Capítulo 710: Chapter 623: Two Plans

The conference had long since ended, and the four research teams, along with their respective ntors, left with their own thoughts.

Professor Ji’s expression was even gloomier than the sky outside.

He took a deep breath, but soon choked on the sweet and cloying sll of instant coffee inside the tent. The more he looked at the tent, the more frustrated he beca, so he simply took his apprentice back to their own small office.

At this mont, Teacher Yijin Jiao had also returned. His hairstyle had beco disheveled, just as the camp manager had anticipated. It was unclear if this was due to a lack of ti to manage it or because he had been arguing with Weng Pinting all day, leaving even his hair in a daze.

However, upon seeing his ntor return, the normally unkempt Yijin Jiao put on a brave face and greeted him, “Teacher…”

He hadn’t even finished a complete sentence when Professor Ji, who had been holding it in all the way, finally erupted.

“Outrageous!”

Professor Ji threw his briefcase against the wall, and the docunts inside exploded out like fireworks: “Each and every one of them usually has so reputation, but in critical monts, all they know is how to shirk responsibility!”

“How can we carry out projects or conduct research with such people?!”

Teacher Jiao shrank back, not daring to respond.

The students would have to pick up everything scattered around eventually — but now was clearly not the ti to worry about that. After quietly learning from the junior students the reason for their ntor’s fury, Teacher Jiao dared not speak further.

Professor Ji’s chest heaved, and after scolding for so ti, he finally cald down enough to think clearly.

But the fury from being subtly “betrayed” and belittled by his peers, mixed with his determination to tackle the tough nut of [Group Hysteria], continued to blaze fiercely in his heart.

He was absolutely unwilling to give up just like that.

“If they can’t do it, it’s because their skills are poor, and their thods are inflexible!” Professor Ji panted, as if analyzing to his apprentice and to himself.

“Xiao Jiao!” he suddenly gestured for his apprentice.

“Have you been reading at least one paper on [Group Hysteria] each night before sleep as instructed?”

Since deciding to intervene in [Group Hysteria], Professor Ji had consciously started learning and organizing. He asked his students to read papers while he read even more.

“Tell your current understanding of [Group Hysteria]!”

Startled by being called upon, Teacher Jiao imdiately recited as if reading from a textbook: “[Group Hysteria] is essentially the ‘conversion’ of unbearable psychological stress into somatic symptoms under high-pressure, closed environnts through observation and suggestion by individuals! It’s a twisted psychological defense chanism, irrational…”

Professor Ji didn’t continue listening after hearing the start; his apprentice’s recitation served more like background white noise for his thinking.

He stood up and paced around the room. During this process, one by one, the students of his research team returned, quickly gathering together.

Professor Ji’s workspace was a small classroom adapted for their use, perfect for holding etings now.

He strode to the blackboard, grabbed a piece of chalk and began writing and illustrating; his speech was fast, both explaining to the students and organizing his own thoughts:

“The principle of [Group Hysteria] is simple! Vague information, imnse pressure, and lack of control lead to intense anxiety. At this mont, a ‘culturally resonant’ explanation — for instance, ‘Dragon King Punishnt’ — erges.”

“An individual first shows symptoms, others socially get infected, unconsciously mimic and amplify, forming a collective somatic manifestation…”

The more Professor Ji spoke, the more he felt he grasped the core of the issue.

“Traditional intervention overly emphasizes individual psychotherapy, which is very inefficient! We need to seize the core — cut off the infection chain, break the irrational beliefs!”

“Although Old Sun and Old Wu haven’t achieved anything, at least they ruled out a wrong answer for us, showing us the inefficiency of communicating with affected residents…”

“While they want to get Bai Qinghua and the others to speed up efficiency… we’ll go even further, directly skipping the relational frawork!”

The students looked at each other in bewildernt.

A glimr of light flashed in Professor Ji’s eyes: “We must use more systematic and assertive ‘scientific dissemination’ and ‘cognitive blitz’ to directly challenge their faith system in the ‘Dragon King’! As long as we prove the ‘Dragon King’ doesn’t exist, prove their feelings are false, the symptoms will naturally disappear!”

“We will organize concentrated scientific seminars, distribute the most easily understandable scientific materials, and conduct one-on-one firm cognitive corrections! Every villager must understand that they are being deceived by their minds!”

With his hair no longer gelled, Teacher Jiao opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to say sothing, but seeing Professor Ji’s indisputable expression, he finally swallowed his words and rely replied: “Okay, teacher, I will start preparing materials and the venue…”

With the ntor’s directive, the senior disciple imdiately arranged for the other apprentices to implent it.

But after all the students left, Teacher Jiao couldn’t hold back: “…Teacher.”

Professor Ji, who was writing and drawing, paused: “What is it?”

Taking a deep breath, Teacher Jiao said: “Teacher, your intervention thod just now… isn’t it a bit too radical? I heard this morning that Teacher Wu’s side almost got assaulted…”

However, Professor Ji’s reaction was completely different from what Teacher Jiao had expected.

Professor Ji suddenly laughed: “It’s precisely because Old Wu encountered trouble that I arranged it this way.”
