Capítulo 1889: Chapter 810: Even Hydra Has Beco a Shit-Stirrer

The leader in black was obviously not prepared for such a swift and strong reaction from the other side. He tried to negotiate, but the Scottish Lieutenant in charge gave no opportunity, smashing the butt of a gun into his mask and then executing a standard takedown. The other soldiers rushed in like wolves, pressing gun barrels to heads, binding hands with zip ties.

The whole process took less than two minutes, and over a dozen n in black were all kneeling on the ground like tied-up dumplings.

The Lieutenant approached the still-shaken election officials, saluting: “The Security Council has ordered us to maintain order. The disruptors have been subdued, and voting may continue.”

He kicked a confiscated walkie-talkie at his feet, “These things, along with the tattoos on them, seem like ‘old friends’ on ‘loan’ from Northern Ireland.”

The ssage and footage were almost simultaneously sent back to the Edinburgh office.

McTavish looked at the subdued n in black on the screen, a sinister smile forming at the corner of his mouth.

He picked up the encrypted phone directly connected to London negotiator John Smith.

“Minister Smith,” his voice calm but with suppressed fury, “An incident occurred in Inverness. So ‘enthusiastic citizens’ from Northern Ireland attempted to ‘help’ us maintain voting order. My lads ‘politely’ asked them to take a break. May I ask, is this London’s ‘official blessing’?”

On the other end, John Smith was evidently already inford, his voice awkward and tense: “Chairman McTavish, this must be a misunderstanding! London has absolutely not authorized any actions to disrupt the referendum! This might be… an independent action by so extre royalists! We strongly condemn it!”

“Independent? Well-equipped, well-trained, and such impeccable timing for an independent action?” McTavish scoffed, “Minister Smith, I suggest you look into this thoroughly. Additionally, due to this ‘independent’ incident, I’ve decided to deploy additional Security Council forces to all border constituencies. To ‘ensure fairness’, you understand. If there are similar ‘misunderstandings’, I cannot guarantee my lads will remain restrained!”

“And, f*** off!!!!”

Hanging up the phone, McTavish said to Callum, “Package up the people we captured and the evidence, send it to BBC, CNN, and Al Jazeera.”

Callum nodded knowingly: “This will anger London.”

“F*** London!”

“That bunch of troublemakers just keep ssing around, yet they won’t give it a rest.”

McTavish looked at the gloomy sky outside the window, “I’m rely letting the world know who calls the shots in Scotland now.”

The Inverness incident spread like a stone thrown into a pond, the ripples spreading quickly.

Images of the fully ard Scottish forces efficiently subduing the n in black stood in stark contrast to the local police standing by. The ssage couldn’t be clearer: in Scotland, the old authority has crumbled, and new power has taken over.

London’s denials were pale and feeble.

The international observer team issued a cautiously worded yet pointed statent, expressing serious concern over potential external forces interfering with the referendum.

European dia began to mock “London’s secret gift”. Within Scotland, so previously undecided voters were incensed by this blatant interference.

Voting ended at 6 PM.

The tallying continued overnight.

The square in front of Edinburgh Castle.

Clouds hung low, but they couldn’t suppress the crowd’s boiling excitent. The square was packed with people who craned their necks to stare at three huge screens temporarily set up on the castle walls. The screens were still black, but the countdown tir had hit zero.

McTavish, Deauville, and the main mbers of the transition governnt stood on the platform at the castle gate. There were no officials from London present.

“Ladies and gentlen, fellow Scots,”

As the chief counting officer, Deauville’s voice echoed across the square through the loudspeakers, “The final results of the 1997 referendum on Scotland’s future status are in my hands.”

The square instantly fell silent, leaving only the sound of the wind and countless restrained breaths.

Deauville unfolded the docunts, took a deep breath, and with a voice trembling with emotion:

“Total voter turnout: 87.3%.”

“Option A, complete independence: 31.2%.”

“Option C, maintain the status quo: 11.5%.”

He paused, and the square was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

“Option B, beco a ‘Scottish Autonomous Kingdom’…”

He raised his head, his gaze sweeping over the countless expectant eyes below, enunciating clearly:

“57.3%!”

Dead silence.

Then, a tsunami of cheers suddenly erupted, as if to overturn the ancient walls of the castle!

Hats, scarves, and flags were thrown into the air as people embraced, leapt, and wept. The blue and white St. Andrew’s Flag instantly engulfed the entire square.

McTavish stood at the center of the sea of cheers, his face expressionless, but the knuckles of his tightly clenched fist were white.

57.3%, exceeding the majority, and surpassing the combined total of options A and C, Scotland, legally, would no longer be a region, but a ‘kingdom’ with full autonomy.

Deauville continued to read out the legal clauses and subsequent steps, but his voice was already drowned out.

Soon, the screen switched to 10 Downing Street in London, where the Pri Minister appeared in front of the cara, his expression as stiff as a plaster statue.

“The British governnt respects Scotland’s democratic choice,” his voice was dry, “We will imdiately initiate the constitutional procedures to recognize the legal status of the ‘Scottish Autonomous Kingdom’ and discuss specific arrangents for the transfer of power with the Scottish transitional governnt… Her Majesty the Queen understands the choice of the Scottish people and will visit Scotland at an appropriate ti…”

Understand? Visit? Boos erupted from the square. No one cared anymore what London had to say. The era had turned a new page.
