Chapter 88: Nearly Killed by Whatever That Was—Good Thing I Had the Edge

As the first wave of black vines gave rise to 3 Magical Creatures, before long, beneath the lava, more small black flower buds began to bloom.

A thick barrier of vines separated the lava from the Magical Creatures. Those Magical Creatures—transford into iron balls—continued launching relentless attacks at Viktor.

While they were unable to deal any effective damage to Viktor, they posed no small disruption to his sustained output.

The breeding ground gradually spawned tiny Magical Creatures that flew through the air.

They resembled bats, but where a bat would have sharp fangs atop its skull, these had long, straw-like mouthparts instead.

Black liquid was continuously squeezed out by the expanding and contracting pressure of their abdons, pooling within their heads.

When they could bear it no longer, they would fire that black liquid in a sudden, high-speed jet aid directly at Viktor.

At first, those scattered droplets of black liquid couldn't even graze Viktor. But as ti went on, more and more bat-like creatures gathered around Druga. Each burst of black liquid began to resemble a torrential rain of arrows blotting out the sky.

At last, one dense volley managed to clip Viktor once.

The Lava armor Coat on his body let out a sizzle, and wisps of white smoke curled up from it.

"What terrifying corrosive power!"

Cocotte, hiding behind the floating rock, watched the scene unfold and felt as though her heart had been seized in a fist—gripped with sudden worry.

Even if Viktor could free a hand amid the unceasing creature collisions, how was he supposed to evade that sky-blotting black rain of arrows?

Viktor was thinking about exactly this.

True, the Magic Shield generated by the Mage's Robe could block the corrosive acid.

But even the strongest shield could never absorb every single hit.

Constrained as he was, Viktor could only keep weaving and dodging—deflecting the incoming Spinning Wheel creatures on one side while evading the black liquid on the other.

He could only spare a single thin strand of magic to keep those flying creatures in check.

If he let up on his firepower and gave Druga any opening, it would simply begin regenerating again.

All the progress Viktor had made so far would be wasted.

Diverting 1 spell to handle the bat creatures ant that chipping away at Druga's HP had slowed considerably—to the point where it was almost at a standstill against Druga's regeneration ability.

In Viktor's eyes, Druga's HP was neither rising nor falling.

What lay before him was still a brutal, grinding battle.

In the ga, dealing with a powerful Boss like this required a coordinated group—frontline warriors absorbing the Spinning Wheel creatures and the corrosive attacks, while Mages in the rear seized the gaps to restore the warriors' HP and pour damage into the Boss.

Although only Mages could enter Endymion initially, as the Storyline progressed—after Druga occupied Endymion—all classes could enter the City of Mages.

Through the Mages' Teleportation Formation, they could reach the 7-layer Dungeon of the labyrinth.

But right now it was only Viktor. Though there were 2 other Mages beside him, those 2 were of absolutely no help to him.

After all, they had never laid eyes on Druga before—charging in recklessly would only drag him down.

He ran through 2 ways to resolve the current situation in his mind:

Option 1 was to swiftly eliminate the smaller Magical Creatures. That would certainly reduce a great deal of needless harassnt. By striking Druga's weak points with full force while it hadn't yet managed to summon the next wave of small creatures—however, this approach would only stretch the battle out even longer.

The Calamity of Wood was by nature skilled at dragging out the fight to wear down Players' ntal stamina. Taking that route would an falling straight into its trap.

Option 2, however, was sothing only a portion of high-end Players could pull off.

Ignore the harassnt attacks from the small Magical Creatures entirely and focus solely on attacking Druga.

Due to Druga's summon chanic—if the first wave of fodder wasn't cleared, or not cleared below a certain threshold—Druga simply wouldn't summon another wave of small Magical Creatures.

As luck would have it, Viktor was exactly that kind of high-end Player.

His mind made a swift pivot, and he abandoned defense.

Using high-intensity magic bombardnt to suppress the number of creatures down to 2, he imdiately began moving his body at high speed across the space to evade the remaining creatures' attacks.

In the end, only 2 bat-like creatures remained, hovering in the air—sparse and pitiable, yet stubbornly continuing their assault on Viktor.

But the re 2 left behind seed to have been shot through with a stimulant. The rate at which they sprayed the black liquid was visibly several tis faster than before.

An increased attack speed alone was still not enough to blanket the entire space.

Viktor's body kept flickering through the air—like a dancer moving with elegant precision through a black downpour, stepping nimbly between the falling drops to evade every attack.

And his hands never stopped for a mont, pouring devastating, world-scorching spells toward Druga in an unbroken torrent.

Before long, under Viktor's final concentrated assault, Druga's no-longer-recovering HP dropped considerably—a vast expanse of white had been carved out of that seemingly endless Health Bar.

Now, Viktor only had to deal with the last 30%.

The Crow on his shoulder suddenly spoke up, asking Viktor:

"This thing……is it going to pull off 1 last world-ending attack like Gulton did?"

"Yes."

"You're already prepared for it?"

"Yes."

Weija's held breath finally released. If Viktor said he was prepared, then there was nothing to worry about.

Druga had fallen into its final weakened state. The green fluorescent glow on its body flickered on and off—as though it had grown thoroughly exhausted. 1 of its massive legs actually dropped down onto the lava, kneeling.

