With those words, Angel clutched the Magic Book and, to everyone’s astonishnt, rose from her wheelchair!
Her white dress swayed gently in the night wind. At a glance, she was the very picture of a pure Elf, standing serenely on the street, a sight that seed to bring solace to the very soul...
...Like hell!
’Why can she stand?!’
Aside from the three summoned Servant Demons, the hearts of the other three n felt as if they had been plunged into an icy abyss, a bone-chilling cold piercing them to the core!
The intelligence provided by the Eldest Princess had clearly stated that Angel’s legs were crippled, her Magic Scripture was sealed, and aside from being a Master of Evil Spirits, she knew no other Magic!
But now, the very first goddamn piece of intel was wrong!
’Then the other two...’
At this thought, the three n tightened their grips on their longswords. A wave of anxiety washed over them; they had never felt the night wind be so bone-chillingly cold.
"GULP~"
Hearing the three Knights swallow nervously, Angel smiled faintly. "What’s wrong? Not making a move? The orders His Highness Philo gave you weren’t sothing as simple as just cornering , were they?"
When the three still didn’t move, Angel gently shook her head. She then began to walk slowly toward Isaac, her long legs striding forward, a sliver of her pale calf flashing from beneath her long dress with each step.
The three Knights grew anxious, but they still didn’t dare make a reckless move. The intelligence from the Eldest Princess was now completely worthless. This Angel had to be treated as a true Witch!
And when Hunting a Witch, one could never be too careful!
Fortunately, they didn’t have to get their own hands dirty. The Eldest Princess had inford them before they left that Angel carried an Evil Spirit’s Curse—anyone who hard her would be devoured by the Evil Spirit that accompanied her!
That was why the three of them, all capable of Summoning Servant Demons, had been specifically dispatched for this mission. After all, Servant Demons were expendable.
With a light wave of his right hand, one of the Knights gave the command. The Servant Demon behind him imdiately and confidently nocked an arrow, took aim, and released—all in one fluid motion!
As a battle-hardened Divine Archer, he truly didn’t understand what his current master was so afraid of. ’A re Witch.’ He’d killed plenty of them in his previous life!
’Heh. A re Witch!’
’Who was he?’
’The strongest Divine Archer of the Satoru Kingdom from a thousand years ago!’
’A re Witch. Victory was certain!’
As the arrow flew, the three Knights stared intently at Angel, wanting to see what made her so confident!
And then...
THWACK!
To their astonishnt, the arrow struck Angel right between the eyes, piercing straight through her head!
A spray of white and red liquid filled the air!
THUMP~
Angel’s corpse fell backward with a jolt. Crimson blood rained down, spattering her pristine white dress like a spray of crimson plum blossoms...
"ROAR!!!"
CHOMP!
Before the three Knights could even react, a gray energy materialized at the feet of the attacking Servant Demon. In an instant, it transford into a winged, Demon-like Evil Spirit that bit off the Servant Demon’s entire upper body!
Even with their delayed reaction, the three Knights felt no fear. This was all within the Eldest Princess’s calculations!
’It was just a Servant Demon. Trading one Servant Demon for a Witch’s life was a clear win...’
The three tore their gazes away, preparing to step forward and retrieve the body. But then, their eyes widened in horror at the sight before them on the street!
Because Angel was now standing on the street, completely unhard!
There wasn’t a single mark between her brows. Even her white dress was still spotless!
’But... we just saw her die... And the Servant Demon that attacked is now...’
The Knights’ gazes darted back and forth between Angel and the mangled remains of the Servant Demon. The more they looked, the more horrified they beca. ’The Curse was triggered, so how... how is she completely fine?’
Facing the Knights’ shock, Angel said nothing more. She simply continued her slow walk toward Isaac, a faint smile still gracing her lips.
"You! Kill her again!" The lead Knight watched Angel’s leisurely stroll on the street below, gritted his teeth to suppress his rising fear, and commanded another Servant Demon.
The Servant Demon heard the command but did not move. It wasn’t out of fear—for summoned Servant Demons, "death" was rely a return to the Divine Lamp Dinsion. The issue was that the Knight who gave the order was not its master, even if they were all acting together.
"Go."
Once its true master gave the command, this Servant Demon drew the longsword at its waist. In a flash, it appeared before Angel. A glint of steel, and the longsword sliced diagonally from Angel’s right shoulder to her left waist!
It sliced her clean in two!
The gushing blood dyed her white dress crimson!
Looking at the pitiful girl lying in a pool of blood, the Swordmaster Servant Demon felt nothing. It had done this sort of thing far too many tis. Besides, it had not forgotten that the previous Servant Demon was killed by a suddenly appearing Evil Spirit right after slaying this sa girl!
So, the instant it killed Angel, it shot backward, warily scanning its surroundings. ’I didn’t expect her thods to be so bizarre before,’ it thought. ’But now that I’m prepared, I won’t make the sa mista—’
SQUELCH~
With a wet crunch, the Swordmaster Servant Demon’s legs crumpled to the ground...
And what was even more bizarre, Angel was once again standing on the street, completely unhard!
Her white dress was still unstained by even a speck of dust!
So... pristine...
