Two weeks later, in Locke's laboratory.
On the laboratory workbench sat a small potted five-year-old apple tree. This potted plant had been specially treated so it would only grow to a child's height and wouldn't get any taller, looking very delicate and cute.
The apple tree was still hanging so fiery red apples, looking like small red lanterns. This type of apple tree potted plant was called [Aiden's Branch].
It was the best magical plant for first-class wizard apprentices to practice the very complex spell model [Awaken Treant].
Awaken Treant was originally sothing that only first-circle wizards from the Life School's plant magic subdivision could accomplish.
But using the simplified [Awaken Treant] along with the special supporting magical plant [Aiden's Branch], one could achieve this at the first-class wizard apprentice stage.
Being able to do this was very important. It could maximize this wizard's understanding of first-circle spells.
A first-class wizard apprentice wanting to beco a formal wizard needed not only sufficient ntal strength, but also corresponding understanding of first-circle botanical spells, being able to construct their first personal first-circle spell.
In a certain sense, all the cantrip models that wizard apprentices learned before first-circle spells were preparation for their first first-circle spell.
As Locke chanted the incantation, 89 Ogham runes flashed across [Aiden's Branch].
Imdiately after, this apple tree began crawling out of the flower pot like a child. During this process, facial features gradually appeared on its trunk, and its movents beca increasingly flexible.
But just as the apple tree treant climbed out of the pot and placed its roots on the workbench, at least nine Ogham runes on the apple tree's surface suddenly flickered, and then the entire spell model rapidly collapsed.
The [Aiden's Branch] seed to endure trendous pressure, its trunk making 'crack~' and 'crack' sounds as it rapidly regressed from treant form back to ordinary tree.
Then its bark began cracking, and so branches broke.
Locke's expression remained unchanged. He wasn't surprised by this situation. Awaken Treant was a cantrip model that Witch Sophia had specifically told him to learn two weeks ago.
Witch Sophia believed this would greatly benefit his understanding of first-circle spells.
The greatest gain from learning this spell wasn't having another powerful spell ability, but its auxiliary effect on his future path.
So he had spent 100 magic stones to buy an [Aiden's Branch] apple potted plant, plus another 500 magic stones to enroll in this course at the public classroom. When he really couldn't understand sothing, he would consult Witch Sophia.
After two weeks of study, this was his first attempt, but it indeed failed.
"My mana is still insufficient to awaken ordinary magical plants into treants. This is the first reason for failure." Locke thought, "The second failure point is that 89 Ogham runes are too complex, so my understanding deviated, and the spell model was problematic from the start."
"When mana was circulating, there were errors everywhere." Locke thought, "But it's fine. Failure is only temporary. I can continue learning slowly."
"The botanical garden has already begun delivering the second batch of Crystal Palm Fire Lotus." Locke thought, "Perhaps the academy might sign another bulk procurent contract with soon."
"As long as I have sufficient resources, I can buy more [Aiden's Branch]. As long as I have enough practice materials, my speed in learning the Awaken Treant spell model won't be too slow."
He had already been improved by one tier in aptitude due to Weeping Blood Nightshade, plus Deep Blue Jade improving his mana stability and accuracy, combined with mory Ointnt increasing his learning speed. So as long as he was willing to spend money and invest resources heavily.
His speed in learning this spell would likely not be slower than those Children of Elents.
Locke looked at the Aiden's Branch that was already half-ruined, "Should be able to try 2 to 3 more tis. Looks like another big expense, but this money must be spent."
"Learning Awaken Treant can elevate my understanding of plant magic."
Locke looked at the three On Mandrake Vines wrapped around his right hand. After doubling his mana, he naturally needed to learn more spells and more powerful spell models, converting this increased mana into his actual real combat power.
During these two weeks, he had successfully outlined a 40 Ogham rune 0.7-circle cantrip model [Vine Boxing].
This was the second spell in the Vine Surge series.
Locke softly chanted an incantation, and the three Mandrake vines on his right hand each split into five branches, with the ends of these five branches each curling up to form vine-outlined fists.
Imdiately after, these fifteen vine fists struck the laboratory air like raindrops, the sound of cutting through air growing louder and louder.
After about three minutes, the spell finally stopped.
Locke looked at this scene with satisfaction.
The Vine Boxing spell allowed the three On Mandrake Vines to form special attack patterns, creating physical attacks like violent storms against enemies in an instant.
The Vine Surge series had three more spells: [Vine Thrust], [Vine Whip Combo], and [Vine Strangle].
Including the Vine Boxing that Locke was currently using, plus the previous Multiple Manipulation, these were all the spells in the Vine Surge series.
These four spells were all 0.5-circle, didn't require special course enrollnt, and had high similarity. Learning one ant quickly mastering how to apply the others.
Combining five spells together could use powerful vine spells, trapping enemies in continuous and intensive attacks.
anwhile, the previous Poison Berry Shot from the Vine Hand series still had so value and could be mixed in for use.
This set of combination attacks was the standard spell repertoire for first-class wizard apprentices in the plant magic subdivision.
At this ti, Locke temporarily set aside spell learning and went to Sophia's office.
In Sophia's office.
Locke asked Sophia, "Teacher, you wanted to see ?"
Witch Sophia nodded and asked, "Locke, how is your mory Ointnt recently? I see you've already given it to a third-class wizard apprentice."
Locke smiled, "Teacher, the situation is very good. That third-class wizard apprentice is nad Pierre. After using my mory Ointnt, his mory performance improved by about 50%."
"His learning progress in public classes has greatly improved, which can be seen from his recent academic performance. anwhile, I arranged for my assistant Terry to conduct daily cognitive and mory experints on him, and we've found amazing improvents in his mory, with much faster learning speed."
"Due to the mory Ointnt's effects, he's now almost becoming a second-class wizard apprentice. I predict he should beco a second-class wizard apprentice in half a year."
Locke added, "However, he originally had level 4 aptitude, so taking about three years to beco a second-class wizard apprentice is also normal."
"But the mory Ointnt undoubtedly played a catalytic role."
Witch Sophia was slightly surprised. "Fifty percent? Mm, this effect slightly exceeds my expectations. But as long as you know what you're doing, your ointnt shouldn't cause any experintal accidents under normal circumstances."
"Rember to record the side effects. Especially don't miss behaviors that seem unrelated to the experint, as those might be indirect reactions caused by the experint."
Sophia shared her experience, "I called you here to talk about the breeder certification exam you registered for last week."
Sophia's expression looked sowhat strange. "I'll be honest with you. Due to certain reasons, I have a very poor relationship with this year's chief examiner. If you participate this year, you'll most likely fail."
"So, do you still want to participate?"
