Chapter 80: Let Touch You, Will You?
Scorching lava slowly churned and surged from the gorge floor below, and the dragon's colossal head lood all the more terrifying against the backdrop of black clouds.
Yet Viktor's overwhelming presence had already taken the shape of a Calamity beast—surpassing even that.
Along both walls of the gorge, blazing flas rose in surging columns, engulfing the lightning within their coils.
Pillar after pillar of erupting fla clashed against bolt after bolt of thunder, neither yielding to the other.
【Fire Calamity—Scorched Earth】
Cocotte stood frozen, staring at the unnatural phenona all around her:
As a Natural Elf, Cocotte understood Calamities far better than most.
Strictly speaking, they were not Magical Creatures.
As the incarnate convergence of the world's natural elents, through eons of gradual transformation, they had slowly developed their own consciousness.
Wind, Lightning, Earth, Water—each had its corresponding incarnation.
And only a Calamity possessed the ability to alter the natural environnt itself.
Cocotte stood there completely dumbstruck.
Why? Why could Viktor wield a power that resembled a Calamity's?
Surely he wasn't the illegitimate child of a Calamity.
Natural Elves revered nature—held it in awe and worship.
Because a Natural Elf's Magic Power required the natural environnt to be released.
And a power like a Calamity's—one capable of influencing nature itself—was, in a certain sense, the very parent of a Natural Elf's magic.
Cocotte suddenly rolled her eyes, turning sothing over in her mind.
She hadn't said anything to offend Viktor just now……had she?
She really should watch her attitude going forward.
Cocotte pressed her fingers together, visibly nervous.
Then she caught sight of Auréliane watching the battle from not far away.
Cocotte nudged her cloud with a kick and drifted over toward Auréliane.
As she floated up beside her, all traces of drowsiness were gone. She struck up conversation with the Princess in an awkward, sidling tone.
"Hey, can I ask—this teacher of yours……who exactly is he?"
Auréliane glanced at her sideways and said nothing, instead putting a few more steps of distance between them.
Seeing Viktor's little student giving her such a cold shoulder, Cocotte suddenly found she couldn't even enjoy her naps anymore.
She'd nearly forgotten—the poor girl couldn't speak right now.
Left with no alternative, she turned her attention back to the battle unfolding before her—a spectacle that could only be described as epic.
Every Mage in Endymion knew exactly what the Storm Dragon King was.
It had slumbered for ages in the abyss deep within the Storm Grounds—the most formidable existence in the entire gorge.
Even an average 4th-Tier Mage would not dare engage it lightly. Fighting it offered no guarantee of victory.
Not every Mage could alter their surroundings the way Viktor had; without that ability, the Storm Grounds' natural advantage would make the danger 3 tis greater still.
In fact, it was because of the Storm Dragon King's presence that the Storm Grounds had ford here to begin with.
On top of that, the violently turbulent Magic Power flowing through the Magic Power Gorge would impose even further restrictions on any Mage who ventured inside.
The Storm Dragon King's sudden appearance was sothing Cocotte hadn't anticipated either.
Conflicts between the Storm Dragon King and Mages were not sothing that ordinarily occurred.
Mages needed only to pass through the Magic Power Gorge. The Magical Creatures inside fell outside the Storm Dragon King's domain—it did nothing more than slumber here, as a manifestation of imnse Magic Power, without any surplus consciousness.
Without soone actively provoking it, it would never initiate an attack.
Viktor's arrival, and that savage Calamity aura radiating from him, had made the Storm Dragon King sense the approach of a powerful adversary.
The environnt and terrain had been altered—the Storm Dragon King deed Viktor an invader upon its territory.
But before Viktor, who had taken on the form of a human Calamity, the Storm Dragon King was nothing more than an oversized worm.
Cocotte shook her head. A Calamity could even rewrite turbulent atmospheric conditions entirely—the Dragon King was in for a rough ti this round.
The Dragon King felt the scalding lava land upon its great claws. With a thunderous roar, it charged straight at Viktor.
