Capítulo 1905: Chapter 813: Wow~ Such a Big Fire~

July 12, 1997, xico City.

The heat wave wrapped the city like a layer of transparent grease.

But this “heat” ca not only from the equatorial sun, but also from an excitent almost boiling and visible to the naked eye.

The streets were washed as clean as mirrors, and the freshly painted traffic lines were glaringly white.

The blue, white, and red flags and Olympic five-ring flags nearly covered every lamppost and every window display.

Giant screens stood in squares and street corners, playing dazzling promotional videos: the shimring “Phoenix Nest,” the water center like a Crystal Palace, the intelligent Olympic Village, and volunteers dressed in bright national costus with radiant smiles.

Planes from all over the world were landing at the newly refurbished Benito Juarez International Airport like a swarm of bees returning to the hive.

On the runways, there were not only the usual flights from European and Arican airlines but also many painted with African, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian logos.

In the VIP corridor, national leaders, mbers of royal families, sports officials, and dia moguls of different races and attire were filing out, greeted by strictly vetted, multilingual, impeccably smiling xican ceremonial personnel and silently standing, sharp-looking security agents.

Casare stood in the control center at the top level of the airport tower, looking down through one-way glass at this busy but orderly scene, taking a hard puff on a cigar he finally managed to light.

“Damn, when I started with the boss back in the day.”

He exhaled a thick cloud of smoke and grinned at Bramo beside him, “I never dread that one day I could watch the world’s bigwigs flock to our doorstep like they’re going to a market. This feeling… damn, it’s not bad!”

Allen Macsison Turing, head of xico Internet Technology Departnt, said nothing, his eyes fixed on the dozen split screens in front of him, showing real-ti surveillance of key areas, VIP schedules, traffic flow, and reports of abnormal events.

His glasses reflected the flow of data light. “The convoy of the President of France has safely arrived at the State Guesthouse; the German Chancellor’s special plane will land in ten minutes. The British Royal Family’s special plane… is expected to arrive in an hour. Prince Charles’s accompanying dical team has already checked into the designated hotel beforehand, and our dical team has had a ‘friendly interaction’ with them.”

“Is that guy’s health okay?”

Casare raised an eyebrow, “He better not collapse at our opening ceremony; it’d be bad luck.”

“Doctors assess there’s no problem completing the scheduled itinerary, but ti and emotional stimulation need to be strictly controlled.”

Allen Macsison Turing pushed up his glasses, “Additionally, the Scottish McTavish delegation, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Cornwall’s ‘cultural observers’ have also arrived in batches, arranged in adjacent hotel areas. Our intelligence personnel have already ’embedded’ themselves in their service teams.”

“Keep an eye on them, make sure the British don’t start fighting among themselves here.” Casare snorted, “And what about the Ah San side?”

“Pri Minister Gujral eventually ca.” Allen Macsison Turing brought up a screen showing the sowhat forced smiles of Ah San’s delegation as they disembarked, “But their accompanying dia’s specifications were reduced, and the number of security personnel increased unusually. They attempted to approach several African heads of state in the airport VIP lounge but were ‘politely’ guided away by our people. Furthermore, all their applications to visit ‘high-tech projects’ were politely declined in favor of ‘security priority during the Olympics,’ and they were only arranged for routine cultural tours.”

“Consider them sensible.” Casare nodded with satisfaction, “What about the boss?”

“The Leader is making the final inspection at the ‘Phoenix Nest.’ Everything is ready for the opening ceremony.”

The sa day, “Phoenix Nest” National Stadium.

This giant structure, capable of holding a hundred thousand people, was currently empty and silent inside, with only a few workers conducting final equipnt tests.

Sunlight poured through the partially opened “scales” of the variable do, casting beams of light that illuminated the giant emblem in the central field, printed with the Olympic five rings and the xico City ’97 insignia.

Victor walked alone along the edge of the track, his footsteps echoing faintly in the vast space.

He wasn’t wearing formal attire, just a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He looked up at the do structure composed of tens of thousands of individual units, resembling the ribcage of a prehistoric beast, his gaze calm yet seemingly asuring the scale of an era.

Footsteps ca from behind, it was Bramo.

“Everything is normal. The final system-wide pressure test completed with a zero-fault rate, and all global television relay stations are online. The security system has entered the highest alert state, though externally loose but internally tight.”

Bramo reported, “In addition, the ‘background video’ you instructed has been embedded into the third segnt of the opening ceremony’s cultural performance, with a natural insertion ti of 2 minutes and 47 seconds.”

Victor uttered a sound of acknowledgnt, his gaze still on the do, “How’s the weather?”

“For the night of the opening ceremony: clear skies, a light breeze, and excellent visibility, perfect for drone shows and the torch lighting.”

Bramo paused, “Regarding the British side, Prince Charles is scheduled to sign the ‘Five Great Lakes Region Sovereignty Transfer and Future Cooperation Frawork Agreent’ at the International Conference Center the afternoon before the opening ceremony. The agreent text and ceremony procedures have been confird by both parties. BBC and CNN have obtained exclusive broadcast rights.”

“What about Scotland’s McTavish?” Victor finally turned his head, “How’s his reaction after he arrived?”

“Very quiet, spending most of the ti in the hotel room. But according to our ‘service personnel,’ he repeatedly watched the introduction videos we provided about the ‘Silicon Valley xico’ precinct and new agricultural projects, watching them many tis. His entourage, especially that history teacher Calum McDonald, showed great interest in our urban planning and infrastructure speed.”
