Glory City.
This was the capital of the Kalos Empire.
Lin Fan certainly never would have imagined that he would be in a place like this, but here he was.
Of course, he wasn't using his real identity in this place.
Lin Fan had to be amazed by the amount of power that the Laver Empire possessed that they were able to give him this identity in the first place.
After all, the identity that they gave him was anything but simple.
For him to accomplish his goal in this Laver Empire, it wasn't as if just any identity would work. It required him to have a special identity or else he wouldn't even be able to step into the front door.
For that to work, it required him to have quite a few contacts that would be able to vouch for him. At the sa ti, these contacts had to be people that had lived in this Glory City for a while or else they wouldn't be treated as trustworthy.
That was why it was amazing that the Laver Empire had prepared all of this.
It just went to show how deeply the Laver Empire had invested in their information network in the Kalos Empire. It showed how many people from the Laver Empire had infiltrated deep into the Kalos Empire.
"If they have this many people, how is the Kalos Empire even able to keep up with the Laver Empire? It really seems like they should be able to take them down whenever they want."
That was the only thought that Lin Fan had when he saw all the resources that the Laver Empire possessed.
But he quickly threw that thought out.
After all, there was no telling what the Kalos Empire possessed.
In the first place, this capital city was considered the capital of the Kalos Empire. However, that didn't an that the power of the Kalos Empire was concentrated in this place.
The national power of the Kalos Empire was split up into six different parts that were split between the six different factions. However, none of them concentrated their power into this capital city
Even the three royal factions that were gathered around the three princes kept their forces in a different place.
Even if the capital was the place where the royal family held power, the three princes wouldn't keep their power where the other three would be able to discover them. They hid them in their own territories so that the other three princes wouldn't be able to do anything to them.
That was why the capital city of the Kalos Empire was nothing more than a show.
The six factions put so troops here since this was the symbol of the Kalos Empire, so they couldn't let this capital city fall that easily.
But compared to where they concentrated their power, the capital city wasn't actually that well defended.
Once Lin Fan realized this, he didn't think that it was that strange that the Laver Empire was able to sneak that many spies in for so long.
This place was nothing more than a pretty vase.
So he threw the thoughts that he had out and focused on the building that was in front of him. Though to call it a building was a bit of an understatent since this was anything but a normal building.
There was a castle that was in front of him.
This was the castle where the 'ruler' of the Kalos Empire lived.
Only he wasn't here to see the 'ruler'.
Instead of heading into the main doors, Lin Fan followed a group of people into one of the side doors that led to the training grounds of the castle.
In this place, there were quite a few young people that were gathered.
All of them seed different from the soldiers that Lin Fan had seen previously.
That was because this was a group of elite young people.
Just from his spiritual sense, he was able to tell that these people were at the level of a Foundation Realm Cultivator. There were even a few of them that were close to the Peak Foundation Realm.
As for the reason why these people had all gathered here…
"Welco to the royal guards examination."
This place was the examination site for those that wanted to join the royal guards.
Yue Lan hadn't lied to Lin Fan when she told him about this place, she had actually prepared a spot for him in this examination to beco a royal guard. As for whether he passed or not, that was all up to him.
But if it ant that he had to compete with these people in the Foundation Realm, it wasn't as if this was a hard thing for him to do.
In a sense, it was like a university student taking the sa test as grade schoolers.
"First place…"
That was what the examiner said when he saw how hard Lin Fan punched the boulder in front of him. There was no resistance at all from the boulder as Lin Fan's fist shattered it to pieces.
There were even so people that would have been injured by the pieces that flew away from the boulder if the examiners hadn't reacted in ti.
However, Lin Fan felt that he had ssed up.
After all, he only wanted to take first place in the exam, he didn't want to show off this much.
But compared to everyone else, it seed that he had far exceeded what was necessary.
When Lin Fan saw the others punch the boulder, he had seen how they hadn't been able to do anything to it. So he thought that if he put just a bit more strength into it, then he would be able to do a bit more.
The problem was that this was a test of physique.
The knights of the magic continent were different from the cultivators of the cultivation continent. They didn't have their physique enhanced with spiritual energy, rather they buffed themselves with magic.
That ant that they just weren't as naturally strong as those cultivators who refined their bodies with spiritual energy.
So this physique test was one where they didn't use magic and just used the pure power of their bodies. Those that were able to form even a few cracks on the boulder were already considered strong.
To shatter the boulder completely like this…
It didn't take long for Lin Fan to be known as a gorilla by the rest of the examinees.
Even the examiner seed to look at Lin Fan in the sa way.
At least they didn't do anything to him because of how excessive he had passed the first exam. At least they still treated him as one of them instead of treating him as a monster.
That just went to show how open and frank these knights were.
If it was the cultivation continent, there would be those that would try to sabotage him with different rumours if they were trying out for the sa sect.
The cultivation continent was far more cutthroat than this magic continent.
The rest of the tests went by like a breeze.
Lin Fan was just a cut above the others when it ca to his strength, but at least he learned to hold back by the second exam. This ti, he made sure to check the others carefully so he would be able to hold back and seem to be on the sa level as them.
It was made possible because of his Appraisal Eyes and his Magic Manipulation Skill.
That Magic Manipulation allowed him to perfectly control his spiritual energy in the form of mana.
And the second exam was one of mana.
These were the two fundantal parts of being a knight, so it was only natural that they would be two of the tests in this royal guard examination. If one didn't possess this, then they wouldn't be strong enough to be a royal guard.
As for the third exam, it was sothing completely different.
The third exam was an additional exam that was to test for a certain quality from these royal guard candidates. It wasn't sothing that was necessary for them to beco a royal guard, but it was a trait that would be looked kindly upon.
"Let's see if there are any of them that are capable of leading."
That was what the examiners said to each other in secret which Lin Fan learned through his spiritual sense.
The third exam was a large mock battle between groups. There was no one chosen as the leader, they were all free to act how they wanted.
However, Lin Fan took control of his group and led them to victory.
It was easy for him to take control since they had already seen the power that he demonstrated in the two previous rounds. At the sa ti, Lin Fan knew how to act to make these open and frank knights follow him.
They followed one that was similar to them of course.
With Lin Fan leading the way, they overpowered the rest of the groups and swept through the battlefield.
In the end, it was Lin Fan's group that won the fight and Lin Fan was crowned first for all three exams.
That made him the top candidate in this royal guard exam.
Because of that, there were quite a few people that started paying attention to him.
These were people from the six factions that had co to watch this royal guard exam.
These were people that were here to poach.
