Her shoulders sagged weakly as she lowered her gaze to her toes, her voice very soft but still audible to Matthew Saxon: "If that’s the case, I have nothing more to say. If you truly believe I’ve betrayed you, then let’s break up."
"I know you would never tolerate a woman who has betrayed you."
As the word "breakup" slipped from her lips, her eyes ward, and silent tears slid down her cheeks as if a knife had cut away a piece of her heart.
"Breakup?" As she uttered that word, Matthew Saxon’s face turned extrely unpleasant.
"Scarlett Yates, now everyone in Z City knows we are getting married, and you’re asking to break up with you on the eve of our wedding. Are you deliberately trying to make a laughing stock?"
"I’m not."
"What did Maxwell Saxon promise you? Did he tell you that after we break up, he’ll take you away from Z City? Did he also tell you he’ll work hard to make money to support you, ensuring you never suffer any grievances?"
"It’s not like that. I’ve already made it clear to him; he won’t find again. Matthew Saxon, I beg you, don’t say more. Since we can’t even trust each other anymore, we better break up."
"You wish!"
Hearing the word "breakup" from her lips again, a flash of anger crossed Matthew Saxon’s eyes. He stepped forward with a somber face.
His deep, cold eyes fixed on her as he pressed her shoulders firmly and said each word with determination: "I will never break up with you, Scarlett Yates. You can forget about giving you and Maxwell Saxon my blessing."
Scarlett Yates shivered subtly, raising her head, her red and swollen eyes pleadingly looking at Matthew Saxon.
Only then did Matthew Saxon see that she was crying, tears still glistening in her eyes, and her gaze directed at him carried a mix of grievance, sadness, and perhaps a hint of disappointnt.
His heart trembled slightly, nearly softened by her tearful eyes.
But rembering her deceit and betrayal, he felt she was utterly unforgivable.
He had already forgiven her once; he had given her another chance. But what did his forgiveness bring in return?
This heartless woman, she doesn’t deserve his kindness. Being too good to her results only in her continually doing things that disappoint him. This ti, he won’t forgive her again.
Yet she shouldn’t think he would let go so easily.
Even if she’s unforgivable, he wouldn’t let her leave just like that.
She belongs to him.
He suddenly reached out, grabbing her wrist forcefully, his grip rough and disregarding her feelings as he dragged her to the bathroom.
Bang —
The bathroom door was kicked open by him, then slamd shut with force by another kick.
He dragged her straight to the shower area, regardless of her struggles, never loosening his grip at all, as if his hand was embedded in her flesh, impossible to shake free.
He coldly pushed open the glass door and coldly dragged her inside.
"Matthew Saxon, what are you doing?" Her wrist nearly felt like it would break, with a red circle where he clutched it.
Scarlett Yates paled from the pain, furrowing her brows, biting her lip tightly, gasping heavily: "It hurts! Let go!"
"Hurt?" He suddenly turned, his cold gaze stabbing her face like icy needles, curling his lips in a rciless sneer, mocking, "You know pain? Weren’t you the one who most easily stabbed knives into others’ hearts? Why don’t you think about whether others would hurt when you do this!"
