Chapter 220: A Letter from Sirius
Purgatory, The Land Where Life and Death Intersect
POV of Doric Bolton
"Actually, there’s one more question I want to ask," Doric said.
"Go ahead and ask," Lady Death said.
"My parents... my parents in my past world... Jas and Lily Potter... is there any way I can bring them back in the future?" Doric asked, clearly a little afraid of a negative answer.
"Hmm... Frankly, as you guessed, with the power you have now, or rather the power you will have after obtaining the other two parts, it is possible to learn a thod to summon souls and provide them with new bodies. There will be so restrictions, of course, but ultimately, the power you have is a power that belongs to , Lady Death," she said.
But before the smile that was about to appear on Doric’s face could fully form, Lady Death continued.
"But there are so things you need to know, Harry. The souls, as I ntioned before, are very special beings. Even we Primordials have no permission to do anything with them other than a few adjustnts. So even if you summon your parents’ souls, it is their choice whether they want to stay here." Lady Death said seriously.
"You don’t have to worry about that. If they don’t want to co here and stay where they are, that’s fine with . I just want to have a happy life with my family if that’s what they want." Doric said with a smile.
"I’m glad to hear that. It’s good to have goals, but never let them grow into obsessions. Otherwise, you’ll beco a slave to your obsessions." Lady Death said.
"Thanks for the advice. I’ll be careful." Doric said and then continued. "I have no further questions. And I suppose that ans we’ve reached the end of our conversation. Now, may I know the nas of the other two souls you sent here?"
Lady Death chuckled at this and said. "You’re rather impatient about this, aren’t you, Harry? But as I said, I’ll give you the nas when we’re finished talking. There are two more things I need to cover before we’re done. Short matters, don’t worry."
"Then please continue," Doric said.
Lady Death then snapped her fingers, and a letter appeared in her hand. As she handed the letter to Doric, she said, "When Sirius Black learned that I would be contacting you, he asked to give you a ssage. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that he traded an award he had won for this. So, I allowed him to write you a letter. But you must read it here. This letter has no physical existence. Therefore, you cannot take it back with you."
Doric quickly took the letter Lady Death held out to him, opened it, and began to read. His slightly trembling hands showed his anxiety.
---------------
Dear Harry,
Don’t ask how I wrote this. I promised I wouldn’t say much about it. All I’ll say is that I’m currently one of Lady Death’s champions, traveling through different worlds to complete various tasks for her.
Frankly, it’s a more fitting life for than waiting in the afterlife. The afterlife was pleasant at first, especially reuniting with Jas and Lily. But you know . I’m not soone who can sit still.
I recently learned from a source that you had crossed over into another world. I don’t know the exact details, but it was good news to hear you had a second chance.
But there were things I needed to tell you. And I asked Lady Death for permission to send you a ssage, but she permitted to write a letter. Frankly, she’s a good boss.
First of all, please don’t feel sorry for . Or at least, don’t feel too sad. The place I died was in the middle of a Wizard’s Duel. I died standing, battling, and fighting for my family. I was born as a Black, but I died as a warrior, and that was an honorable end for .
Fighting for Jas and Lily... and for you. That was sothing I wouldn’t hesitate for a mont.
You probably keep thinking about that mont when you tried to save . That last look before I fell behind that damned Veil. I’m telling you, Harry, forget about that guilt. It wasn’t that crazy, Bellatrix, who brought there, but my instinct to protect your life. And to , even a mont of your life is worth all my years. Watching Jas’ son grow up to be a much braver and more loyal person than anyone I know was worth all those years I spent in Azkaban.
I was in the afterlife with Jas and Lily for a while. I told them about you. It’s more accurate to say I told them everything. Jas was bragging about your Quidditch achievents, and Lily had that sa stubborn, loving look in her eyes as yours and said, "Just like ." They’re proud of you, Harry. Just like I am.
But listen to : Your journey isn’t over yet, Harry. I may not be with you anymore. And you may no longer be with your friends in your old world. But don’t let that affect your new life. Make new friends. Fall in love. Have children. And na one of your sons, Sirius.
Lady Death said that because now I’m one of her champions, there’s a chance we’ll et soday. Apparently, it depends on the choices you make. But don’t let that influence your choices, Prongslet. Your happiness is the most important thing to . Don’t let anything get in the way of that.
I’m always with you, Harry. In the moonlight streaming through your window as you try to fall asleep, in the big black dog running behind you like a shadow. When you have to fight, you’ll know I’m with you.
Thank you for loving , son. I love you too.
With pride and love,
Sirius
---------------
By the ti Doric reached the end of the letter, his vision had begun to blur with tears.
Doric sat there for a while, staring at the letter in his hand. Tears stread down his cheeks as he read Sirius’s letter over and over again.
Lady Death and Lady Terra waited without intervening.
After a while, no longer rembering how many tis he had read the letter, Doric gently placed it on the table and wiped his tears with his hands.
Then he turned his gaze to Lady Death and asked, "Sirius ntioned in his letter that there was a chance we might et again. What does that an exactly?"
"The second thing I want to tell you about is actually related to this. Those who choose to be my permanent champion, Death Kings, travel to many worlds to solve problems for . Sirius is one of these people. And these people can et in my own world, in the realm known to humans as hell, or at certain special events." Lady Death said and paused to take a sip of her tea.
At this point, Doric spoke up and asked her, "So you want to be one of these permanent champions, Death Kings, and travel around the multiverse, world by world, solving problems?"
