Capítulo 1491: Chapter 701: Distinguishing Rebellion from Cri

Russians are ultimately different from xicans.

You can easily tell by their race.

“Ivan Petrov?”

It’s over.

It’s all over.

Ivan Petrov lay limp on the ground, his face ashen, with even the last bit of strength for struggle gone.

Director Schultz paced back and forth in his office, the ashtray already piled high with cigarette butts.

When the phone on his desk rang, and he heard the voice on the other end say, “Target Ivan Petrov has been captured on the small road in the west of the city and is being escorted,” he slamd his fist on the desk, causing the teacup to jump.

“Good! Well done!” Schultz’s face was flushed with excitent, as if the fatigue and pressure of the past few days had been swept away, “Keep a close eye on him, dispatch a unit of border patrol armored vehicles to assist, I want this Russian delivered to without a hair out of place! Quickly!”

He put down the phone, rubbing his hands in excitent.

Ivan Petrov was key to the case.

Capturing him would an a breakthrough in the case, providing a temporary explanation to Mr. Victor and uprooting the cancer lurking in the Special Zone and even wider areas.

He even began to outline in his mind the steps for interrogating Ivan and the subsequent series of arrest actions.

The orders were quickly issued.

A convoy composed of three armored off-road vehicles and a modified heavy-duty escort vehicle carried a whole squad of elite SWAT officers, speeding toward the capture location to rendezvous with the squad escorting Ivan.

However, before they could et, as the escort convoy traveled on a relatively secluded but necessary road leading to the urban area, a sudden change occurred.

Out of a side road, without warning, a massive container truck barreled out, like a rampaging steel beast, its headlights glaring, smashing into the escort vehicle with shocking speed!

“Boom!!!!!!!”

The crashing explosion tore through the night’s silence, like thunder out of the clear sky!

The escort vehicle was hit like a bowling pin, rolling off lightly to the side, with the rear door even swinging open, flinging people out from inside.

Broken glass, twisted tal parts, and human remains scattered everywhere.

The front of the offending large truck was also severely damaged, spewing black smoke, and it ca to a halt in the middle of the road, its driver seemingly dead on the spot as well.

The scene was unbearable!!

When Director Schultz received the ergency report and dashed to the scene with a large backup force and ambulances, the sight before him struck him like a lightning bolt, his mind went blank, and he stood there frozen.

The rotating lights of the police cars cast the area in alternately bright and dark hues, rescue workers desperately trying to pry open the deford car doors, the cries of dics and the sound of tal cutting mixing together.

Schultz stepped on sothing sticky and looked down to see fresh blood, not yet coagulated.

He saw the escort vehicle, now a heap of scrap tal, the body almost folded upon itself. Rescue workers struggled with hydraulic cutters to widen the space, pulling out the shattered, bloodstained bodies of his elite SWAT officers.

“Director, initial judgnt is that all brothers from the escort vehicle, including Ivan Petrov, died on the spot…” reported an officer with scratches and tears on his face, choking on his words.

A forensic doctor, after an initial examination, shook his head at Schultz, speaking in a low voice, “Multiple fatal injuries, shattered skull fractures, broken neck bones… no signs of life.”

From heaven to hell in less than an hour.

Schultz felt a bitter taste rising in his throat, making him dizzy.

This was no accident!

This was goddamn silencing!

A blatant, arrogant provocation to the extre!

At this hour of the night, you tell there’s a four-lane accident? And such a coincidence?

If I didn’t question it, I’d be crazy!

“Investigate! Find out everything about this truck and the driver’s entire social network.”

“Understood, Director.”

The following morning, xico City, on the private runway beside the Chapultepec Forest at the official residence.

Victor, dressed simply in workout gear, was doing his regular morning run, his breathing steady and rhythmic, only a fine layer of sweat glistening on his forehead.

The rising sun cast dappled light through the tall trees along the shaded path.

George Smiley of the Thirteen Protectors stood at the finish line of the track, holding a slim file folder. His face was solemn.

After finishing his last lap, Victor slowly stopped, took the towel handed to him by an attendant, and while wiping his sweat, walked toward Smiley, “George, so early, it seems it’s not good news.”

“There’s trouble in Belize.”

He succinctly reported the “Neptune” casino drug case, the Alvarez family’s report, the attempt to silence soone within the police headquarters, the confessions of Ferming and others, the capture of key figure Ivan Petrov, and finally, the tragic car accident that claid Ivan’s and several SWAT officers’ lives.

Victor listened, and only after Smiley finished did he drape the towel over his shoulder, picking up a bottle of water to take a sip.

“For all their progress over the centuries, humans never change their ways of silencing—it’s the sa old thods. Burning factories, granaries, and ledgers at year-end, killing imperial envoys during smuggling investigations—they do it all, yet do they not understand the difference between cri and treachery?”

“Dig deep, use all resources, from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the police system, investigate from the dead driver down to the very end, I want to know who dares to provoke on my territory with thods explicitly banned by my rules, and in such a crude manner.”

“Understood, sir!” Smiley replied solemnly.

Victor nodded, squinting, “Oh, by the way, haven’t the people from Xiangjiang already arrived?”

“Send them to Belize.”

“Give them this case, along with the Alvarez family as witnesses, and tell them that the xican side will provide all necessary force support and local coordination, but the leadership of the investigation is theirs.”

Smiley was slightly taken aback, but quickly grasped the intention, “You want to leverage their external yet professional perspective, while also…”

Victor interrupted, speaking the most crucial sentence, “The Chinese network is ultimately best understood by the Chinese themselves; let them investigate those hiding behind the ‘Extraterrestrial Object’.”

A brilliant strategy of using Chinese strengths against Chinese cris!!!

In foreign territories, Asians understand Asian criminals best.

“I’ll arrange it imdiately.”

xico City Police Headquarters, temporary office of the joint task force.

Li Wenbin and Zheng Chuyao were in a eting with xican officials, getting familiar with the initially shared, sparse intelligence on the ‘Extraterrestrial Object’ flowing into xico. The eting atmosphere was serious but relatively stable.

At this mont, the door to the eting room was pushed open, Deputy Minister Eberstein and Minister Bill entered with grave expressions, indicating the eting be paused.

“Inspector Li, Chief Inspector Zheng, there’s been a change in situation.”

Minister Bill got straight to the point, “We have just received direct orders from Mr. Victor; a major drug case has occurred in the Belize Special Economic Zone involving the ‘Extraterrestrial Object,’ and there has been a severe incident of suspect silencing.”

Li Wenbin and Zheng Chuyao exchanged a glance.

Eberstein continued, “Mr. Victor instructed that this case will be the first major target for our joint task force. The two of you are to imdiately lead a capable force to Belize and take over the investigation completely. The xican side, including Director Lionel Schultz and all his forces at the Belize Police Headquarters, will unconditionally cooperate with your work, and all involved personnel, evidence, and clues will be fully open to you.”

Li Wenbin took a deep breath, hesitated not for a second, stood up, “Thank you for Mr. Victor’s trust, thank you, Minister and Deputy Minister, for your support. We will prepare imdiately to depart for Belize and will do our utmost to uncover the truth!”

Zheng Chuyao also nodded firmly, the fire of professionalism sparkling in her eyes.

The opportunity to fully showcase their abilities had arrived.
