need for so many 'whys'?"

Old Li seed sowhat impatient, or perhaps just annoyed with those people.

"They see him picking up trash and just feel like hitting him!?"

"They see he's a holess person and just think of him as less than human."

"So people see a dog lying by the roadside and feel the urge to kick it, why do you think they do that?"

Upon hearing this.

Xu Liang was left speechless.

Indeed.

This world is filled with unexplainable malice.

Like bullying in school, or as Old Li said, the unprovoked kicking of a dog.

So people just want to bully others without any reason.

And Sixth, being a holess person with no ability to defend himself, beca their perfect 'toy' for venting such malice.

In a daze.

Amidst the silence within the car, Old Li suddenly exclaid loudly:

"We're here!"

He pointed to an abandoned bridge and spoke.

Liu Jin drove and parked the police car beneath the bridge, then slowly ca to a stop.

"Clack!"

The car door opened, and the group scanned their surroundings.

After Old Li confird the location, he spoke up:

"This is where Sixth lived. See if there's anything you need to look for."

No one imdiately responded.

By this ti, it was already five in the morning.

The sky was still pitch black, but at least it wasn't completely dark, allowing a bit of visibility.

The group carefully watched their steps over the uneven ground as they proceeded inside.

Above them was a small stone bridge, and under it was a hollow area. There used to be a small stream flowing through, but it had long dried up; after a little arrangent, it could still serve as a makeshift shelter against the wind and rain.

"Captain Chen, there's sothing here!"

Soone suddenly exclaid from the corner.

Xu Liang was about to head over.

But suddenly he paused, spotting a bloodstained rock at his feet, and was montarily stunned.

After taking a quick survey of the area, he sniffed slightly, furrowed his brows, and walked in another direction.

The other officers hurried toward the source of the voice, shining their flashlights as they moved.

"Clack!"

The flashlight beam suddenly illuminated a scene of a tal pot and several chipped bowls in front of them.

Inside the pot, porridge had frozen into a block of ice.

"It's gone bad." Liu Jin sniffed and stated.

In this weather, for porridge to spoil, it's unimaginable how long it must have sat there, untouched...

Chen Changchun didn't respond.

He surveyed the surroundings.

Sixth was quite ingenious.

Living under the bridge wasn't an ideal situation, as it would be drafty in winter!

However, if one moved into the crevices on either side and blocked them with cardboard or sothing, it would beco a more windproof and rainproof 'ho'.

"There are signs of it having been searched."

Chen Changchun suddenly aid his flashlight at the ground.

The group turned to look.

What was on the ground?

There was dirt.

But besides the dirt, there were also....

Footprints!

"The killer's footprints?"

Liu Jin paused, a question popping into his mind.

There were no footprints at the cri scene, aning these prints might belong to Sixth himself.

Though.....

That would only apply if Sixth's feet weren't stained with his own blood!

Before them was a bloody footprint!!!

"Is this the murder scene?"

Chen Changchun furrowed his brows.

He scanned the surroundings.

Not a soul could be seen around, making it indeed an ideal place for murder.

But...

Who would co here out of the blue to do such a thing!?

"Check the surroundings for signs of a struggle," Chen Changchun quietly instructed Liu Jin.