Unlike the first ti, when they were left completely baffled, this ti the three n and the one remaining Servant Demon saw it all clearly. After the Swordmaster Servant Demon was devoured by the Evil Spirit appearing from the Void, the fallen Angel suddenly rose. As she did, all the blood she had spilled flowed back into her body, and her wounds sealed themselves completely!
To be honest, while they had seen what happened, they had absolutely no idea how to deal with such a bizarre spectacle.
Forget about a solution; they couldn’t even comprehend it!
If Isaac had been there to witness this classic scene, he would have recognized it at a glance for what it was: the legendary Ti Reversal!
But how would a bunch of brutes like them know of such things? Even the last, most experienced Swordmaster Servant Demon had never witnessed such a scene. After all, it was only a Tier One Servant Demon and had only ever participated in Tier One Divine Lamp Trials. What kind of Tier One Wizard or Witch could possibly use Ti Magic?
’Oh, wait. A Witch like Angel might exist, but they’d be incredibly rare. I’ve certainly never t one.’
So, to them, the scene was just utterly bizarre. And the worst part? As bizarre as it was, they still had to steel themselves and charge in!
Because it was an order from the Eldest Princess, and it had to be obeyed.
Otherwise, there would be hell to pay upon their return. They might even beco sacrifices offered by the Eldest Princess to an Outer God!
After taking a deep breath, the three n exchanged a look. The situation was now crystal clear: they had to brute force it!
No matter how bizarre this Magic was, so truths were universal—all Magic had a cost!
’If it consus power, she can be killed!’
’No matter how many lives she has, we just have to kill her every single ti!’
However, there was one crucial detail when it ca to Angel: every ti they killed her, they had to be wary of the ensuing backlash from the Evil Spirit!
But after observing the first two tis, they’d roughly figured out a weakness in the Evil Spirit’s backlash: the wind-up was too long!
In other words, as long as they kept moving at high speed, they had a good chance of dodging the Evil Spirit’s counterattack!
And whether this plan would actually work... well, that all depended on the last Servant Demon.
The three n looked in unison at the last Servant Demon. The Swordmaster Servant Demon was silent for a mont, then leaped lightly, landing in front of Angel. It slowly drew the longsword from its waist. No words were needed; it understood what the three n wanted. This was the fate of most Servant Demons.
’After all, there’s no way I wouldn’t spot such a simple loophole. It’s just...’
’...can this really work?’
The Swordmaster Servant Demon, exceptionally experienced in the ways of death, felt a palpable aura of death emanating from Angel...
’But who cares? My job is just to test it. As a Divine Lamp Servant Demon, I won’t truly die. If anyone’s going to die, it’ll be those three idiots on the roof. So, I might as well enjoy this thrilling Trial of life and death!’
SWOOSH!
The Swordmaster Servant Demon crouched slightly, then its entire body vanished!
Almost at the exact instant it disappeared, Angel’s head, still wearing a smile, flew high into the air!
At the sa ti, her headless body collapsed, gushing blood!
"ROAR!"
The Evil Spirit struggled to erge from the Void. Although it appeared quickly, the Swordmaster Servant Demon was already moving at high speed, so the spirit failed to land a killing blow!
"ROAR!"
The Evil Spirit let out a roar of frustration, and its form gradually faded away.
Seeing this, the three n on the rooftop exchanged glances, elation reflected in each other’s eyes. ’It worked! We’re saved!’
Without another mont of hesitation, the three n drew their longswords. In a flash, they appeared before the just-revived Angel. Three streaks of sword light flashed, and Angel was chopped into four pieces that scattered across the ground!
Imdiately after, the three began to circle Angel’s remains at high speed, to dodge the Evil Spirit’s backlash!
"ROAR!... ROAR!"
SLASH!
"ROAR!... ROAR!"
SLASH!
...
Ti ticked by as Angel revived again and again. Soon, the three n’s excitent began to curdle into dread...
As ti wore on, the speed of Angel’s revival remained unchanged—impossibly stable, impossibly swift. The Evil Spirit still roared as it faded, but its tone had changed from initial rage to mocking laughter...
Because their stamina was running out...
And yet, only a little over a minute had passed!
To the three of them, that single minute had felt like an eternity!
Beyond the ntal and physical exhaustion of killing Angel over sixty tis, the sheer fatigue from maintaining their high-speed movent was becoming unbearable!
The feeling of hopelessness intensified when they attempted a relay tactic—one person attacks while the other three rest to exploit the Evil Spirit’s backlash window and recover stamina. But the resting Swordmaster Servant Demon was suddenly devoured whole by an Evil Spirit that appeared out of nowhere!
This sent a terrible signal to the three n: the Evil Spirit’s mark might be permanent...
Their only hope of removing the Evil Spirit’s mark was to kill Angel completely!
’Of course, it’s also possible that the mark can never be removed... But we can’t just die for nothing, right?’
But from the looks of it now, they were indeed about to die for nothing...
"CRUNCH! GULP~" The sounds of chewing and swallowing echoed abruptly. An Evil Spirit materialized, grinning at the two remaining n who were still zipping around at high speed. "Heheheh~ Two left!"
