Capítulo 801: Chapter 672: I Don’t Lack Anything Now

Nan Zhubin let out a sigh of relief.

The familiar feeling just now was indeed the completion of the [Case File].

It was Li Lingling.

Unlike in the consulting room, where expression managent was necessary, the current Nan Zhubin could freely let the corners of his mouth lift.

“Ahem.”

Nan Zhubin quickly patted his face, with a grin he couldn’t suppress, and started to get down to business.

His gaze turned to the two lines of prompts on the computer screen in front of him.

[You have a [Psychological Ability Training] to claim.]

[You have a [Psychological Skill Deepening] to claim.]

The forr was a reward for completing the [Monthly Goal]. Although Nan Zhubin had only been back at the company for two days, he had certainly taken on quite a few burdens, unknowingly racking up ten hours.

The latter went without saying—it was the recent achievent.

“Then, as usual, let’s see what this month’s gain is—”

Thinking this, the [Psychological Ability Training] option disappeared from Nan Zhubin’s sight.

[You have received [Psychological Ability Training]]

[Empathy 1]

Nan Zhubin blinked.

“Not bad,” the young consultant remarked.

[Empathy] is considered an essential skill for consultants.

But just like Nan Zhubin’s irresistible charm, the [Empathy] ability is also a double-edged sword for consulting.

Appropriate [Empathy] allows consultants and visitors to feel more connected and helps in building a consulting relationship; however, if [Empathy] goes too deep, it’s not beneficial for either consulting or the consultant themselves.

Excessive [Empathy] can easily lead to empathy exhaustion for the consultant, absorbing too much of the visitor’s negative emotions, which can accumulate to cause emotional depletion, physical and ntal fatigue, or even vicarious trauma for the consultant.

Excessive [Empathy] can also blur the boundaries between consultant and visitor, causing the consultant to fall into emotional symbiosis, losing professional neutrality and failing to objectively judge the essence of the visitor’s problem.

Moreover, excessive [Empathy] can weaken the effectiveness of consulting, causing the consultant to be swayed by the visitor’s emotions, making it hard to guide the visitor toward self-awareness and growth, and reinforcing the visitor’s dependency, making them lose the motivation to face issues directly.

At the sa ti, many consultants who violate consulting principles and over-invest in consulting to the detrint of themselves do so as a result of excessive [Empathy].

Although for Nan Zhubin, he can use [Emotion Rebalancing] to calm himself, preventing him from being swept into the vortex of emotions.

“But there’s no need. I’m not of the school that insists on deep [Empathy].”

Nan Zhubin shrugged.

It seems he doesn’t need to let Mo Kai schedule additional consultations this month; helping the company’s rookie consultants cover the slack is enough.

“Just as well, I can free up a lot of ti, might as well go around the research group more, or spend more ti reviewing for the retest…”

ntally planning the work for the coming month.

Nan Zhubin refocused his attention on today’s other achievent.

With a thought—

[You have claid [Psychological Skill Deepening]]

[Please choose your direction for deepening——]

[1. Upgrade a current skill.]

[Skills available for upgrade: [Micro-expression Analysis·Basic]]

[2. Learn a new skill.]

Nan Zhubin first reviewed the abilities he had acquired through [Psychological Skill Deepening].

[Micro-expression Analysis·Interdiate], [Emotion Re-adjustnt·Basic], [mory Palace·Interdiate], [Flow State·Basic], [Hypnosis Treatnt·Basic].

—Should he choose to upgrade a skill or acquire a new one?

—If upgrading a skill, which one to choose?

It seems to be a genuinely perplexing issue.

Fortunately, psychological consultation offers more than one structured thod to guide this kind of decision.

For Nan Zhubin himself, it’s easy to classify his choices into three broad categories.

First, pure blind box randomness. Used to satisfy curiosity and anticipation, it can also be used when facing current difficulties that can’t be solved with existing abilities.

This scenario is used for learning a new skill.

Second, taking a relatively unknown adventure, where the general direction is known, but the specific outco is unpredictable.

For example, using this to upgrade [Micro-expression Analysis·Interdiate], Nan Zhubin knows what ability he is upgrading but has no idea what effects will result.

Third, testing existing hypotheses, where the developntal direction and expected outco are already prepared and deciding whether to proceed depends solely on the desire to achieve the expected result.

Using the current choices available to Nan Zhubin as examples—

Nan Zhubin lightly tapped on [1. Upgrade a current skill].

[mory Palace·Interdiate]→[mory Palace·Advanced]

[mory Palace·Advanced: Store sensory information in its original form within this consulting room, accessible and processable while awake.]

“Just as expected, perfect!”

Nan Zhubin slapped the table and exhaled deeply.

[mory Palace·Basic] converted all received information into text for storage and could only be viewed in the Dream Consulting Room.

[mory Palace·Interdiate] built upon this, retaining all original sensory information, but still viewable only in the Dream Consulting Room.

This was quite inconvenient; if not for the [Emotion Rebalancing] debuff, which Nan Zhubin cleverly used as a sleep aid, extracting mory information was challenging each ti.

But now with [mory Palace·Advanced], it finally reached Nan Zhubin’s envisioned pinnacle for the [mory] function.

—Accurate extraction, and processing of information anyti, anywhere.

For once, Nan Zhubin didn’t linger long in the Dream Consulting Room.

His consciousness quickly rose, and Nan Zhubin opened his eyes, waking from the dream.

Sitting beside him, Mo Kai seed puzzled. Why did his senior wake up after such a short nap, did he have a nightmare?

Right afterward, Nan Zhubin sat up, closed his eyes, and delved into mory—

[Today, both the teacher and senior were busy, so I took a taxi myself, passing five red lights, the longest one lasting seventy-two seconds. The driver rolled down the window once in between, making my nose feel chilly…]

[Yesterday morning, six people drank coffee, three drank it plain, one had cookies, one had velvet cake, and one had spicy strips with it. The office slled strange, a mix of sweetness, bitterness, and saltiness…]

[The morning before yesterday, I had pork buns, salty and sweet flavor. But they were too salty, and the bun skin was thick, making the first bite tasteless and the second overwhelmingly flavorful, like an assault on the tongue. The soy milk was also very hot… In short, I didn’t like it; I won’t buy from this place again…]

The olfactory and gustatory mories made Nan Zhubin instinctively twitch his nose, and he felt his mouth moisten, with saliva beginning to form.

Useless mories, delete them.

In the next instant, Nan Zhubin’s nose and mouth returned to normal, rembering only his textual review of the pork buns and firmly deciding not to buy them again.

“Now I,” Nan Zhubin muttered to himself with a sigh, “lack nothing.”

Glancing at the study materials on the desk, Nan Zhubin waved them away.

Review? To hell with it!
