After arriving at the production site for the show Wilderness Survival: Two Together.
Chen Wen first t with Hua Yun, who had arrived earlier.
Introduced by Hua Yun, Chen Wen t the director this ti, Abel.
Abel, a middle-aged Caucasian man, had a good relationship with the director of Desert Death Battle.
Therefore, seeing Chen Wen made Abel very excited: "Hello, Chen Wen, I’ve been looking forward to eting you today!"
Chen Wen shook hands with Abel and responded smoothly in English: "Hello, Director Abel, I’ve heard a lot about you!"
After exchanging so business pleasantries, Abel got to the point: "Regarding the issue of paynt, we have agreed."
"Three hundred thousand, as long as you agree, it will be paid imdiately. If you win the championship, an additional five hundred thousand!"
"But...."
Hearing the "but", Chen Wen instinctively grimaced.
He dreaded hearing "but".
But what Abel said next surprised Chen Wen: "However, after the filming is complete, we’d like Mr. Chen Wen to participate in recording a promotional video and advertise for us during the survival period."
"Miss Hua Yun should be aware that for a high-paying show like ours, we need contestants to advertise and promote during the show, or we stand to lose a lot."
Hua Yun nodded in agreent.
What Abel said was quite reasonable; they’re directly offering three hundred thousand US dollars, so advertising is basic.
Chen Wen had no objections either.
This show might not even air dostically, so advertising isn’t a big deal.
The cost is on foreign audiences anyway.
"That’s good, that’s good."
Abel said with a cheerful smile: "Please wait for a few days at our temporary campsite. Once all contestants arrive, we’ll start recording imdiately."
"We’ve also provided information on the flora and fauna of the Yukon Territory, as well as so information about other contestants. If you need anything, feel free to contact us."
The temporary camp of the production team was in a very nice hotel.
Moreover, the production team generously booked the entire hotel.
Chen Wen almost dropped his jaw upon hearing this news.
Having participated in two survival shows, this was the first ti he encountered such a lavish production team!
"This ti, the program’s budget is quite ample."
Seeing Chen Wen’s surprise, Hua Yun explained: "It’s because there’s an investor behind the production team."
"That investor is nad Belmont, a very successful entrepreneur; this hotel is part of his enterprise."
Chen Wen chuckled upon hearing that: "Sister Hua, back ho, such an entrepreneur would be called a capitalist."
"Well... calling him a capitalist would be fair. The history of the Belmont family’s rise is indeed filled with bloodshed."
Hua Yun also laughed: "You know the gold rush, right? Belmont’s ancestor accumulated enough capital during the gold rush to rise as a major capitalist in the Yukon Territory."
"His ancestors were among the first to reach Klondike, mined quite a bit of gold, and did a lot of looting."
"But that’s all history now. You shouldn’t say this when eting them."
Chen Wen nodded.
That’s for sure.
Many families got rich during the gold rush, but they all had dirty deeds.
If you really dig into it, streetlight manufacturers would make a fortune.
At this point, Jiang Chang also joined in.
Upon hearing Chen Wen and Hua Yun’s discussion, she chid in: "Currently, the Belmont family mainly operates hotels and tourism. This Mr. Belmont even has a gold mine being mined."
Chen Wen tisked: "Wow, they really do have a mine at ho!"
"It’s quite strange."
Jiang Chang seed to rember sothing, speaking with so doubt: "Before this program began, I never heard of Mr. Belmont liking outdoor sports. On the contrary, this gentleman loved history."
"Maybe he thinks outdoor activities are profitable?"
Hua Yun chid in: "Outdoor activities have been quite popular these years, and our Wilderness Survival has benefited too, being on the rise. It’s normal for people to invest."
They didn’t dwell much on this topic.
Soon, they arrived at the hotel.
Chen Wen stayed in a suite with his two assistants, while Hua Yun and her assistants stayed across the hall.
Hua Yun’s assistants were also a man and a woman. The man, nad Qi Yang, was a very kind-hearted uncle from the Mongolian ethnic group.
The woman, nad Luo Yao, was in her forties, with the deanor of a strong woman.
After a brief introduction, Chen Wen went back to his room to look at the materials.
...
In the evening, Chen Wen and Hua Yun went to the hotel restaurant for dinner together.
It was a formal introduction.
At the dinner table, Hua Yun also handed over her already set plan to Chen Wen, so he could look it over in advance and give so feedback.
After dinner.
Lin Jiawei went to a eting with the production team, while Jiang Chang planned to go out to buy so snacks.
Chen Wen had no choice but to go upstairs alone.
While going upstairs, Chen Wen encountered an elderly man in the elevator.
The man seed to be an expert invited by the program team, staying on the sa floor as Chen Wen.
The elderly man was holding quite a few things, and Chen Wen enthusiastically offered to help him carry them.
"What are these?"
Chen Wen took the box from the elderly man’s hands, feeling it was quite heavy.
The elderly man smiled and said, "It’s history."
"History?"
Chen Wen was surprised by the man’s response.
The elderly man nodded, smiling: "Yes, I’ve been researching the history of the Yukon River for a long ti."
"Impressive."
Chen Wen offered so perfunctory praise.
At this mont, the elevator arrived.
Chen Wen and the elderly man, one after the other, approached the man’s room door.
The elderly man opened the door, and the sight inside surprised Chen Wen imnsely.
The room was filled with nurous books and photographs.
Chen Wen curiously glanced around but couldn’t make out much.
"Thank you so much, young man."
The elderly man said with a smile: "You must be one of the contestants invited by Mr. Belmont, right? I wish you good luck."
"Thank you."
Chen Wen placed the box down and smiled back at the elderly man.
Before parting, the elderly man handed Chen Wen a book: "This is my work, about the history of the Yukon River Basin. I hope it helps you."
Chen Wen accepted it with a smile, expressing that he would definitely read it.
...
Returning to his room, Chen Wen placed the elderly man’s book on the bedside table.
Despite what he said, Chen Wen definitely wouldn’t read it now.
History is surely dull, good for putting one to sleep.
There’s barely enough ti to review materials; history books are out of the question.
At nine in the evening, Lin Jiawei returned with news that all contestants had arrived, and rules and tool selection would be announced tomorrow.
The first week would be preliminary recording, and survival officially begins in a week.
Upon hearing this news, Chen Wen’s expression grew serious.
The timing couldn’t be later.
The show starts in early October.
By then, the Yukon River would start cooling down, with so areas beginning to freeze.
This isn’t good news for survival.
If this lasts too long, the Yukon River could completely freeze over.
Food resources will beco a major issue, adding to Chen Wen’s concerns.
Without fresh food, it will be hard to build the entries and turn the icy Yukon Territory into his ho turf.
Overall, this survival will be very challenging, far more difficult than the Sonora Desert and islands.
The night deepens.
Chen Wen lay in bed, tossing and turning unable to sleep.
Partly due to being unaccustod to the hotel and partly from concerns about this survival challenge.
Ultimately, Chen Wen turned on the lamp, deciding to read the history book to induce sleep.
