In front of him, the houses appeared almost intact, and the streets were exceptionally clean, as if the city’s residents had suddenly vanished, freezing the entire city in a specific moment in time.
At this moment, he faintly heard some sort of gear-turning sound ing from afar.
However, the sound seemed to originate from the depths of the city and was only faintly audible at their current distance.
"I feel... as if something is watching us over there," Terrio frowned, pointing ahead.
Though he didn’t see any sign of an enemy, the Sword Saint’s keen senses would not deceive him.
"I also sense an obscure aura," Hernandez said, casually casting a water element witchcraft, with flickering blue symbols floating in the air.
"There is definitely something wrong with this city."
"Why don’t we just use a killing blow to destroy this area? That way, even if there’s something hidden, we can force it out," Sword Saint Terrio proposed a very straightforward and brute force plan.
"Not a good idea!" Rein and Hernandez said almost simultaneously.
"If Haleem isn’t dead but hiding somewhere, our bined attack might accidentally harm or even kill him," Hernandez explained.
The joint power of three epic-level warriors could likely destroy this city ruin in half.
"Indeed, Lord Terrio, we’re here to rescue; we need to ascertain whether he’s alive or dead first," Rein nodded, agreeing.
This time, he’s here to find Lord Haleem and obtain that witchcraft, regardless of whether the other is alive or dead.
Additionally, they hope to find traces of the Ancient Wizard School Valziger expedition team, particularly the owner of the black-leather diary, the sect leader Valziger’s remains.

Yet, no matter how hard they listened, they couldn’t make out exactly what she was saying.
Even Hernandez, a well-read veteran Dawn Wizard, couldn’t discern what she was saying.
"Something’s not right; this is some sort of mental effect," Rein suddenly said in a deep voice.
As he turned around, he noticed that the elite Federation soldiers behind him, be they Knights or Great Knights, were rolling their eyes and wandering off aimlessly.
"Purification Skill!"
A stream of light blue water erupted in front of Hernandez, forming ripples that covered the surrounding Federation soldiers.
Yet, even the light blue ripples washing over the soldiers couldn’t awaken them.
"How can it be ineffective?" Hernandez’s eyes widened with surprise!
