Now reading: Chapter 763 - 652: Nan Zhubin: Don’t Bite the Hand That Feed from Who would study psychology unless they had some issues?!, a Urban novel by Panda's Big Log Cabin.

An hour later, the settlent had completely cald down. The mixed fragrances of mint and hot water replaced the tense atmosphere from a few hours ago.

Rescue workers orderly organized supplies, with the blue waterproof fabric gently fluttering in the wind.

The second-hand student clutched his phone in his palm, having sent out many more texts.

Professor Ji still hadn’t responded.

anwhile, while the second-hand student was worrying about this, other mbers of the psychological expert team and the two commanders had already started the next phase of work.

The rest area for the settlent staff had been simply converted into a eting room.

"We need to clarify the underlying issues first, or else this stability won’t last long." Half-sleeved Commander, with his hands on his hips, set the tone for this eting, tugging at his frayed sleeve with rough fingers.

"Indeed, this chaos... seems to have settled." Commander Zhou nodded to Nan Zhubin first and then glanced through the window at the villagers still repeatedly washing their hands not far away.

Commander Zhou remarked, "But this ’Exorcism Soup’ and ’Protective Scale Ointnt’ are just makeshift solutions. We can’t keep going like this, right?"

"According to the teachers, the settlent is at risk because of the ’Dragon King’. So, should we take advantage of this positive montum to gather so elderly villagers to explain that believing in the Dragon King is superstitious and completely dispel this notion?"

By now, everyone in the camp managent, including Half-sleeved Commander, had accepted the fact that there’s a "risk in the settlent that could explode at any ti" rather than the "psychologists exacerbating the problem and increasing the risk".

However, the two prior disturbances still left them deeply uneasy. Field personnel already face nurous dangers outside. The camp, being the rear base, is theoretically supposed to ensure that the rescued disaster victims are not further hard and can be properly settled afterward.

Yet now, they not only have the risk of self-harm but also the potential to harm camp staff—facing natural disasters ahead and human calamities behind, who could bear it?

At this mont, Professor Sun, Wang, and Li had thoughts on the issue. However, they tacitly remained silent, instead looking at Bai Qinghua.

Bai Qinghua looked at Weng Pinting.

Weng Pinting smiled, "Zhuren, what are you thinking about?"

Nan Zhubin was sitting in the least noticed corner of the eting room, but everyone’s gaze naturally focused on him, as if that was the center.

"Ah." Nan Zhubin’s slightly unfocused pupils refocused, "I was thinking about interventions for moderate and severe infections to completely resolve the issue of [Group Hysteria]..."

"Did you catch Liu and Zhou Commander’s question just now?" Weng Pinting asked.

Nan Zhubin blinked.

Due to this mont of absent-mindedness, the eting room filled with kind laughter, and Commander Zhou took extra care to repeat his question, then looked expectantly along with Half-sleeved Commander.

"Zhuren, what do you think?" Weng Pinting asked again.

"I don’t think it’s necessary," Nan Zhubin began with a negation.

Half-sleeved Commander raised an eyebrow but, along with Commander Zhou, continued to listen patiently.

Nan Zhubin’s gaze defocused for two seconds, organizing his thoughts, then exhaled and looked around, "Hmm... from the expressions of the professors, everyone seems to agree with Commander Zhou’s point."

Professors Wang, Li, and Sun blinked in surprise - could he tell that?

Ignoring them, Nan Zhubin continued, "But everyone, our core intervention goal right now isn’t to dissolve the villagers’ cultural belief in the Dragon King—it’s to clear the damage caused by [Group Hysteria] so the villagers can return to normal life."

"Although currently this [Group Hysteria] indeed manifests in the form of ’Dragon King belief’, ’Dragon King belief’ and [Group Hysteria] are not equivalent."

"In other words—even if we were to dispel this belief, it wouldn’t eliminate the latent threat of [Group Hysteria]."

Hearing Nan Zhubin’s words, both Commander Zhou and Half-sleeved Commander blinked in surprise—are these two things really different?

Professors Wang, Li, and Sun also blinked, then suddenly understood, showing a look of lingering fear.

"It’s okay, in the process of psychological consultation or intervention, it’s common to misunderstand the root issue," Nan Zhubin reassured the two commanders.

Weng Pinting looked towards the three professors, her lips curving upward before she forced them down.

Nan Zhubin paused for a breath to organize his words.

"What Commander Zhou worried about—the ’belief issue’—is actually the core boundary we first need to clarify. This [Group Hysteria] and the villagers’ belief in the ’Dragon King’ are entirely separate matters."

"This [Group Hysteria] was a post-disaster stress-induced psychological disorder, manifesting as collective physical discomfort, cognitive bias, and behavioral disorder; whereas the ’Dragon King’ belief is a cultural symbol inherited by the locals, their spiritual anchor, falling under cultural identity."

Nan Zhubin said, "According to the plan our research group has organized, it leans more towards the ’belief protection principle’ of cultural psychology—a post-disaster individual’s psychological resilience largely relies on a familiar cultural frawork. In other words, if we forcibly dispel belief in the Dragon King, it would be like removing the villagers’ spiritual support."

Seeing the changing expressions of Commander Zhou and Half-sleeved Commander, Nan Zhubin continued, "This wouldn’t only make villagers resist all interventions but could also generate new stress disorders—for this situation, we’ve checked similar cases dostically, and there are lessons to be learned."
