Wielding the Thunders Across Two Worlds Chapter 231 - 230: A Spirit Monarch in the Green Water Pool?
"What a lovely place!" Taoist Shen Hao complinted.
By now, they had left Daping County, the southernmost part of Bai Shi Prefecture, and entered a branch of the Wuya Ridge. This area ford the upper reaches of the Chang River, and the renowned Green Water Pool lay within this valley.
"There are still so villages in these mountains." Taoist Qingyuan gazed toward the foot of a nearby mountain, where he could see a few wisps of cooking smoke rising.
Taoist Shen Hao nodded. "A definite improvent over White Bone Mountain."
They had just co from White Bone Mountain, where there wasn’t a soul to be seen for ten li in any direction. The atmosphere in the villages for dozens of li around had been suffocating, the very picture of gloom and despair.
But here, upon entering the spur of Wuya Ridge, the sky was high and clear, the trees were lush and green, and the mountains were abloom with countless flowers. The overall environnt was a world apart from White Bone Mountain.
The two walked a little further. After rounding a copse of trees, the village they had spotted earlier ca into view. Their attention was then drawn to the side of the path.
There, a young woman in a green dress stood beside the mountain path. Before her was a small table, upon which a scroll was unrolled. With a tranquil expression, she held back her sleeve with one hand and a brush with the other, engrossed in her painting.
Both Taoist Shen Hao and Taoist Qingyuan had excellent eyesight. They could tell at a glance that the young woman was painting the very scene before them: the distant green mountains, the stream below, the village beside it, and the curling wisps of smoke.
Behind the young woman stood a hulking, eight-foot-tall man dressed in practical, close-fitting attire. His gaze, as he watched her, was gentle.
The mont Taoist Shen Hao and Taoist Qingyuan spotted the pair, the large man’s gaze swept over them as well. He was initially unconcerned, but his expression shifted to one of vigilance in the blink of an eye.
HUM—
The Thunder Seed in their Seas of Consciousness vibrated gently, alerting the two old Daoists that the large man before them carried Evil Qi.
Taoist Qingyuan’s eyebrow twitched. He then frowned slightly, looking the large man up and down before his gaze shifted to the young woman, his eyes full of confusion.
"Senior Brother Shen Hao?" Taoist Qingyuan looked at Taoist Shen Hao.
Taoist Shen Hao shook his head and began walking toward the young woman in the green dress.
The young woman remained oblivious, but the large man stepped in front of her, blocking their path. His glare toward the two old Daoists was hostile. "Who are you?"
At the sound of the man’s voice, the young woman finally paused her brush. She looked up, saw the two old Daoists, and asked in confusion, "Uncle Mo?"
Mo Wei’s voice was grim. "Two unfamiliar old n. If they can appear here, they can’t be ordinary people."
Although Taoist Qingyuan had already returned his longsword to his Storage Gourd, his bearing was still extraordinary. Years of Martial Arts Training, combined with several centuries of Dao Practice since his transmigration, made his exceptional nature apparent at a single glance.
And that was to say nothing of Taoist Shen Hao. His long, white eyebrows drooped low, but his fra was tall and erect, his complexion ruddy and glowing, and his eyes were bright and full of spirit. A single glance was enough to identify him as a peerless master at the peak of his vitality.
"They’re just a pair of traveling Mages, Uncle Mo. No need to be concerned." The young woman waved her hand dismissively, gave the two a polite nod, and then lowered her head to continue her painting.
Taoist Shen Hao’s white eyebrow twitched. It was only then that he confird it: the young woman in the green dress was a Spirit Monarch.
"Are you people from Green Water Pool?" Taoist Qingyuan asked.
"Since you know this is Green Water Pool’s territory, you’d best not cause trouble," Mo Wei warned. "If you stir up trouble and get eaten by the demons in the pool, don’t bla for not warning you."
Taoist Qingyuan chuckled at his words. "And you won’t eat ?"
Mo Wei said flatly, "I don’t eat people."
Taoist Shen Hao’s tone was just as flat. "And you’re not one of the demons from the pool?"
"So what if I am?" Mo Wei’s eyes widened in a glare.
The Evil Qi on Mo Wei wasn’t strong—it was about on par with The Golden Dog of Bond Huang Yuan. Furthermore, he was accompanying a Spirit Monarch. This was why Taoist Qingyuan had been confused, and why Taoist Shen Hao was willing to engage him in conversation.
