Capítulo 1583: Chapter 731: Useless Teammate, I Just Can’t Carry
Fort Stewart bloody mutiny scandal, despite the Pentagon and the White House issuing strict gag orders, the first to sll the blood and pounce were precisely their local news dia.
Reporters…
Survive on tiliness, just one step ahead of the peers ans more for us.
On the second day after the incident, a local TV station known for its boldness and sharpness—”Northwest Perspective”—had its news van on the streets of Tacoma City, Washington State.
It’s not far from the Lewis-McCord Joint Base, a place where base officers often co during their vacations.
Reporter Kyle Jenkins and his caraman stopped a young, thin white soldier who looked like he just ca out of a convenience store, wearing sowhat old U.S. Military Army combat attire, at a sowhat bustling street corner.
“Soldier, excuse , we are from ‘Northwest Perspective’ news station.” Kyle handed over the microphone, the cara aid at the soldier’s weary and anxious face, “May we interview you?”
“We can offer 20 US Dollars.”
The soldier originally wanted to turn away, but upon hearing about the money, he imdiately stopped, hesitated for a mont, and nodded.
“We understand that active military personnel like you haven’t received your salary on ti for months now, is this true? What is your current living situation for you and your family?”
The soldier froze for a mont, his eyes sowhat evasive, instinctively wanting to avoid the cara, but hearing the words “salary” and “family,” he seed to be touched on so sensitive nerve, his lips trembled, and humiliation and anger rapidly gathered in his originally vacant eyes.
His voice initially started small, but soon found an outlet, and suddenly increased, “We haven’t received a cent of our pay for four months! Four months! Do you know what this ans?”
He faced the cara, agitation building, “My wife had to move with our child to live with her stingy mother because we can’t pay the apartnt rent, my car was repossessed by the bank due to non-paynt, and now I eat those dog-won’t-eat ration quotas in the base every day just to save a pitiful al allowance to send back ho!”
He beca more agitated, his face flushed, waving his arms: “Can’t survive! Really can’t survive! Maybe… maybe when the last bit we got from the Salvation Army canned food runs out at ho, I’ll…” He paused, a crazed look in his eyes, “I’ll grab my M4 assault rifle and go robbing! Yes, robbing! Like they do in the movies, anyway, this country doesn’t care about us!”
“Fuck your mother’s mother!!”
The caraman keenly zood in, capturing every detail of desperation and anger on the soldier’s face. Reporter Kyle felt uneasy, yet secretly thrilled by capturing such explosive footage. He pursued, “Soldier, calm down, are you saying you would resort to violent ans…”
“Shut up!” The soldier roared abruptly as if his last thread of reason snapped. He suddenly reached from the quick-draw holster behind his waist, pulling out a standard M9 pistol!
“Damn it! Take out your money, now! All of it!” He pointed the gun at the reporter and caraman, his voice hoarse and distorted from agitation, “Give the cara! And wallet! Quick!”
This sudden change left the reporter and caraman stunned.
The cara shook violently, then seemingly placed hurriedly on the ground or so table, the fra turned to a tilted angle, capturing the nacing figure of the soldier with a gun and the reporter raising hands in panic.
“Listen, soldier, calm! We’ll give you money…” The reporter’s voice quivered.
A mont of chaotic fumbling, the wallet was tossed over.
The soldier grabbed the wallet fiercely, throwing a vicious glare at the cara on the ground, seemingly wanting to smash it, but ultimately just roared at the lens: “You drove to this! This is Arica, you motherfucking bastards.”
Then, he snatched up the wallet, turned, and quickly ran out of the cara fra, disappearing around the street corner.
The cara lingered for about two minutes, recording the deserted street corner and the faint screams from afar, then it was raised by the caraman still in shock.
“God… he… he really robbed us… an active U.S. Military soldier, in broad daylight…”
Kyle facing the cara, speechless but with a professional instinct quickly summarized, “Viewers, you all saw, this is not a drill! An unpaid for four months U.S. soldier, after sharing his plight with us, robbed us, what kind of despair drives such actions! This is not only his personal tragedy but a failure of our entire nation!”
This video, especially the footage of the soldier pulling a gun and that final scream of despair, was broadcast almost unedited by “Northwest Perspective” news station, like pouring cold water into a boiling oil pot, it instantly exploded across Arican public opinion.
TV stations, radio, newspapers, especially the erging Internet forums, all flooded with this news.
“Shocking! U.S. Military soldier openly robs reporter, the reason is…”
“Unpaid for four months, loyal guardians turn street robbers?”
“Arica’s sha: Who drove our children mad?”
“Great? Feed our soldiers first!”
“We must let them live with dignity!”
