All thirty-six Floating Crystal Cones activated, transforming into a silver storm that split into four streams.
Like drills, they bored toward the Soul Fires within the four skeletal guards’ skulls.
At the sa ti, he extended both hands. With his left, a Frost Ash Beam swept out, its purple light engulfing the two guards in front of him.
With his right, a Scorching Beam condensed into an extrely thin, bright white thread that shot straight for Murphy’s chest.
Murphy snorted coldly, forced to interrupt part of his Spell.
A Shield of Soul Wail, ford from countless souls, instantly materialized before him.
HISS!
The Scorching Beam struck the Soul Shield. Its Yang Fla properties clashed violently with the Death Energy, creating a piercing sizzle of annihilation.
The Soul Shield fluctuated violently, a deep pit seared into it, but the beam failed to penetrate completely.
anwhile, Ian’s storm of Crystal Cones had engaged the skeletal guards.
Their Dark Gold bones were unusually tough, but the Crystal Cones, imbued with the Spirit Devourer attribute, dealt extra damage to Soul Fire.
Soon, the Soul Fire of one guard was pierced and scattered by the Crystal Cones, and it collapsed to the ground with a crash.
Murphy’s gaze grew colder. He stopped trying to prepare a large-scale Witchcraft.
Bone Spear Storm. Aging Curse. Grip of Death...
A relentless barrage of insidious Witchcraft, coordinated with the skeletal guards’ assault, forced Ian into one perilous situation after another.
Ian’s Shield shattered and re-ford again and again.
The three layers of his Ring of Overlapping Peaks were stretched thin under Murphy’s fierce attack. Spirit Devourer worked frantically, converting energy to replenish his Shield and his own Spiritual Power, but it still couldn’t keep up with the expenditure.
His formidable body took the brunt of several energy splashes. His robes were torn, and his skin was marred with scorched and corroded wounds.
"CAW!" Gaga harassed Murphy relentlessly.
Its On Eye interfered ti and again, and its Wind Blades sliced through the air, relieving so of the pressure on Ian.
But it was also grazed on the wing by a Finger of Death. A few of its feathers turned to Ashes, and it grimaced in pain.
The battle was fierce and deadlocked.
Ian fought as he retreated, gradually drawing closer to the altar.
Murphy grew increasingly agitated, unable to secure a quick victory.
’I’m a dignified Level One Peak Liquid Wizard who has played his trump cards, yet I can’t take down a newly promoted Vaporization brat!’
The interference from that Summoned Demon and the strange Devouring ability of Ian’s Shield had greatly diminished the effectiveness of many of his killing moves.
’I have to end this quickly!’
A vicious glint flashed in Murphy’s eyes. He bit the tip of his tongue and spat a mouthful of Essence Blood onto the skull of his Magic Staff.
The ghastly white flas in the skull’s sockets instantly surged, turning into an eerie green fire!
A terrifying aura that could freeze the very Soul spread through the air.
"Withered!"
Murphy roared hoarsely, pointing his Magic Staff at Ian.
A gray-green beam, as thin as a hair and condensed to the absolute limit, shot toward the spot between Ian’s eyebrows as if ignoring space itself.
This was Murphy’s ultimate killing move, capable of directly causing Erosion to one’s Soul Origin and the Annihilation of their life force.
The hair on Ian’s arms stood on end. The sense of mortal danger was stronger than ever before!
He let out a furious roar as the liquefied Spiritual Power in his Sea of Spirit burned wildly. He pushed his Crystal Energy Barrier to its absolute limit!
All his Crystal Cones instantly returned, rging with, stacking upon, and compressing into his main Shield...
...forming an incredibly thick, Dark Silver greatshield before him, covered in dark red Spirit Devourer runes.
At the sa ti, the pale purple glow of the Frost Ash Beam at his left fingertip compressed to its limit, becoming a single, brilliant purple star.
The gray-green beam struck the greatshield.
The greatshield instantly turned gray and decayed. The Spirit Devourer runes flowed frantically, but their Devouring speed was far outpaced by the rate of Erosion.
The shield’s surface thinned rapidly as cracks spread across it.