Taoist Shen Hao glanced at him, then turned his gaze back to the young woman. "Your painting is quite good. The composition is clever and the brushwork is delicate. However, the distant mountains lack a certain rounded softness, the sense of depth is a bit shallow, and there’s no movent within the stillness. It fails to capture the feeling of life."
The young woman looked up, a flicker of surprise in her eyes as she regarded Taoist Shen Hao.
She glanced from Taoist Shen Hao to the painting on her table, studying it for a mont. Then, she set down her brush, moved to Mo Wei’s side, and offered Taoist Shen Hao a polite, cupped-fist salute. "Mage, is there sothing you wish to ask?"
’Smart!’
Taoist Shen Hao stroked his beard and smiled. He asked again, "Are you from Green Water Pool?"
The young woman nodded. "We are."
Taoist Shen Hao glanced at the wary Mo Wei, then asked the young woman, "And what is your relationship to the Ningbi Flood Dragon of Green Water Pool?"
"Insolence!" Mo Wei snarled, preparing to attack.
But the young woman stopped him. "I am her younger sister. My na is Bi Yingying."
Taoist Qingyuan’s eyes widened. ’He’d assud she was the Ningbi Flood Dragon’s daughter! That would explain why she was a Spirit Monarch—she’d been so well-protected from a young age that she’d never had the chance to commit evil. He never would have guessed she was the sister.’
"Is your older brother also a Spirit Monarch?" Taoist Qingyuan couldn’t help but ask.
Bi Yingying looked at Taoist Qingyuan with curiosity. "She is my older sister. Her na is Bi Jingjing."
A wave of embarrassnt washed over Taoist Qingyuan.
Every leader of a major power he had t in this region was male, so he had subconsciously assud the Ningbi Flood Dragon would be male too. He had been mistaken.
Bi Yingying turned to Taoist Shen Hao. Her expression was placid, but her tone was firm. "You two have co to Green Water Pool looking for my sister, haven’t you?"
Taoist Shen Hao nodded. "Indeed."
But Bi Yingying shook her head. "My sister has a bad temper. She would likely be disrespectful to you both. If you have a ssage for her, you can give it to . I will relay it, and perhaps things will go more smoothly."
Taoist Shen Hao couldn’t help but smile. "Are you afraid your sister will kill us?"
The Ningbi Flood Dragon was powerful enough to face the White Bone God Monarch. With their current level of cultivation, Taoist Shen Hao and Taoist Qingyuan were indeed no match for Bi Jingjing.
"She rarely kills people," Bi Yingying sighed. "But she will not take a liking to you. eting her in person would do more harm than good."
"How so?" Taoist Qingyuan asked curiously.
Mo Wei snorted. "You dare co to our door without even bothering to learn my mistress’s preferences?"
Taoist Shen Hao smiled faintly. "That’s because we didn’t co here seeking help."
"If you’re not here for help, then what? Are you looking for trouble?" Mo Wei eyed them scornfully, his tone dripping with contempt.
Mo Wei’s words were thorny, but Taoist Qingyuan paid him no mind. "There are so matters we must discuss with her in person," he said.
"You people—"
Before Mo Wei could finish, his expression changed abruptly. He looked up to see several streaks of light flash across the sky, diving straight toward Green Water Pool, which lay deep in the mountains behind them.
"Second Miss, it looks like those people are headed for our—"
Mo Wei was only halfway through his sentence when he saw the streaks of light change direction. They now aid for his location and shot down with a "SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH."
The next mont, four figures dressed in robes similar to the two old Mages landed beside them.
"He’s cloaked in Evil Qi." Taoist Jing Feng’s gaze fell on Mo Wei, a flash of killing intent in his eyes. A grim, bone-chilling aura began to spread from him.
Mo Wei’s heart hamred in his chest. He shielded Bi Yingying. "Second Miss, go! I’ll—"
"Junior Brother Jing Feng, hold your hand," Taoist Shen Hao intervened. "His Evil Qi isn’t strong. We may have misjudged the situation at Green Water Pool."
Mo Wei swallowed hard, his expression complex as he looked at Taoist Shen Hao.
Bi Yingying’s eyes darted between them. "Are you here to deal with my sister?" she asked.