The white in its compound eyes gradually converged and consolidated. A surge of intense natural energy erupted from its body.

Every Calamity had 3 phases: the initial phase, the 2nd phase, and finally the weakened phase.

But the weakened phase was often the most treacherous point to slip up.

Because……

Druga's natural energy began pouring out in a single undivided torrent across the entire space. The sheer force of it alone was enough to set the Pocket Dinsion shuddering.

All of Endymion rocked as though in the grip of an earthquake, swaying wildly.

Heim was thrown off. He had no idea what was happening.

Endymion was a Sky City—how could it be having an earthquake!?

"Heim Horn, Cocotte."

As though reminding the 2 of sothing, Viktor said their nas once and said nothing more.

But the 2 of them reacted instantly, throwing every last Magic Potion Viktor had given them down their throats all at once.

Feeling the surge of enormous Magic Power flooding through their bodies, both felt as though they might burst—racked with pain they could barely endure.

Paying no mind to their own pain, they channeled every last drop of their Magic Power into reinforcing the enormous barrier.

The barrier seed to expand by an entire size in a single instant.

"Here it cos."

Neither of them had ever witnessed a Calamity before. So they had absolutely no idea just how terrifying a Calamity could truly be.

When a Calamity determined that it had encountered an enemy it could not overco—

It would expend every last drop of its own energy and unleash its final, ultimate technique.

【Myriad Phenona of Heaven and Earth】

As 6 lotus flowers blood from within Druga's 3 pairs of compound eyes, a horrifying fissure slowly tore open across the top of its enormous head.

That vast natural energy was instantly drawn back into its own body. Its entire form swelled like a hot air balloon, bloating outward—like a small asteroid floating in the void.

As though it had swallowed all the surrounding sound and scent into its belly, the entire void fell into an absolute, all-consuming silence.

Weija stood on Viktor's shoulder and could only see Viktor's lips appear to move—but heard nothing whatsoever.

The next second, an ocean of surging, overwhelming energy transford into 7 colossal serpents that ca howling toward Viktor—as though they ant to stuff all of Endymion into their maws!

Every space those colossal serpents passed through seed to be stripped of all vitality. The void alone was enough to make one feel that the surroundings had already fallen into a death foretold.

Looking at the sky-spanning colossal serpents twisting toward him, Viktor raised Ulruste into the air.

At the sa ti, a thin thread connected Viktor to both Cocotte and Heim.

"【O God of Fire lost in foolishness and bewildernt, forget the prayers of this mortal world, and bestow upon truth and courage—】"

"【When the blazing sun splits the heavens, let the primordial fla incinerate all illusion—!】"

As Viktor's strange and enigmatic incantation rang out, Cocotte and Heim standing behind him were both imdiately struck dumb.

What blasphemous kind of incantation was that!?

Such was the thought in their hearts—yet their hands only poured even more Magic Power into the barrier.

As Viktor's voice rang out in a sudden sharp cry, the world around them seed to freeze solid.

In his hand, a tiny fireball gradually condensed, then transford into a faint, delicate fla that flew off toward the space between those 7 colossal serpents, aid directly at Druga.

Ti began to flow again. The colossal serpents crashed wildly against the barrier. Under the enormous impact, countless hairline cracks appeared across its surface.

"Viktor! Hurry! It's……going to break!"

Cocotte squeezed her eyes shut and could only urge on Viktor—who stood there in a daze—her heart filled with a final, desperate despair.

Heim and she had simultaneously lost all their Magic Power. Perhaps because Viktor's magic demanded so much, the 2 of them in that mont felt as though they had been wrung completely dry.

The ocean of colossal serpents carrying death and silence would swallow Viktor whole in the next second.

And yet—for a reason no one could na—they suddenly stopped in the air.

"What a sha, Druga—in the end, it was still ,"

"Who had the edge."

Those 7 sky-spanning colossal serpents—starting from the heads closest to Viktor—were consud by red, their natural energy dispersing into the void. The 7 colossal serpents transford entirely into billowing demonic flas!

They shattered completely, reforming into a colossal dragon of raging fire that ca charging toward Druga once more—carrying with it both hope and crushing pressure!

The Calamity of Wood, now sunk in weakness, had no strength left to resist such powerful high-Tier magic.

In the instant that tiny fla made contact with its body, all the energy within it seed to completely sever its connection to nature.

Its chest inexplicably blazed with scorching heat. Druga stood frozen in place, able only to watch as the colossal fla dragon swallowed it whole.

【War Magic—Avatiste's Divine Arrow】

BOOM!

A beam of white light shot toward the heavens, piercing through all 7 layers of the sky, all the way to the firmant above.

***

Auréliane—already sprawled out on the floating slab of rock—lay there restlessly on her back, staring up at the sky.

She had been waiting for Viktor to return this whole ti.

The enchanting night sky full of stars was srizing—like a beautiful deity had scattered handfuls of crystals across an entire canvas.

The next second, a violent beam of white light tore through that wondrous starry sky.

Auréliane jolted upright, staring at the towering column of white light that seed to stretch up to the very cosmos itself, her eyes wide with astonishnt.

Stars sparkled in her eyes. She exclaid in excitent:

"Wow!"

"So beautiful!"
