’Among these Attributes, the Silver Lotus Wood’s Spiritual Energy value was the most outstanding. This should be its strength. Strengthening its advantage might bring even greater returns...’

Although he could only increase Spiritual Energy by 0.5 points, strengthening the other Attributes would likely be counterproductive.

Han Ning didn’t hesitate for long. He exchanged for 0.5 Spiritual Attribute Points, focused on the Spiritual Energy option, and silently commanded, ’Allocate.’

A blue halo flashed.

The Silver Lotus Wood before him suddenly began to radiate a faint, erald-green light.

Specks of glowing particles, carrying the fragrant scent of misty green grass, suddenly materialized from the air and converged upon it.

As the light flickered, the Silver Lotus Wood’s form began to change.

Its thistle-like trunk grew thicker and longer. From its center, two erald-green branches, resembling human arms, grew outwards. Over a dozen verdant leaves were attached to the ends of these branches.

Below the silver flower bud at its top, a ring of sharp thorns sprouted.

Its height also grew from the initial 20 centiters to just over 50 centiters.

"Its Level increased, and it even learned a new Soul Technique."

Han Ning stared at the panel, observing the Silver Lotus Wood’s changes.

[Silver Thorn I]: Fires a thorn with a Purification effect, dealing a certain amount of Wood Type Spiritual Energy explosive damage to enemies it hits.

Besides the Silver Lotus Wood’s Level increase, he also felt his own body seed to have grown stronger. He swung his arm, and the biceps that had lacked definition before he transmigrated now showed the faint outline of muscle.

INHALE... EXHALE...

His breathing beca deeper and more prolonged; the volu of air he inhaled and exhaled had increased significantly.

This ant his cardiopulmonary function had also improved considerably.

’A Contracted Soul Beast getting stronger can nourish the Beast Master in return...’

He rembered how, right after he transmigrated, his cold had mysteriously vanished after he ford the contract with the Silver Lotus Wood. This new developnt only strengthened his conviction.

Just as Han Ning was seriously analyzing the situation, a subtle emotional ripple inexplicably appeared in his mind.

"Bo~"

"What is this..." His expression shifted slightly. He looked at the Silver Lotus Wood gently swaying its leaves before him and tentatively asked, "Silver Lotus Wood, is that you?"

"Bo bo~" A faint emotional ripple reached him, and Han Ning sensed it was a happy one.

"The Silver Lotus Wood’s intelligence has increased." A pleased expression appeared on his face.

"Since you can communicate with now, let give you a proper na."

Han Ning thought for a few seconds, then reached out to touch the Silver Lotus Wood’s tender leaves and said with a smile,

"How about... I call you Yin Yi?"

"Yin Yi."

"Bo~" The Silver Lotus Wood’s leaves trembled gently, brushing back and forth across Han Ning’s palm. It seed very pleased with its new na.

Then, to Han Ning’s astonishnt, the soil beneath Yin Yi stirred. Grayish-white roots broke through the earth and, carrying Yin Yi’s upper body, it trembled as it clambered out of the flowerpot and stood on the smooth tile floor.

"Yin Yi, you can walk without soil? Try taking a few steps forward."

"Bo..."

Like an old woman in her eighties or nineties, Yin Yi trembled, taking a long while just to cover a ter of distance.

"Hm... so it can walk without soil, but it’s not very fast."

Han Ning understood. He said to Yin Yi, "Wait for a mont."

He then brought over three wooden chairs, placing them horizontally in a row—front, middle, and back—with the seats facing Yin Yi.

Then, he found two weight plates and placed them next to the wooden chairs.

He first pointed at the three aligned wooden chairs and said to Yin Yi, "Yin Yi, use [Silver Thorn] on the chairs!"

"Bo..."

Standing four ters away, Yin Yi received the command. A sliver of green light flashed from the thorns beneath its top flower.

"WHOOSH!"

An erald-green afterimage streaked across Han Ning’s retina, and a Flowing Light illuminated the dim room.

With three sharp CRACKS, all three wooden chairs exploded into pieces. Even the nearby wall was affected, showing a palm-sized, web-like crack.

"Such incredible power... That destructive force must be comparable to a firearm."

"Er, and it looked so effortless."

Thoroughly surprised, Han Ning pointed to the two weight plates standing vertically on the ground and said, "Yin Yi, that was amazing! Now, try and see if you can pierce these two plates."

Weight plates are generally made of solid cast concrete; their hardness was in no way comparable to the seat of a wooden chair.

"Bo~"

Another flash of green light.

A few more CRACKS.

The sharp Silver Thorn pierced completely through the two 1-centiter-thick weight plates that were stacked together. However, the floor and wall behind the plates were completely undamaged.

’Destructive enough to pierce two weight plates at once...’

"The power is impressive, much stronger than my Compound Bow. Looks like Yin Yi can go hunting with from now on."

Although this was at a distance of four ters, and the damage might weaken over several dozen ters, it was still definitely stronger than the Compound Bow.

Most importantly, Silver Thorn also had an explosive effect that could further destroy the internal organs of other Soul Beasts.

At that mont, the data in the Spiritual Energy section of the panel had changed to:

[

Body——(Distributable Points: 0)

Power: 0.31

Body: 0.19 (0.21)

Agility: 0.11

Spiritual Energy——(Distributable Points: 0)

Spiritual Energy: 0.8 (1)

]

’Both Physical Strength and Spiritual Energy were consud...’

Han Ning nodded to himself, feeling he had a preliminary grasp of Yin Yi’s abilities. He then called Yin Yi back to stay in its soil.

Suddenly, a KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK resounded from outside.

Soone was knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" Han Ning, who was cleaning the room, put down the broom and went to open the door.

Outside the door stood a young man with a neat, choppy haircut.

"Han Ning, Teacher Zhou told us to go downstairs for a eting. He said there’s sothing to discuss."

"Yeah, I got it. I’ll be right there."

Han Ning turned, placed Yin Yi in his backpack, and headed downstairs with the male student.

The entire School of Engineering—its teachers, students, and buildings—had transmigrated together, but they were missing the water and electricity humans depend on for survival.

The wasteland’s gloomy weather, which had persisted for seven straight days, rendered the collected solar panels useless.

Generators and diesel were precious resources, not to be used unless it was absolutely critical.

The ergency lights on both sides of the corridor had long since run out of power.

This plunged the entire dormitory area into a dead, silent darkness. Walking through it, with the sound of footsteps echoing in the empty hallways, was enough to make one despair.

"Did Teacher Zhou say what he wanted to see us about?"

"I think it’s about the food shortage... We have to figure out a way to find more food..."
