Chapter 1068: Chapter 543: Justice VS Self-Proclaid Justice! (Vote for monthly tickets!!!)

“Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough…”

The special care floor of Walter Reed National Military dical Center.

A continuous, urgent, and intense coughing sound echoed, followed by breathing that resembled a fan…

Like the sea with a leak, the sound was incredibly distressing to hear.

Carter closed his tired eyes, as if asleep, his breathing sowhat erratic.

Rosaline sat beside the hospital bed, watching the emaciated Carter, wiping her tears vigorously.

She tightly held a dical report in her hands, on which it clearly stated:

Stomach cancer, mid-stage!

Although the doctor said with proper rest and active treatnt, life could be assured.

But after all, it was cancer, how could Rosaline not be anxious?

“Creak”~

The door to the ward was pushed open, and Chief of Staff Everett walked in with a worried face, “How’s he doing?”

Rosaline had no idea that this guy had betrayed Carter, seeing his expression she thought he was genuinely concerned, and couldn’t help but feel touched.

“The doctor said there’s no life-threatening risk, just that he needs to rest quietly now.”

A sigh of relief escaped Everett.

As long as he’s not dead.

If he were dead, finding soone to stamp the papers wouldn’t be easy.

Carter is a gentleman, a good man, so he’s easy to bully.

“That’s good, let him rest well.”

Rosaline hesitated for a mont, then softly asked, “How’s the current situation?”

Everett raised an eyebrow, not knowing why she was asking, lied, and smiled, “No big issues, Bramo won’t last a few more days.”

However, this was not honest.

Although Bramo was trapped in Rockford, the 173rd Infantry Brigade of the US Army was now caught in a “people’s war.”

They intentionally let them in to fight street battles, with sudden gunshots from people appearing by windows.

In three days, 32 had been killed, and 177 were missing.

As for why they were missing?

Because no bodies were found, no pension could be refused.

The Yanks have very strict criteria for recognizing fallen soldiers; they must die on the battlefield with their faces clear for identification.

If soldiers die during rescue or post-war treatnt, they are usually not categorized as fallen, so families cannot receive pension benefits.

So, sotis in India’s military accident reports, you often see the words “missing.”

In fact, they are damn dead.

The leadership wants to turn a blind eye.

Just like the end of a dynasty.

Mrs. Smith needs to buy gold with your money, you soldier.

Rosaline glanced at Carter and said sadly, “Jimmy’s illness is very serious, I hope he can step down…”

“No way!”

Before she could finish, Everett interrupted sharply.

She was taken aback, turning her head to see his expression turned sowhat grim, already a black man, now he looked unkind, like a…

Beast!

Rosaline was startled.

When she t him before, his smile wasn’t fawning but rather courteous.

Why did he now look so… ferocious?!

If Carter doesn’t do it, what about my position as White House Chief of Staff?

Damn, there aren’t enough zeros in my bank account.

If you don’t do it, how do I make money?

Everett viewed him as a cash cow.

Just like the eunuchs holding control over the inner court at the end of the Tang Dynasty, using the emperor to secure their benefits?

Arica’s elites also had their own sches.

With his nature exposed, Everett didn’t bother to feign decency with Rosaline, standing straight, expressionless, “The United States can’t do without him, just let him recover well.”

Saying this, he turned and walked out, slamming the door with a “bang.”

The door was closed with such force, and doctors and nurses outside peeked cautiously then quickly withdrew.

Everett didn’t even glance at Carter in bed.

Cold-blooded to the extre.

Rosaline, being clever, imdiately deduced the situation from his attitude.

Carter…

was just an insignificant pawn.

And when she thought of her husband pouring his heart out for this country, she was overwheld with sorrow, lying over Carter’s body and crying.

Utterly disappointed in this country!

“Rosaline…” a weak voice suddenly sounded.

The old woman raised her head abruptly, wiped her tears, her eyes bloodshot, quickly grabbing Carter’s hand, “I’m here.”

This illness ca like a mountain collapsing, in just two days, Carter’s entire spirit had fallen.

“Are you thirsty? I’ll get you so water!”

His lips lightly quivered and he tugged at Rosaline, “When Everett ca… cough cough, I woke up.”

“The United States is not where we should stay…”

“Run quickly, leave this country!”

With the effort of saying a few more words, his breathing beca rapid, his chest heaving, “Take the children and leave… leave…”

Rosaline quickly soothed his chest, showing her sadness.

“I shouldn’t have listened to those politicians’ deceit, I shouldn’t have coveted the position of president, I shouldn’t have!!” Carter shouted with dilated eyes.

“Doctor! Doctor!” Rosaline shouted anxiously, sensing sothing was wrong.

“Go to xico, go to xico and you can still live!” Carter said forcefully, then fell unconscious.

A group of doctors rushed in upon hearing the commotion, pushing Carter into the ergency room.

Rosaline sat on a chair outside the ICU, with her hands clasped in prayer.

In the silent corridor, only her prayers could be heard.

It looked, sowhat pitiful.

If it weren’t for Roosevelt leading the United States to win World War II, reaping enormous wealth and influence from the war.

One can’t guarantee it wouldn’t end up so miserable.

Rockford!

The air was thick with the sll of gunpowder, gunfire crackling everywhere in the streets.

Ard U.S. Military and Rockford citizens in gunfights could be seen everywhere.

Around a corner, on a sign knocked to the ground, it read: “rkel Avenue.”