Those massive claws, wreathed in ten thousand bolts of lightning, ca crashing toward Viktor with a force that split the clouds and blotted out the sky.
At blinding speed, the claws had already closed in on Viktor within re seconds.
"Bad—too fast!"
Cocotte saw that Viktor was already squarely in danger's path, but there was no ti left to warn him now.
The Storm Dragon King's speed had far exceeded her expectations.
Yet to Viktor's eyes, the movent of those enormous claws was impossibly slow.
The ten thousand lightning bolts coiling around the dragon's claws—every tremor and vibration of each bolt—he could observe with perfect clarity.
Both hands still in his pockets, in those few seconds, it was as though the world had been slowed down several hundred tis over.
At last—1 second later.
The massive claw descending toward Viktor's head dropped by 1 centiter.
Sensing the danger bearing down on him, the iron cards on Viktor's body erupted outward in a violent burst.
Cocotte and Auréliane stood side by side, staring up at the sky above as though facing so great calamity of their own.
Neither of them even registered the cold glint that had already reached the enormous dragon's claws.
In an instant, the Throwing Cards split into a hundred blades that slashed across the Storm Dragon King's limbs, driving deep and hard into each of its joints.
Severing its magical limbs entirely.
The Storm Dragon King, being a construct of Magic Power, possessed no physical body to speak of.
That form was nothing more than a product conjured from the convergence of Magic Power.
Those hundred cards erupted in a blaze of brilliant light—red and green blazing against each other.
Flas burning against the sky ca coiling ferociously around the Storm Dragon King's body. Great vines began binding the Dragon King's movents in tightening coils, their dense branches and green leaves growing all the more scorching under the fire's influence.
The hundred Throwing Cards continued to slash through the Dragon King without pause—a pure and utterly ruthless Magic Power at Grinder.
The imnse Magic Power construct had barely any chance to mount further resistance before the Storm Dragon King's form began shrinking, growing smaller and smaller, until it vanished entirely from sight.
Auréliane's eyes went wide, her gaze filled with nothing but awe.
Her teacher—was incredible!
So powerful that even the Dragon King whose presence had blotted out the heavens was no match for Viktor.
As for Cocotte—
She nearly dropped to her knees.
Those eyes rimd with their faint but telling dark circles stared at Viktor in utter disbelief.
But the Storm Dragon King was not yet dead.
"It's not over. Inside the Magic Power Gorge, the Dragon King's body will reconstitute itself very quickly."
The words had barely left his mouth when the black clouds above erupted again with lightning and thunder. The lightning, conjured from Magic Power, began gathering steadily in the air—ridians, bones, and flesh reassembling themselves at high speed, reconstructing the Storm Dragon King's body.
The next second, the Dragon King reappeared, wreathed in coiling lightning, its presence even more imposing than before.
In Viktor's eyes, the Storm Dragon King's Health Bar and Level gradually ca into view.
LV40
Viktor knew perfectly well—the Storm Dragon King was not especially powerful in terms of raw strength. What made it unique was its ability to resurrect indefinitely, drawing on inexhaustible Magic Power.
When Cocotte had said the Storm Dragon King could not be killed, it was because no Mage in Endymion had ever witnessed it being slain.
But Viktor knew it clearly—the Storm Dragon King could be destroyed.
When he had been a player, every ti he passed through the Magic Power Gorge he had killed the Storm Dragon King many tis over.
In Viktor's eyes, this thing was nothing more than a giant walking Experience bonus.
The Storm Dragon King's resurrection timing, its behavioral patterns—
He had them all morized cold.
"Then all I need to do is kill you until you can't use Magic Power to revive anymore."
As the hundred iron cards returned to circle Viktor once more, hundreds of Magic Formations erupted into existence behind him all at once.
Those Magic Formations, smooth as the surface of a lake, began to tremble. The Runes and patterns on them were already too nurous to count—and then a boundless torrent of fire magic ca pouring out in a devastating cascade.
