Now reading: Chapter 624 - 576: Senior Brother Haoyun: Yay! Rarely do I g from Who would study psychology unless they had some issues?!, a Urban novel by Panda's Big Log Cabin.

Honestly, sotis even Nan Zhubin finds it hard to judge the ntal state of graduate students without using scales.

"Graduate student during the day, studying to death at night" isn’t just a joke.

Faced with a quantum superposition-like ntal state akin to Schrödinger’s cat, it seems nothing a graduate student says is too surprising...

Wait a minute, perhaps such a ntal state is more suited for research and makes it easier to touch the boundaries of human knowledge?

Nan Zhubin doesn’t know, so in response to Senior Brother Haoyun’s praise about his "wave," he tentatively asks in a curious tone, "Senior brother, what does that an?"

Nan Zhubin looks at the screen, where his so-called "beautiful" wave is nothing but a jumble of dense lines.

"Oh." Senior Brother Haoyun suddenly lifts his head, "Maybe it’s because you’re particularly ’charged’!"

Nan Zhubin blinks.

"Ah, what I an is—" Senior Brother Haoyun pulls himself away from the reluctance of seeing good data, "Many subjects’ EEGs are quite strange, but your brainwaves are different. They’re very steady, just like what I see in textbooks."

Senior Brother Haoyun adds, "And usually, when we find subjects, just getting them ’connected’ requires applying gel several tis, even needing to reapply during the experint. But not with you, you connect right away... good, very good!"

The excitent on his face couldn’t be faked.

Oh, so that’s what "beautiful wave" and "particularly ’charged’" an.

Nan Zhubin blinks, choosing not to comnt.

The undergraduate junior sister quickly cleans Nan Zhubin’s head and sequentially injects gel into the dozen points on the sh cap.

The brainwaves on the screen beco more regular, triggering another wave of exclamation from Senior Brother Haoyun.

"Alright, your static potential has been recorded, let’s have a brief chat next and record the shape of your brainwaves in a different state."

Senior Brother Haoyun, following the format of the instructions, says to Nan Zhubin, "No need to be nervous, it’s just a regular chat. Of course, if anything I say next provokes extra emotions, do let know."

Nan Zhubin nods.

"Where are you from, junior brother?"

"Jiang Province."

"Oh, that’s far from here." Senior Brother Haoyun sighs, "It’s not easy to make a round trip, is it?"

Nan Zhubin thinks for a mont, "Not too bad, my ticket here was paid by the professor."

Senior Brother Haoyun is montarily at a loss, seemingly experiencing an emotional fluctuation as the main tester, though thankfully his head isn’t wired.

"Ah... ah, I’ve heard about it, after all, the professor holds you in high regard." Senior Brother Haoyun says, "Jiang Province... Jiang Province is a good place too, they say it’s a water town in the south, has great weather, unlike the dry Beidu."

"It’s alright, quite humid." Nan Zhubin reflects, "There’s a typhoon every year or so, but it’s still much better compared to the Yangtze River basin."

Senior Brother Haoyun seems to make a joke, "I heard you recently joined the professor’s disaster area psychological aid team, maybe you could go back south to collect data soon... never mind, best not."

Feeling like he cracked a grim joke, Senior Brother Haoyun stops himself, then continues, "Going ho for winter break?"

Nan Zhubin answers, "Winter break or not doesn’t really matter, probably won’t go back."

"Why not?"

"Nothing to do if I go back." Nan Zhubin says calmly.

Senior Brother Haoyun glances at the computer screen; the graph indeed looks different when Nan Zhubin speaks, but overall it remains quite stable and lovely.

He sighs inwardly at the effective data yet again and asks, "Do you have many friends around here?"

"Not really, mostly just people from the professor’s lab and a few from the research group."

"That’s basically no friends then?" Senior Brother Haoyun quickly remarks, "Any girlfriend?"

Nan Zhubin’s expression doesn’t change, "No."

Beside him, the junior sister eagerly listens and takes note of all the information about Nan Zhubin ntioned in this conversation. While the experintal main tester should respect the subject’s information, as a senior brother from the research group... it feels like a loophole she can exploit.

Senior Brother Haoyun nods at the computer screen once more, and by now, Nan Zhubin’s EEG baseline is established.

This process is quite similar to when Nan Zhubin used [Micro-expression Analysis·Basic] to establish an expression baseline earlier; they both start with a bunch of everyday questions.

However, Nan Zhubin’s efficiency is higher than the machine Senior Brother Haoyun is currently working with.

...

Senior Brother Haoyun is already rolling up his sleeves, eager to see this beautiful wave. Once the experint begins, the data collected is bound to be remarkable!

Thinking this, Senior Brother Haoyun opens a program on the computer in front of Nan Zhubin and says, "Next, just follow the program’s instructions."

Nan Zhubin nods.

The experintal instructions are essentially a way to "translate" the psychological jargon into terms a layperson can understand, explaining the rules of the experint to the subject.

Displaying the instructions on the computer prevents the main tester’s language or potential emotional interference from affecting the subject.

They then see a line of text appear on the computer—[Hello, welco to participate in this experint.]

[This experint is a compound type, consisting of two different experints, taking about two hours in total.]

[The first experint will take about an hour, then there will be a ten-minute break before proceeding with the second experint.]

[Upon completing the experint, you will receive a compensation of 200 yuan.]
