Chapter 114: Weapon Master!
As a veteran Player, keeping a constant eye on any Health Bar that might appear nearby was second nature.
The mont Angus launched his attack, Viktor had already caught sight of the Health Bar that flashed into view in that instant.
So.
No matter who the opponent was.
Hit first, ask questions later.
Viktor reflexively swung the Round Shield up in front of him, neatly deflecting Angus's strike with a perfect Parry.
Years of relentless training under grueling conditions had forged Angus's body and will into sothing close to iron.
As a Knight, close-quarters combat naturally had to reach the highest level—reading and responding to techniques had to beco absolute instinct.
So when Viktor's perfect Parry sent his blade flying wide, he quickly readjusted his stance and stepped back a few paces.
The Stagger lasted less than 1 second.
In Angus's hand was a silver Longsword engraved with beast motifs, and his presence surged to engulf everything around Viktor.
He fixed Viktor with a cold stare. His fra, which was not particularly muscular, nonetheless radiated at all tis a powerful, feral aura—like a cold-blooded wolf.
"Impressive reaction speed."
"Even if you had trained from childhood, you shouldn't possess close-combat techniques of this level."
"Rember—you are a Mage."
Viktor smiled faintly.
"Is that so?"
The mont those words fell, the air within the room grew sharply unstable. Several bright beams of light began to coil around Viktor's body, flowing freely like fish in water.
Formations began to take shape all around Viktor in every direction, and his abilities in every area surged upward in an instant.
Beneath his coat, a faint current of Magic Power flowed through Viktor's flesh and blood, threading its way along his ridians.
Attack, defense, agility...
In monts, all manner of Buffs wrapped themselves around Viktor.
The Buff bar beneath his Health Bar filled to the brim in an instant.
The mont the magic dimd, Viktor shot forward like an arrow, crossing the distance to Angus in a flash.
From beneath his coat, several thick azure-green vines extended rapidly, twisting and coiling around each other until they ford a strangely shaped wooden sword in Viktor's hand.
Yet oddly, the wooden sword seed to glint with a cold, razor-sharp edge.
Clang!
The mont Viktor swung the wooden sword, Angus raised his own blade on instinct to block.
Upon impact, a force so powerful that it set both of Angus's hands trembling shot up through his arms.
A flicker of astonishnt crossed his eyes.
Viktor held the wooden sword steady, locking with Angus in a deadlock.
His arm gripping the sword didn't budge a single inch, his tone brimming with confidence.
"Then let's,"
"have a go."
A faint blue luminescence sparked at his fingertip, and 1 or 2 Runes were suddenly carved into the Formation as if by an enormous invisible hand.
In an instant, a new surge of energy flashed across both of Viktor's arms.
【Strength Boost (Large)】
Angus suddenly felt an enormous pressure—his own hands gripping the Longsword actually began to tremble under the abruptly amplified force.
Because Viktor had ford a link with Weija, Viktor now commanded an inexhaustible supply of Magic Power.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of small Buff-type magic effects appeared behind him once more.
As though wrapped in a rainbow, Viktor's body erupted with a terrifying surge of power.
Bolstered by the deep, enduring physical foundation of the Core of Origin for Wood, Viktor had more than enough stamina to sustain an extended close-quarters battle.
What's wrong—never seen a Mage who fights up close?
Then today would be the day.
His first strike failing to land, Viktor pulled back, leaping several ters in retreat, his speed already fast enough to slice the surrounding air as he moved.
His back foot pressed lightly against the ground, and his figure flickered, weaving ceaselessly through the enormous room, afterimages blooming in all directions.
Angus was not unnerved by the formidable Buff magic surrounding Viktor—if anything, his own montum surged even fiercer in response.
Among the swirling cascade of illusory figures, he swiftly locked onto Viktor's presence.
Behind him!
Angus instantly swung his Longsword around, pouring enormous force into a single sweeping blow aid at the space directly behind him.
Boom!
The 2 weapons collided again, and the thunderous shockwave sent the cup on the table and the wardrobe mirror nearby shattering to pieces.
In the wake of the shockwave ca a delayed gust of force, scattering every piece of furniture in the vicinity and sending the wreckage flying.
Angus remained unhurried, Longsword held in one hand.
The next instant, his large hand reached behind him.
"I admit—you have earned my recognition."
"But don't forget who I am."
Before the words had even finished, a Knight's lance tore free from a crack in the space behind him.
Angus heaved his arm with full force, knocking Viktor's sword aside.
His other arm gripped the massive lance and drove it straight toward Viktor's chest.
But almost simultaneously—
Clang!
Green luminescence erupted and gushed through the entire room, coiling entirely around Viktor.
Vine after vine appeared from nowhere, rapidly twisting and wrapping around one of Viktor's arms, forming a wooden lance.
In an instant, the 2 lances collided with each other, and a surge of intense energy instantly swallowed everything in the vicinity.
The 2 figures darted and weaved through the space, their dark afterimages colliding again and again, consuming everything in their path.
In the void, Angus continuously drew weapon after weapon—a battle axe materialized in an instant, hurtling down toward Viktor with full force.
In the split second before it made contact, Viktor tilted his body slightly, using the recoil of the clashing swords to carry himself around to Angus's back, slipping free of the killing blow.