Within the environnt Viktor had created, Cocotte could see clearly that everything Viktor was using was 2nd-Tier Magic.
Yet its destructive power had reached the level of 3rd-Tier Magic.
"Is this……the Fire Calamity?"
The fire magic looked as though it would swallow the entire gorge whole the very next second.
Seeing this, Cocotte hurriedly pulled Auréliane into the cloud with her, shielding her from the terrifying magical shockwave.
A blinding white light of searing heat spread across every surface. Staggering flas lit up the entirety of the Rhea Gorge.
Perhaps even the Rhea Gorge itself had never imagined it would one day bear witness to such a mont.
The heat softened the rock, igniting it from thin air.
The Storm Dragon King had only just finished rebuilding its body when it was once again bombarded into helplessness.
In the blink of an eye, its form shattered once more.
"This……how much ti has even passed!?"
Cocotte stood frozen.
Was the Storm Dragon King really this weak? It felt like it could barely fight back at all.
The next second, the storm reconstituted again—but Viktor had long since made his preparations. Before the Storm Dragon King's body had even fully reford, the Throwing Cards whipped across and shattered its fra once more.
A 3rd ti. A 4th ti……
Each resurrection ca slower than the last. The surrounding gorge had been battered by Viktor's onslaught until it was crumbling and broken, teetering on the edge of collapse.
The gorge floor below gradually fell into dead silence. The powerful gales had already dissipated; only waves of scorching heat remained, shuddering through the air.
Cocotte watched it all, taking in Viktor's matchless destructive power.
No wonder Viktor had had the nerve to provoke the Storm Dragon King. For all the ti this fight had lasted, she hadn't even seen the Storm Dragon King use a single skill.
A one-sided—total domination.
Under Viktor's suffocating onslaught, the Dragon King was cut to pieces the instant it revived each ti.
Magic Power converging. Resurrection. Shattered once more.
Over and over—1 hour, 2 hours……and the result never changed.
The gorge had been battered into scattered fragnts of stone, reduced to crumbling ruin. Countless iron-bladed Throwing Cards spiraled around the Dragon King's half-reford body, cutting through it again.
At last, a bolt of lightning flashed once—sharp and violent, like sothing bursting open, like sothing breaking apart.
The dust gradually settled. The Storm Dragon King did not rise again.
"It's……it's dead?"
The Storm Dragon King was dead?
She had never witnessed a battle this clean and effortless in her life.
Viktor had calculated everything—even where the Storm Dragon King would revive, exactly how much punishnt it could absorb. All of it, accounted for precisely.
Not one blow more, not one blow less. Just right, every single ti, ending it in 1 hit.
She peeked out cautiously from the edge of the cloud, and imdiately felt the scorching heat of the surroundings—a temperature no ordinary person could endure.
"This temperature……it's terrifying."
Fire magic like this was absolutely beyond the reach of any normal Mage.
Cocotte was convinced that Viktor must have struck so kind of deal with the Fire Calamity.
She was half right—because this savage fire magic was sothing Viktor had forcibly stripped from Gulton.
The Fire Calamity had already been sealed by Viktor once before.
The savage thunder that had now quieted gradually converged, forming a lightning core that pulsed with brilliant white radiance.
Viktor reached out a hand, and the core drifted into his palm as though it recognized its new owner.
【Storm Dragon King's Gene】
【Description: A mysterious gene containing the power of an ancient great dragon. Perhaps it can be fused with an ancient dragon.】
He looked at the core in his hand and felt thoroughly satisfied.
The lava-streaked Coat returned to calm as well. The red patterns slowly faded back into hiding, and the great beast's eyes upon the Coat concealed themselves once more.
Cocotte leaned in with undisguised curiosity, drawing very close, and asked in a probing tone:
"Are you connected to a Calamity in so way?"
Viktor turned to look at her with an indifferent glance.
"I've killed a Calamity before. Do you believe ?"
