Matthew Saxon prevented her from doing so, reaching out to turn her head back, holding her chin firmly, stopping her from avoiding his gaze.
Like Scarlett Yates, his heart raced.

Seeing her blushing and unable to et his eyes, Matthew felt a slight stir in his heart, lifted her chin, and forced her to look at him: "Scarlett, tell , did Maxwell Saxon have you?"
At first, he was convinced that she and Maxwell Saxon had progressed to the most intimate stage.
So, he was furious, even felt like killing soone.
But now, seeing her so shy, he thought that maybe things weren’t as he imagined.
At least, not as bad as he thought.
The question was sowhat insulting to Scarlett Yates.
His asking proved that he believed she had an improper relationship with Maxwell Saxon; in his mind, her image was quite tarnished already.
His distrust towards her had reached this level.
Her cheeks, just flushed with shyness, instantly cooled after he asked that question.
She pushed one hand against his chest, creating a small distance, not wanting to be too close to him, smiled bitterly, and said with a coarse voice: "No, I told him if he dared do such a thing to , I’d kill him first and then kill myself."

He probably wouldn’t believe it, thinking she was lying again.
Thinking of this, Scarlett Yates felt deeply powerless.
Matthew Saxon’s arms tightened around her, his eyes glimred slightly, his voice lowered: "You didn’t lie to ?"

Matthew Saxon didn’t speak, only held her tighter.
Steam from the bathtub floated into the air, turning into white mist.
On the floor, clothes were scattered everywhere, hers and his, piled together in a ss.
In the large bathtub, she was held in his arms, skin touching, intimately.
It should have been a highly romantic atmosphere, but Scarlett Yates had no romantic thoughts at all.
She only felt sad.
Even though they were so closely snuggled together, this intimacy was only on the surface.