Just as the greatshield was about to completely disintegrate,
a fierce light exploded in Ian’s eyes. The compressed Frost Ash Beam now had strange flecks of golden-red light within its pale purple glow.
"Go!"
Ian gathered all his essence, energy, and spirit into this single point of destructive light and thrust it forward, right back along the path of the incoming gray-green beam!
BUZZ!
A strange hum resonated through the air.
The gray-green power of Withered and the annihilating force of ice and fire eroded and neutralized each other...
BOOM!
A terrifying shockwave erupted in front of the altar.
The altar, built of Obsidian and bone, trembled violently, the Runes on its surface flickering erratically.
Murphy’s Shield of Soul Wail shattered instantly.
He grunted, was sent flying backward, and slamd into the rock wall, spitting out black blood mixed with fragnts of his internal organs.
Ian’s Shield also disintegrated completely, and the residual force of the impact threw him violently.
He crashed against the edge of the altar. Fortunately, his formidable body withstood the impact, but spots of blood still stained his robes.
Gaga shrieked and dove over, shielding him with its broad wings from the dispersing Death Energy.
Murphy struggled to his feet. There was a bowl-sized hole in his chest, its edges a mixture of charred and frozen flesh.
He stared down at his wound in disbelief, then looked back at Ian, who was still standing.
"Im... possible..."
he hissed, his eyes filled with madness and resentnt.
He abruptly raised his hand, clawing at his own head, intending to detonate his remaining Soul to take Ian down with him.
But Ian was faster.
Almost at the exact mont Murphy raised his hand, Ian lifted his finger.
Spirit Devourer transford into an invisible, dark red vortex that enveloped Murphy from a distance.
"URGHH!" Murphy let out a shrill, inhuman scream.
He felt his Soul, his blood, his remaining Death Energy, and even his Life Force...
...being savagely drained by an incredibly tyrannical Suction, all of it flowing toward Ian.
The self-detonation process was brutally interrupted!
His wizened body shriveled rapidly, and the Soul Fire in his eye sockets dimd.
Finally, with a POOF, it was extinguished completely.
His corpse turned into a cloud of Ashes that rustled to the ground, leaving only a tattered red robe and the Magic Staff.
A single, crystalline Blood Essence flew out. Ian collected it and put it in his Ring; he didn’t have ti to examine it now.
This was the first ti he had used the Bloodline Purification Technique to drain a living person to death.
Ian collapsed by the altar, gasping for breath.
’Maybe... a Level One Wizard is capable of generating an Extraordinary Bloodline even without modifying their own body?’
The cave fell deathly silent, with only the Energy Vortex in the center of the altar still spinning slowly.
He took out several healing and Recovery Potions and downed them all at once.
The cool and gentle dicinal power dissolved, slowly beginning to nourish his depleted Sea of Spirit.
Gaga landed on his shoulder, rubbing its little head against his bloodstained cheek, its mismatched eyes filled with concern and lingering fear.
After resting for about fifteen minutes, Ian managed to sit up and looked toward the altar.
Observing it up close, combined with the faint resonance he felt in his mind, he got a clearer Perception of the altar’s function.
It was like a Signal Amplifier or a Temporary Anchor Point, using the Earth’s Energy Emanation to send location information to a specific coordinate in the Abyss.
’It can’t be allowed to remain.’ Ian’s eyes were icy.
No matter who had set up this altar, he absolutely could not let it continue to operate.
Several Frost Ash Beams shot out, striking a few key nodes of the altar’s core Runes and disrupting the structure of the dark red Energy Vortex.
The vortex twisted and fluctuated violently before finally dissipating with a POP.
The mont the altar crumbled, a deep gray wisp of light escaped from it and entered Ian’s chest, where it was absorbed by the Abyssal Soul Contract (Extrely Fragnted).
A notification ca from his panel: [Abyssal Soul Contract (Extrely Fragnted)] has been supplented. So information can now be analyzed.
Behind him, the ancient altar dimd completely, crumbling into a pile of rubble and white bone.
Slaying Murphy and destroying the altar lifted a great weight from his heart.
This ti, he had defeated a Liquidation Wizard at his peak in a head-on battle, and he had held nothing back.