Angus imdiately sensed the shift, and a flail was ripped from before him, swung hard toward Viktor's legs.
The flail was savage and unrestrained, driving straight at Viktor's shins.
One of Viktor's arms was instantly coated in vines that lengthened into a long chain, lashing out and striking the flail at an angle to deflect it.
The vine chain continued its forward arc, sweeping directly toward Angus.
Angus decisively stepped back, leaning his body low, ducking beneath the chain's air-splitting montum.
The chain shifted in an instant, its tip reshaping into a sharp arrowhead that sliced across Angus's cheek.
Angus furrowed his brow as a vivid red gash slowly appeared on his face.
The 2 continued to fight in an intense deadlock, sparks flashing through the air without cease, bursting into sudden brilliance.
Viktor drew himself back from the depths of battle, eyes fixing tightly on the formidable opponent before him.
Indeed—Angus was the strongest foe he had ever faced in the realm of close combat.
Every single move was aid at killing, and had Viktor lost his focus for even a mont, he would likely have been reduced to a broken corpse by now.
But...
He knew Angus's fighting style far too well.
Weapon Master, Angus.
He embodied the pinnacle of Knight craftsmanship—which ant Angus would never use the sa weapon twice in consecutive attacks.
He had taken the Knight's philosophy of mastery over all weapons and carried it to its absolute extre.
This was precisely why the Knight was a class that could equip any weapon with the sole exception of a staff.
"But unfortunately."
Viktor moved through the battle with complete ease.
His expression remained composed, brimming with confidence as ever.
"I'm no slouch myself."
【Item: Omniform】
【Skill: Thousand Guises—Draws on the user's Magic Power input and ntal control to transform into different implents.】
【Skill: Magic Edge—When striking an enemy, can apply corresponding elental damage.】
Simply by channeling powerful Wood-attribute Magic Power into his arm and picturing the shape of a Longsword in his mind, a wooden Longsword would materialize in the user's hand.
Naturally, if Fire-attribute Magic Power were channeled instead, a fla-attribute blade would appear.
This item was the reward drop obtained after slaying Druga.
Unlike the World-tier Item, Omniform was not a single-use consumable.
It could be used freely, as many tis as desired.
The next instant, the 2 combatants broke apart to a great distance, countless weapons spinning through the air between them, striking each other in a relentless exchange—neither side showing the slightest opening.
The problem, however, was that Viktor was a Mage.
Angus understood this acutely, which made him all the more wary of Viktor.
That was why he had been pressing Viktor with unrelenting weapon strikes all along—his aim was to prevent Viktor from having the ti needed to prepare his more powerful spells.
As long as Viktor had no ti to chant, Angus would hold the upper hand forever.
What Angus had not anticipated, however, was that Viktor had never intended to chant a single spell.
Confident as ever, Viktor held only a single thought in his mind.
"In the domain you excel in most—I will beat you."
He had the ability to do so.
Several red Runes blazed to life across the back of his coat in an instant; the wooden sword in his hand ignited in a flash, transforming into a massive blade of roaring fla.
The heat swept through everything nearby in monts, scorching temperatures flooding the entire room.
The fla blade swung down hard toward Angus, a devastating wave of heat washing over him in an instant.
Angus instinctively raised his Longsword to block—but the fla blade passed clean through his weapon like a phantom.
He had no ti to respond. The blade struck his chest with full force.
No blood was drawn—but the flesh it touched scorched and blackened in an instant.
Angus showed no sign of pain, stepping back several paces to regroup.
Viktor remained where he stood, making no move to press the advantage.
The fla Longsword seed to lose its fuel, fading gradually into the air like ash.
Viktor watched Angus. Angus watched him in return.
In the hall, wind and snow surged in to fill the void, white fragnts spinning endlessly through the space.
As the heat dissipated, the swirling snowflakes blotted out everything around them completely.
Angus reached a hand behind him—several rifts split open in an instant, and a Knight's full armor burst free from the void, snapping into place across every part of his body.
In an instant, a coat of steel armor encased him entirely.
The rifts in the air opened again, dozens of different weapons floating free and hanging in the air above.
Angus extended one hand and closed it around a massive lance.
The other weapons did not dissipate—instead, they orbited around Angus like satellites.
He gave the ground a single firm stamp, and in that instant, the surroundings changed completely.
The enormous room vanished entirely, replaced by a boundless expanse of ice and snow.
In that mont, both figures seed to be standing upon an endless frozen plain.
Viktor stood in the snow, feeling the bone-cutting cold crash over him from every direction.
This was the Domain of a 4th-Tier Grand Knight.
【Snow Mastiff Knight】
This place—was the ability Domain of this formidable Knight.
From beneath the silver-white armor, 2 eyes glowing red peered out. Killing intent and cold ruthlessness wrapped around Viktor like a vice.
"My nephew."
"From here on out—we get to see so real skill."
Viktor raised one hand. Wooden vines coiled up from the sleeve of his coat, and from them, the most fitting weapon took shape—a wooden sword.
He looked at Angus with calm indifference, his coat whipping and howling as the blizzard raged around him.
"Of course."
"You won't win."
