Capítulo 1879: Chapter 808: Poles

“I’ll go.” McTavish interrupted him, glancing at the docunt filled with dense legal jargon, “But I’ll bring ard guards. Not negotiators, guards. Ten fully ard n into the eting.”

Johnson frowned, “That’s not in line with diplomatic protocol, it may provoke a strong reaction from London—”

“Then let them react.” McTavish stared at him, “Many of my brothers died at the hands of n in suits. Let them see the guns, it will remind everyone that this negotiation is paid for in blood, not a gift from London. This is my bottom line.”

Johnson was silent for a mont, eventually nodding, “I will convey that. But please control the numbers and… deanor.”

The jeep jolted on the muddy mountain road. McTavish looked out the window; the rain had lessened, and the sky began to lighten. He thought of the late Duncan, of Callum’s young face, of many people he would never see again.

“Callum,” he suddenly said, “if we really achieve this ‘high degree of autonomy’… do you think it’s worth it?”

The history teacher pondered for a long ti, “Those who crawled out from piles of the dead aren’t entitled to say whether it’s worth it or not. All we can do is let the living live a decent life, and make the dead… die with a bit more aning.”

“aning…” McTavish repeated the word, with a bitter smile, “My son is in Canada, last ti he wrote, he said they called him ‘the terrorist’s kid’ at school. Is this the damn aning?”

The jeep splashed mud as it rolled over a puddle. In the distance, towards the England border, the echo of the last explosion faded into the morning mist.

A new day had arrived. But for many, daylight did not signal hope, only the need to face a ssy reality.

10 Downing Street

Oppression.

Suffocating oppression.

The Pri Minister stared at the three docunts laid out on the desk in parallel, each like a critical condition notice.

The first was from the Treasury Departnt: Over the past twenty-four hours, despite ‘unknown source’ small-scale market interventions, the British pound continued its slow decline against the US Dollar to 1.395. Market liquidity remains dried up, and two dium-sized banks have shown signs of a run, requiring ergency takeover by the Bank of England.

The second was from Military Intelligence Five: Birmingham’s “English Congress” announced a “Million March” to be held at Hyde Park, London on April 4th. Currently, several groups from outside London are heading towards it. Police assess that with current forces, it is impossible to control the situation without causing large-scale bloodshed. Suggest “political resolution” or “seek limited support from the military.”

The third was from the Scotland Affairs Office: The preparatory eting for the Edinburgh negotiations was a scene of chaos. McTavish insists on entering with ard guards and once again questioned the expression of “high degree of autonomy” regarding royal symbolism and diplomatic powers.

The SNP representative Donald Diu’er privately indicated, the hardline voices within the Highland resistance remain strong, doubting London’s sincerity, warning that if negotiations do not see substantial progress, “so units may take unilateral action to apply pressure.”

At this mont, the French envoy and German envoy sitting opposite the Pri Minister wore expressions of almost detached politeness.

Not my damn business!

“Mr. Pri Minister,” the French envoy said leisurely, “The European Union is willing to provide necessary observation and technical support for the Scottish referendum, based on the overall stability of Europe. However, regarding the joint economic stabilization asures you ntioned… please understand, the Eurozone itself faces many challenges. Any large-scale monetary intervention requires lengthy parliantary debate and approval from mber states, a distant redy for imdiate needs.”

The German envoy adjusted his glasses, “The root of the United Kingdom’s current problem lies in structural imbalance and lack of political trust. External aid can only temporarily alleviate the symptoms. We strongly suggest that your governnt focus its primary efforts on constructive dialogue with Scotland and dostic opposition forces to quickly present a credible political roadmap. Only a clear political resolution can fundantally stabilize market confidence.”

Rhetoric, impeccable.

Translation: Money, none. Troubled, solve it yourself. Once resolved, we’ll discuss how to distribute—no, how to ‘assist.'”

The Pri Minister felt his temples throbbing, a tallic taste rising in his throat, which he forcibly swallowed down.

Europe just knows how to pull each other’s legs!!!

“Then, at least diplomatically,” the Pri Minister’s voice was dry, “can the European Union issue a joint statent emphasizing support for the United Kingdom’s territorial integrity, condemning any form of violent separatist acts?”

The French envoy and German envoy exchanged a glance.

“In principle, the European Union supports the territorial integrity of mber states.”

The German envoy asured his words carefully, “But, specific to the Scottish issue, the situation is special. Historically, Scotland and England were a united kingdom… we notice a strong desire for self-determination among the Scottish people. The European Union’s position is to encourage such historical issues to be resolved through peaceful, democratic, and legal procedures. Violence, of course, needs condemnation, but the appeal itself needs to be heard.”

Heard what they wanted to hear.

The French envoy added, “Additionally, we have received so disturbing information regarding xico’s inappropriate activities in Europe. If the United Kingdom has solid evidence, we are very willing to discuss responses within the EU frawork because, after all, the stability of Europe needs our joint maintenance.”

The topic was steered back to xico, the subtext being: Want us to stand by you? Sure, who’s going to tackle xico?

Will you?
