Even though the top of the imperial tomb had already been reduced to ruins by the Sword Qi, the massive giant remained indifferent.

The sunlight spilled over his body, and this even gave the massive giant a long-lost feeling. Although he had, on several occasions, shrunk his body to go out and buy snacks, when was the last ti he exposed his true form under the bright daylight?

It seed to have been a long ti ago, a very long ti ago.

However, the current situation was different from back then. Back then, he was hunted down as a monster by those he trusted, but this ti, he was the one hunting the monster.

The monster nad Du Chengfeng.

Excessive Evil Qi had long since destroyed that mortal body, transforming it into a manifestation of Evil Qi. The spreading blood and weapons tainted with the grievances and wails of the deceased—this was more of a moving catastrophe than so kind of monster, leaving only carnage and death in its wake.

The warm sunlight bathed the massive giant, and he felt he ought to do sothing.

Indeed, this was perhaps what he truly wanted—not to be hunted as a monster by humans, but to conquer the monster as the strongest human.

But as the massive giant swung his fist at the monster, a similarly massive golden-armored deity raised a Magic Sword to block the punch.

"Ascension to Immortality is right ahead!"

Half a Daoist holding a Brass Magic Sword erged from the ground strewn with flesh.

"Don’t disturb this Daoist’s ascension!"

"Ascension to Immortality?"

The familiar words echoed in his ears, causing the massive giant to pause slightly.

Ascension to Immortality—this phrase he had heard before, or rather, it was exceedingly familiar to him—after all, those people of Chu used to refer to him as the "Immortal Body," and in their casual chats, they never avoided talking about him, a created tool.

Most mortals understood Immortals as carefree and unrestrained, but in the Chu people’s language, Immortals signified ultimate power. Becoming an Immortal and mastering that power was nearly every Chu person’s shared desire, but clearly, achieving this with a mortal body was nearly impossible.

So it required the extraordinary, even the supernatural, a transformation from weakness to omnipotence to beco a true Immortal.

And this process of transformation to Immortality, the people of Chu called it "Ascension."

Just like an ugly crawling caterpillar breaking its cocoon to beco a colorful butterfly in the sky, though the people of Chu didn’t much care for the scales on butterflies. They preferred the colorful feathers of birds, akin to the immortal phoenix they worshipped. The Chu believed only a massive, even unbearable, trial by death could lead to rebirth in flas, reaching true transcendence.

"In other words..."

At this mont, the massive giant sharply captured the key to everything.

The knives, guns, swords, and halberds in front of him were re illusions; the massive flesh monster was only an external shell. Its true core was nurturing a chrysalis.

Or rather, an egg.

"Boom!"

At this mont, the massive giant suddenly heard a heartbeat.

The sound was faint but very pure; just the re thud made the massive giant feel the imnse ambition and drive.

Clearly, in the centuries he’d secluded himself in the imperial tomb, those last descendants of the Chu weren’t completely inactive.

Perhaps those brutal Chu people indeed created sothing.

"No matter what, the hatching mustn’t be completed!"

At this mont, the massive giant realized this clearly.

So, the massive giant took a deep breath.

Then he stretched out his hands, slashing open both forearms.

The black blood spilling upon the ground enticed the spreading flesh to scramble for it—but imdiately, from the wounds sprang bony blades tearing the flesh to pieces, swept away by the Evil Qi, reducing everything to dust.

He was a weapon himself, so naturally, he could use his body to create weapons.

However, the bony blades were ultimately blocked by sothing harder and sharper.

All the weapons held by arms on the ground had, at so point, transford into the sa weapon.

It was an eerie halberd entirely made of white bone.

"Overlord Halberd..."

The massive giant’s face darkened.

In the past, he had rely caught a glimpse of this weapon from afar; with his status, he wasn’t qualified to wield this emblem of the Chu royal family’s authority—but back then, he didn’t much care. After all, whether as a weapon or a being with combat abilities, he far surpassed the old halberd.

But now it seed...

The true purpose of the Overlord Halberd lay not in combat.

Thinking this, the massive giant once again raised a pair of battle blades, shredding the obstructive golden-armored deity to pieces.

But soon, another massive monster blocked his path.

It was a two-headed monster with thirteen arms, one head resembling an eagle, and the other a bear. This inhuman creature screeched as it swung thirteen bony halberds at him.

"Hee hee hee! We shall ascend to the sky!"

The two battle blades pierced the monster’s two heads, yet the thirteen Overlord Halberds also embedded into the massive giant’s body, the sharp blades slicing his skin, even digging into his bones.

Perhaps this was the first ti in his life he was injured in battle.

The impenetrable skin could not repel the strikes of the Overlord Halberds. Clearly, the Chu people who created him knew best how to deal with him—he could even feel the deep-seated hatred of generations of Chu descendants upon those blade edges, manifesting as pure and unwavering murderous intent.

And the Overlord Halberds before him were far more than these thirteen.

With every step, dozens of halberds gripped his body, tearing his flesh, yet he resolutely continued forward, making his way step by step. While it seed like his flesh was gradually being stripped away, he felt inexplicably lighter, as if sothing never belonging to him was finally distant.

But he was ultimately a step too late.

When he finally saw the flesh egg hidden within the massive monster, the egg emitting boundless ambition, it had already begun to glow.

Sothing was about to be born from that egg.
