"Sir Ferdinand, you must co and see this."
"The tracks lead quite deep into the woods, it seems like you’re out of luck this ti."
"I really thought that I had found sothing this ti."
Lin Fan didn’t show any reaction to the words of the nobles around him.
They also didn’t mind him since all of them were focused on the forest in front of them.
All of them were here for one thing and one thing only, which was why they only cared about that one thing.
But this was the one thing that Lin Fan had in common with them.
The third task that he had to take care of was to hunt a hind, which was a kind of deer. This kind of deer lived in a certain place that was guarded by the royal family of this country that he was currently in.
It was a place that only certain people would be allowed into during certain tis.
If it wasn’t for the fact that he ca at just the right ti, then he really wouldn’t have gotten the chance to co into this forest.
Only that right ti was during the middle of a royal hunt.
With Lin Fan’s identity as a S Rank Adventurer, he was soone that was respected enough to be invited to the hunt. Though instead of being invited as a guest, it was more that he had been invited as a spectacle or even as so kind of guard.
S Rank Adventurers were respected, but it wasn’t as if they would have the sa status as a noble.
So even if he was invited to the sa place, the nobles around him all treated him as if he was so kind of helper rather than as a guest.
Lin Fan didn’t really care since that gave him the freedom to move however he wanted.
The only thing that he really had to do was pay attention to the royal family from ti to ti.
Since they were the ones that invited him, it ant that he had to at least make sure that they were safe. If sothing were to happen to the royal family, then it was likely that he would be used as so kind of scapegoat.
Though it wasn’t as if there was anything that could happen to the royal family in this place.
This was a place that they completely controlled and had posted guards all over the place. If there was sothing that really happened to the royal family in a place like this, it could only be considered a large conspiracy.
Which was why Lin Fan just casually watched over them without thinking much about them.
What he cared more about was the hind that he was supposed to find.
The only reason that he was going along with these nobles in the first place was because he didn’t want to stand out too much, but there was only so much that he could take from them.
After a certain point, he slipped away from this group of nobles that he had been with and headed deeper into this forest.
This wasn’t a place that many people ca to since this was a more dangerous place than the outskirts of this forest.
This was a place where the most dangerous of the beasts of this forest lived.
Which naturally included the hind that Lin Fan was looking for.
When he ca across other people in this place, the way that they looked at him wasn’t with kindness. The way that the others looked at him was as if they were looking at a rival which wasn’t wrong.
All of them were here to hunt stronger beasts so that they would have a higher chance of winning this royal hunt.
Not that Lin Fan cared about what they wanted.
In the first place, there was only one beast that he was here to hunt and it was one that he was certain that no one would be able to catch.
"The phantom hind."
That was the nickna that the people gave this one beast.
There were many that had tried to hunt down this hind in the past, but there wasn’t a single person that had ever been able to find it and hunt it down.
It was all because of how fast this hind was.
"It’s said that it disappears like the wind."
"I’ve heard that when you see it, all you see is its afterimage."
"That’s nothing, I’ve heard that this hind is supposedly a ghost in the first place which is why no one has ever been able to catch it."
There were all kinds of rumours that spread in the inns of the capital city, these were rumours that Lin Fan had even heard from the Adventurer’s Guild branch posted here.
The one thing that all of these rumours had in common was the speed that this hind possessed.
But if there was one thing that Lin Fan was confident in dealing with, it was a beast that had this kind of speed. He had all kinds of thods that would allow him to catch this hind.
The first thing that he had to do was find this hind.
While he ignored the other competitors, that didn’t an that they ignored him.
In the end, there were a few that ca over to Lin Fan and said, "So, you’re a S Rank Adventurer. It seems like you think you’re all that special because you’re S Rank."
A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this.
Not because he was bothered by the fact that they were antagonizing him, it was just that the way that they did it really made them seem like generic bad guys which Lin Fan found funny.
But in the end, he didn’t even bother saying anything to them since he knew that there was nothing to gain from getting involved with them.
It was just that these people didn’t seem like they were going to let it go.
These were rather young n that had co forward to antagonize Lin Fan like this, so it was clear that this was a matter of pride for them. Only Lin Fan really wasn’t interested in playing with these kids.
The problem was that he didn’t really seem to have a choice.
"You’re just ignoring us now? Who do you think you are?"
The more that he ignored them, the angrier they beca.
It was obvious that these were spoiled nobles that had gotten whatever they wanted, so the fact that soone would ignore them like this pricked a nerve for them. When they faced sothing like this for the first ti, they wanted to use force to get rid of it.
"It seems like they won’t give up unless I take care of them." Lin Fan said with a sigh under his breath.
He really didn’t want to deal with these people since it would be nothing more than a waste of ti, but at this rate...
Only before Lin Fan could actually make a move, there was a rustle that ca from so bushes near them.
The young nobles might have been arrogant, but that didn’t an that they were weak. The mont that they heard this, they imdiately directed their attention from Lin Fan to the sound.
At the sa ti, they spread out as if they were planning on surrounding this thing in the bush.
It was just that they never got the chance to do so.
"Oomph."
That was the sound that was made when one of the young nobles was sent flying.
From the way that he was sent flying, one could see that he had been launched with incredible force. It was just that no one really saw the thing that had sent this young noble flying.
By the ti that they ca back to their senses, there was another young noble that was sent flying just like the first one. It was as if they couldn’t defend against whatever was attacking them.
"Sh*t, use him as a shield!"
Once they said this, all of the young nobles started running towards Lin Fan.
It was obvious that they were planning to use him as a shield from whatever was out there attacking them.
Of course, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was going to allow them to do that.
It was easy for him to get out of the way since he was faster than these young nobles.
When they saw this, they said, "It’s your duty to protect nobles like us! You’re just an adventurer!"
Lin Fan just shook his head with a faint smile without giving a response as he continued moving out of the way. He didn’t care about these young nobles at all, the only thing that he really cared about was the thing that was attacking them.
This thing was moving with a speed that was almost hard for him to follow, but he was able to keep up in the end with his spiritual sense. Though that was only in the space that he released his spiritual sense.
The thing that was moving back and forth went in and out of the area that he spread his spiritual sense in, so he wasn’t able to fully keep up with it.
But there was at least one thing that Lin Fan was able to confirm using his spiritual sense.
"The shape of this thing, it’s clearly so kind of deer."
If it was in the shape of a deer, then it should be the thing that he was looking for.
